When I edited this episode I wasn't sure whether I should upload it or not, as I am complaining about the difficulties of being a solo cycling woman, but it is what it is, and I needed to express my anger.
So here I am, telling you about my struggles on the road, getting invited by wonderful people and then finally crossing the German border!
I can't believe I am back where I started cycling a year ago.
But one thing is certain: I won't stay for too long!

Oh it happens more than you think. Whenever my girlfriend goes jogging, she sometimes gets catcalled and even followed by creepy men. It's disgusting.
@@Neil.C57510 Damn... My gf still goes jogging, but she's also not afraid to call these guys out. I always remind her to take her phone, gives me some peace of mind at least.

I liked Belgium a lot! Situations like the one I was experiencing happen everywhere and that has nothing to do with the country itself. People in Belgium were friendly af. I'd come back any time!
So sorry to hear your story about those three Belgian men in the café. The majority of men I (64, German, cycle commuter) know is different. What made me extra mad is the fact that obviously nobody else was in the café to interfere with their impertinent actions, not even the owner or staff. Watching your videos makes me think about packing a bit of stuff on my own bike and start to wherever winds and roads lead me.
Please post something soon. This is better than anything on Netflix. You have such an adorable personality. So pleasant to watch you❤❤

Sorry to hear about your troubles at the coffee shop. I wouldh've thought as a moden society we had progressed past that. Enjoy the winter in the Canary Islands.
I'm really sorry to hear that you encounter such men whilst travelling around. It's simply not acceptable behaviour - nobody should have to feel how they no doubt made you feel. I hope the world balances things out and brings some good, kind people to you!

L. , Somewhat surprisingly even as an older male bikepacker I have run into negative ‘locals’ during my 1,000 mi Tour Divide ride. It was as if I was a very unwelcome outsider. One can only ignore such people, and move away at a brisk pace. I am looking forward to your winter pursuits. Happy Holidays 🎉

Your way of sharing is so real. You come across as a believable person...especially when sharing your rage about the male neanderthals you encountered in the coffee shop. Sucks that women still have to put up with this. I'm a 72 year old male planning my first longish touring run, Chur to Amsterdam. I like the idea of a year of touring Europe but I have 4 darling grandkids and being away a few weeks is all I can stand!

Thank you for sharing your adventures. Some day I would love to tour Europe by bike. I apologize for the skumbags that I am sure consider themselves as real men. Being a father of daughters that type of behavior is not acceptable. As us redneck yanks would say "they need to be taken out back and taught some manners".

That totally sucks. That is the advantage of being an older female rider. I will not get that same sexual crap. I just started riding at 52. Plus, I'm slightly plump. (that will probably disappear as I ride more). Basically - no one will pay attention to me. (at least they didn't on the 4 day biking trip I did alone this fall.)

I'm based in antwerp and when they call it the bike highway I always laugh. Sure you have noticed standard cycle paths in the Netherlands are way better then our "bicycle highway". It's just ridiculous! Great to have found your channel! Great content!

Das Catcalling wird besser wenn man älter wird denke ich. Ich bin mit Anfang 50 von Bremen nach München mit dem Rad allein gefahren und habe es nie erlebt. Eher besorgte Männer, die mich fragten ob ich keine Angst vor Weirdos hätte. Meine Antwort war dann immer ob ich Angst vor ihnen haben müsste. Und wirklich auch viele nette Männer, mit einem netten Holländer bin ich abends essen gegangen und habe mich toll unterhalten. Auf einem Campingplatz hat mal einer sehr vorsichtig versucht Kontakt herzustellen, wenn ich keine Lust auf ein Gespräch habe sage ich immer sehr bestimmt, dass ich nicht an einer Konversation oder Kontakt interessiert bin. Ich habe insgesamt eine Taktik entwickelt es quasi auszudünsten, wenn ich nicht angesprochen werden will, egal ob Mann oder Frau. Funktioniert fast immer, ist wohl ein Körperspracheding. Soll übrigens überhaupt kein Victim Shaming sein, sondern nur die Hoffnung das Falten und älter werden auch ihr Gutes haben.
Danke dass du deine Erfahrung hier teilst. Körpersprache und ein entschiedenes "ich will grade nicht kommunizieren" helfen teilweise, aber manche Menschen verstehen nicht wann genug ist und manchmal muss ich meiner Wut darüber Raum geben. Mit dem älter werden hab ich noch nicht so viel Erfahrung😅 aber ich freue mich auf entspanntere Tage und hoffe, dass die Welt sich einbisschen ändert.

First I was only using my phone, then I added a drone to my equipment and recently I upgraded to a GoPro:)) for navigation I use komoot :)
What a dreadful experience in that coffee place, disgusting behaviour, by those guys, like they've stepped back a few hundred years in civilisation. I hope you're spared from that in the future, but it worries me that this still exists.
