    My friends and I have done this series this week and had a great time....we are making an accountability commitment and want to keep each other on track with it because it seems like the key to getting things straight from the past that haunts us by clearing the decks and dealing with EVERYTHING NEW that enters our homes and minds AND at the same time when we get to the point of only having to deal with what today brings, we have time to do all the things we love and enjoy....thanks Diane...AGAIN!! 🎇🎇🎇💐

    I have really enjoyed this series, Diane!! It is so freeing to take all the things in my head and write it down! It puts it right in front of me and helped me to get so much more accomplished last week!! This week I started sorting the mail AT THE MAILBOX! What a novel idea! It took an extra minute....but then it was DONE! No mail pile cluttering up my kitchen table for the "later" that never came. Blessings to you!

    Could you please do a 31 day challenge on how to get fit and healthy . I know! You're going to say that there are lots of CZcams videos on getting fit and healthy ,but you make everything more normal and realistic and easy to follow ( which is doable). ( Like the flylady baby steps) please. Thank you

    Thank you so much for making things seem so possible and realistic. I am doing well on my routines, I have just listened to David Allen GTD and am delighted to put the two systems together. I really enjoy and look forward to your videos, very refreshing to hear a Scottish accent and not American (sorry USA) Im Irish and its nice to see/hear a European point of view. Thanks for all you do - Anne Marie

    Hi Diane. Feeling equally overwhelmed yet strangely more calm with having a plan instead of a mountain of chores, tasks, errands and emails. 📖 Using your analogy I shall no longer be the "bag lady" of my home.🛍 I am paring down slowly in little "purse sized" chunks.👛 Haha
    Thank you 🌹

    Diane, Thank you very much for all your inspiration! FYI: 2 days before seeing this video I actually went through 42,000+ emails in approx. 25 hrs.! Only about 30 were important to see. (Friends/Family/ Bills already paid). Most emails I considered "Marketing".....or "old news" from a news source, etc. I "unsubscribed" to everything now from stores, etc. Once I "unsubscribed from frequent source of emails, I found it quick for me to go to settings so that I could view 100 emails/time. I then checked "all" emails using upper left hand corner box (gmail) & only unchecked anything important to view thereafter. Then deleted all the other emails still checked. Like you said, Diane, it felt wonderful to clear out my inbox! I didn't think it was possible to scan so many titles & go thru important ones, etc., but it was. Since then, the last 2 days I just got approx.6 emails that were quickly handled! For people who want advertisements for coupons from favorite stores they may wish to register with "unroll.me" There you can set it up that emails from stores selected will go directly to "unroll. me" folder automatically to view only if planning to shop! Otherwise, you NEVER need to see them! Just be sure to re-register when time expires or you will get flooded with emails as I once did. I now am trying to forgo all marketing, intentionally putting my mind onto better things like "minimalism" & "Flylady" & "Getting Things Done" & my creative projects.

    So many little things done makes so much difference! Trimmed some emails - just a few categories here and there. Customized my weekly plan - still follows FlyLady but makes sense for me (GO ME!). Using my office in a bag to keep on top of mail, which I used to find intimidating - my mind is blown! Thank you so much for this!

    I started following you recently with the fly lady 31 baby steps. But I really enjoyed this getting things done video series. I make to-do lists and sometimes do them by room. I read getting things done like 20 years ago. I like how you made it for every day use. I love the sorting quadrants. So much easier to sort action needed. Thank you!

    I have a little voice activated recorder and I think I will dig it out and put it to use for my random thoughts and see how I do with it. I used during it lectures when I was in nursing school. It will fit right in my pocket or purse. Thanks so much for this series Diane it was wonderful. I’m just starting out with the FlyLady system and from the very first day of Shining my Sink i was shocked at how simply shining my sink gave me motivation to keep going.

    Thanks a lot for doing this series, Diane. I had heard of the system before, but now it seems manageable. I particulary like what you said about: let's be lazy and put that coat away straightaway (not to make more work for later). That combined with the 2-minute rule from gtd makes it click for me and my house stays picked up.

    Until now I write everything down in my little notebook. I love the way of colourcoding things.
    My notebook is always with me. I'm a bit afraid I could loose a single sheet of paper.

  • @maggiefindmusic
    @maggiefindmusic Před 6 lety +5

    You are so darling! I _love_ the bag analogy--makes perfect sense to me! One question about writing things down on a piece of scrap paper: what if we are so scatterbrained we keep losing the paper?! I've also tried using a notebook, but I get lost as well. Then o tried having a notebook for each category (one for craft ideas, one for house projects, etc) but I kept getting them mixed up. I love the idea, but I can't quite seem to get the execution down. (Although I did clean out my inbox--THAT was awesome!!!)

    • @darkbluematter1753
      @darkbluematter1753 Před 6 lety +5

      Ruth Gaynor have you tried just using one master bullet journal or planner or Filofax with all the lists/schedules/routines, etc. so that you only have one item to keep track of? I use a bullet journal that is small enough to fit in my purse. Another idea is using index cards that you keep on a ring or in an index card keeper, the small size means you can slip them in your purse. Last idea is digital if you have a smart phone--use your notes app and keep a note for each category of lists. Then you can brain dump, update, or review on your phone and hopefully that won't get lost, LOL. Just a few ideas to try. My main problem is I'm all thinking and planning and no action, LOL. Good luck!

      I put everything on my phone. Google calendar is awesome. Although using my phone does make me more susceptible to distractions.

    • @maggiefindmusic
      @maggiefindmusic Před 4 lety +1

      @@sibongilethwala7080 Thank you! I do not a few things on my phone, but it _is_ difficult to have to ignore the distractions. The method I finally came up with is to write on my kitchen tile with a white board marker. Lol Not for everybody, I an know, but it works since I spend most of my time at home (and in the kitchen) anyway.

    A fantastic interpretation of Dave Allen's methods; thank you so much. I am now more organised and feel in control but wondering if you have any suggestions for incorporating the four types of actions into the Fly Lady system. Would it be in Daily Focus, or a Routine, or a Mission? For example I will check items to action outside the home on Errand day - Thursday - that's an active Fly Lady trigger for me. But where would I slot Home - Desk - computer or Talking to Someone Else? I've been so involved in categorising papers, ideas, etc. but now realise that I need to be reminded to regularly check what needs done and do it. PS I have used scrap paper sheets and not rushed out and bought stickers!

    • @DianeinDenmark
      @DianeinDenmark  Před 6 lety +1

      I check my lists every day (talk to my hubby/kids when they are home, etc), but things like the Computer list you could do as part of Plan and Play day (for me, that's Tuesday).

    Hi Diane, thanks for doing this series - it is great. I am still unsure how to document a big project, which has multiple steps? I am thinking of something like Christmas. How do you keep everything written down? Or another example would be planning an overseas trip. So many to do's & next steps...passports, visas, luggage, accommodation etc. I would love a more detailed video explaining how to write it all down x
