- These homes are a new and innovative housing design, built here in Nanaimo, BC. Featuring all the amenities of a large home, but with a small 12 x 12 footprint, this is functional living with style. Shaw TV Nanaimo's Derek Johnstone shares the story.

what i mean is EVERYONE will make little houses like this because its by far the best way to do it
My brain is saing "no way!", looking at the inside & outside camera shots! It doesn't seem the all that can fit that tiny cube! It's awesome!!!
This is one of the best designs I've seen. Wish I could buy one and have it shipped to Maine.
The tradeoff with size is quality. When you build a big house, you may be paying $175/ft2, but your quality may suffer. When you build a small house, you can really afford quality, so you may pay $250/ft2. That's why small houses sometimes seem to cost so much. Totally worth it!
Great design, except for the kitchen sink. I've lived in places with similarly sized sinks, and because of their size, it's almost impossible to wash some larger items (for instance, things which can't go into the dishwasher) without creating one heck of a nasty mess. I upsized to a sink large enough for my LeCruset frying pan to lay flat in the bottom, a cookie sheet, or a roaster, and made two wooden toppers for the sink to give me more counter space. Why two? So I can either have the entire sink covered for counter space, or have half of it covered so the sink is accessible. That made a HUGE difference in the functionality of my kitchen!
I'm 14 and I really really want one !!!
Good for single dwelling place. Smart use of space is the way to go. We have a bigger version with a shipping container on our channel for a bigger green housing alternative.
I would buy one of these homes if they were available in the Montreal area and I would sell my condo, I would probably work a little bit on the outside esthetics so people do not confuse these homes for sheds, the model with the 2 glass french doors looks more like a home.
Very nice, I'm glad I was able to find this video now I want to design my own.
want one, love it
best one ive seen so far, this is like the 'three pedals' in modern cars... if you drive an auto then this means little
I am really interested in living one of these.
it's beautiful
Super cool! I'd love to purchase one and live in one!
@ObsessedXP Depends on the area. In many parts of the U.S. you can get a large/very nice house for just $300,000.
this would be good for kid leaving parents house and college student. to have their first place.!!!!!
Good, brand new house building cost around $10000. Search for Cube affordable houses in youtube and go to their website. They offer lots of small and big premises for less money.
im curious to see what they would do for 15x15
I want one! can't find a website to get more info.
This house would be easy to clean...just set the vacuum down and turn it on. The mice would be hunchback. One fart and the walls would be brown. If he had a big screen tv in that house it would double as a room divider.
I thought that Ryan Clark guy was 'Rylan Clark.'
Too bad this isn't road legal this would be so cool on a trailer
How much would these be to rent and are there any in Victoria BC? I would love to rent one for me and my cat.
How can I get the building plans? I love it.
are there plans for this?
How can I contact this people??? I want one!!!
wow I really like how much is the cost,.
are these legal to make a live in it
How much approx. is the home??
I love the concept and would live in a tiny house. The issue is however. Where do you put your house? Where do you dump your sewer and get your water from. I have not to date been able to find answers to these questions.
You pull permits and dig a well and bury a septic tank
$24,500
@twtilla2011 The house alone is like $24,000. Kind of a lot..
