Would anyone care to share their family's favorites for the guides? I can't decide, lol! What's most important to me is comprehension. Which ones tend to goe the deepest without having unnecessary busy-work?

Is there a "Day-By-Day" guide available?

Literature guides in general are flexible. If you have a child who zips through a book or a child who needs time to digest what they have read, a lit guide will accommodate both of them. They are going to direct the reader to read a couple of chapters and answer the following questions. That could take a child one day or 4 days to complete. Your reader sets the pace, not the guide itself.
