    Howdy. Made the PVC Rod Holder. Made it for 9 rods. Painted it OD Green. It is great! That PVC cement is tough to work with! Dries fast, so you must move quickly. Only hard part was I don't have good tools to get good straight cuts. But it worked out fine. Thanks from Guntersville, AL

    Great idea. You could add additional pipe to make tackle and cooler holders. Use pipe as a grid system. That’s how I held pots still underway in the Coast Guard. Of course my grid was aluminum bars. Thanks for the great videos and I see the fumes of painting have caused any nerve damage 😂

    FINALLY you used a satin or matte finish- I know ya did it to match with the bed liner, but it always looks better than the semi, or full-gloss. Just my opinion, but it is mor contemporary- modern I guess

    Excellent projects! I think I'd want the ability to pivot project #1 from the angled position to a straight up and down position, so I'd have to find a way to put some type of locking pin in the system to lock it in either direction One project #2, to add weight to the stand, I think I'd just fill the rear most piece of PVC with as much quickcrete that it'd hold. Awesome projects... Thanks for sharing!!!

    I built a rod holder for my JEEP Wagoneer and after several seasons it started to fail on me. I used "U" clamps ( conduit holders) on a piece of 1"X 12" board cut the length of my JEEP's front bumper. My problem was screws becoming weak and failing in securing the tubes to the board. My ends were left open to drain the tubes. I used rubber straps to secure the rods to the boards. All told it looked like Franken-rod holder!. What you suggest to make that would hold together better, look good. The spare tire on a Wrangler gets into the way ( for me). Love yer builds young man! Keep 'em going!

    But wait! you need to build one more for the guys that have toolbox in the bed. I used plywood to bolt PVC to and metal hangers to drop over inside of toolbox lid. That way the rod holder is more safe. Also some may want to use self tapping bolts instead of glue on the T"s in case you
    change your mind on the angle the rod tips are setting. Cat rods and pan fish rods have a different backbone to them.

    You can vary the length of the rod tubes if you want to add a couple more. This can set the reels at different heights providing more space to fit them closer together. Take into account the varying lengths of your rod handles as well.

    Would be cool to have a rod holder in the bed, without a track system taht could be adjustable to slide it from the front to the back, for bank fishing. Even if you had to attatch it to the bed somehow to keep it from coming up.

      I made it for a friend who took it to the beach and put it on his boat . I asked him to take some video or pictures for me when he gos fishing again but I'm not sure when that will be . But I already know itll work its easy to sold not too . Id really wanted to make it bullet proof you could make the bottom base out of 1/4" instead of 3/16 , you could even make it all 3/8 like the top is but I think that would be over kill since the very top of the line reels only have 25lbs of drag and no body runs their drag maxed out . Ppl act like the fish they catch pulls harder than other ppls when really the drag on the reels are the determining factor of how strong a Rodholder has ti be

    Awesome video thank you so much. I built a rod holder similar to the second one in this video years ago but with my short bed Tacoma it just ate up a lot of bed space so this time I went with the first style build in this video and it’s absolutely perfect. You made it super easy to follow and just copy. When I built the other one years ago I couldn’t find a decent video and just saw pictures so I wasted a lot of time and pvc just trying to figure it out but this time it was a breeze. Thanks again and keep up the awesome videos!

I think on Amazon it said 3/8 inch but before I drilled those holes to mount to the truck I just wanted to make sure. Thanks again. I’ve had a lot of friends wanting to do the same build and I sent them all your video.

    Both those build looked great. So now you have rod holders for garage, your truck, and your boat. Do you have a rod holder to carry all those rods to a bank or a pier or would you use the beach cart you built? Went fishing with Dieter Melhorn last August and we had fun talking about your CZcams Channel. He said you lived nearby. Would have been a kick to meet you. Anyway, keep up the good work. Love some of the stuff you build.

    I have an idea for you to try to do, make a crab pot using a jumbo plastic rectangle laundry basket around 19 W x 12 H x 28 L with a flower pot with the bottom cut off that is 8 R x 6.5 H that you screw onto the bottom or cable tie the laundry basket that you've put a 8 inch round hole in on one end of the basket. For the base which is normally the top part of the laundry basket you use 2 or 3x 5/8 x 30 L painted reinforcing bar for weights, 2x pieces of 2 x 4 x 20 L hardwood with 3 holes partly drilled in which reinforcing bar goes into, plastic Safety Barrier Mesh as netting & perforated metal strapping on a roll that you screw around the outside of the wood to pull the reinforcing bars tightly into the wood. Make sure that you wind 3/16 rope around reinforcing bar, around plastic safety barrier mesh & around the basket so that no crabs can escape. Mount a mesh bag to the other end inside the pot for the bait & mount your rope to the wood for retrieval.

    Do you ever flare the ends of your rod tubes. Use a heat gun and a glass bottle. Push the bottle into the opening when it’s soft and it will flare the ends .

    @solarfunction1847 Před 4 lety +2

    If you really want to cut down the spending on materials for those crab pots, then you can do without the perforated strap & reinforcing bars & just use recycled pallet wood & weigh each corner of the crab pot down with small plastic milk bottles that have handles on the bottles & fill it with sand as you tie the handles around the base of the crab pot.

    One thing when working and gluing PVC,don't just glue them.Buy some PVC cleaner and use it,take all stickers off where glue is going to be,clean the PVC well (both pieces) then use your glue.Using glue alone doesn't allow it to adhere to the PVC as well and it will work/break lose over time.

    Love it. But may I add my 2 cent. Lol. Now I'm not there I don't no but I have made them. Here in Louisiana we got bumpy roads. So me on the first one ide make one airport right in the middle of the pipe to hold it up so it don't bounce and go down or lean forward just Incase. I no them rod and reels got weight to them. I made the same set up but with 7 rod holders on the back of my wheel chair or 6 rods and one umbrella. I got to have due to lupas blisters me. But as I said I'm not there it may be good and tight. Just bumpy roads do weird things. My truck had ladder rack which I added sheet thick plywood on top to help hold my boat ok. And also I built rod rack like that but my rods went streight back. Help like 10 or so rods my small and big. Even held my net from falling out. But weight was issue. So I took a rope and went from one side to the other 2 times when I pulled tight it pulled the rods up. Which also if you wanted to steal you had to take knots and alot rope out. Or cut it. Lol. But I miss that. Now I got SUV so there hanging from the sealing. Hey works. I want to make a rod rack on top. But want it to flip out and back on but haven't got that done yet been to sick. But love your way alot. The second perfect set up the steal inside good idea. But I was thinking. Ok you got alot rods there one breaks got another. But you could keep 2 rods in the pipe. Say your out. See some kids fishing got broken rods or reels. Not many giveaway few hundred dollar rod and reel. Well been giving for years but. Haven't gave one I've hundred yet. But add few rods in he pipe. Keep few reels open face or push button. Your out fishing you see a kid who meds a blessing. You talk to him how family. Find out they don't have much but there kids loves to fish and is useing gramps's old rod and reel. Kids don't are there fishing. You go pull a rod out and reel ask the parent do you mind. Ide. Love to help him or her fish more. Then say here want to try this one. Kids gonna o yea. They fish a while. Then the kid says here thanks. No you keep I got plenty. Just do me fav. Fish have fun and smile. Then you both fill blessed. Man I miss going out fishing and helping the kids fish I really need my health better. But hey I loved your vidoe awsome as always.
