Love the reference to Doug all the time.... you really need him there to show off your layout.
absolutely brilliant,.....2 words that sum it up.....i hope when the sorting office is finished, there`ll not be any industrial action going on there...lol.....so good to see....cheers..ade
Hi you two, I agree wholeheartedly with using the lightweight cardboard honeycombing. I never understood using all sorts of heavy benchwork to hold up very lightweight trains, track, and scenery. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I look forward to your next episode on all your layouts. Take care. Bye.
Thanks Norman
Very interesting , so many of us building layouts at this time .
Great little layout. So much potential,
So many ideas, your enthusiasm is catching. It looks great and those raised parts made from the foam are very promising.
Thanks
Auto-brake coach-YES! I like that idea!
Three in one!
Starting to come together [Rome was not built in a day] looking forward to further progress. You are creating a nice variety for this layout. Cheers Greg
Thanks Greg
Loving this idea your layouts are always very inspiring thanks
Great ideas for small spaces, I love it ! The complet autonomous branch line railway station is an excellent one, both realistic, with a good dose of scenic and trafic potential, and prototypical in some ways. A complete minimal station that fits anywhere, my favorite concept !
I grew up with corregated cardboard, no polystyrene in those days and paper mache....great layout with 3d not flat...
I love how you change your mind all the time so you can make the layout more and more interesting and make best use of the space and materials you have. Found your videos really really useful for my own small layout and taken lots of your ideas for platforms and scenery. Many thanks
We tend to evolve rather than plan and design
Great video as always, keep up the great work and thank you for all the videos. Stay safe
Thanks for watching, stay safe
Looks great so far, looking forward to seeing what it looks like at the end of lockdown, when ever that might be... Just think of all of us still working (unfortunately) who don't have much more time for model railways haha!
I got some of the OO9 coaches I ordered the other day, great little kits! Highly recommended, the same with all your kits honestly.
Many thanks
Coming along nicely
really nice trackplan.
IMO, the country station makes the 'open' section seem a tad cluttered, but it isn't my layout, so no problem.
The use of corrugated card is an absolutely wonderful idea. Strong and light and at no cost. 👍🏾
We have made most of our layouts from card, our old exhibition layout was on three levels , all made from card including the baseboard
looks fantastic very creative, good luck with it ATB.
Thanks
Starting to really take shape and love the plans ……...Keep safe ……..Cheers Kev
You guys are amazing role models in the model railway building community! It's very admirable how you're always willing to change and have new ideas.
Can't wait for more progress :D
Thats very kind thanks
It looks great, and I've got so much done to my a small layout as like you say we will be busy after lock down and I 'll be hopefull back at work with my airline at Gatwick? , and talking of books don't know if I told you about the Ian Alan lost lines books? As got 3 of them now on lines in Wales and London and the Midland and some great ideas for small branch lines and ideas for small branch trains , brilliant books and only a few quid on e bay .
I have two, one on Sussex and one on east Anglia, they are great
@@BudgetModelRailways must get the Sussex one some time too , yes they are brilliant books.
Great video, love the way your layouts evolve and change, you allways give your self options, keep going.
Great stuff as always, wish I had that much space but alas turned it into a cinema room before I caught the model railway bug!
Very realistic showing how cities grew up and over as well as around the railway lines
It's coming along nicely
could you add a page on your website where you show all of your layouts in their latest stages
Our layouts are constantly evolving, it would be a big job to keep up!
It's looking really good like that you're getting your countryside in as well. The sorting office is a great idea too, you could always put a tac rank in under one of your other gaps a bit like Waverly in Edinburgh. Guess it means you have more of your station viewable at a ground level too.
Have you ever used any of the words worth free buildings just in the middle of making a low relief modern shopping park for my back corner on my raised area looks OK too.
Tac rank I can't type taxi rank even 😱
The layout is starting to look busy. Nice
Thanks
It would be amazing if you could do some sort of auto uncoupler with some staples and magnets
Auto couplers are OK if you always want to uncouple in the same place, I don't tend too
Loving it! Great work....I get lots of bad news bout quick scenics, what is your opinion. I find they’re often lighter and subtle on detail...
looking good guys I like the raised area`s quite a bit .
Thanks
It does look very good, its made me think of a little side station like you are making! I am starting to think that a model railway (not train set) is never really finished it just evolves with time and ideas! But i love working on new bits and ideas for it.Just a quick question for you if i may,i got a couple of sheets of largish polystyrene can you paint that ok? Thanks :)
Should be able to but use acrylic not oil based or enamel
@@BudgetModelRailways Thanks very much for the reply :)
I built baseboards out of 5mm foamboard. Still need a couple more sheets for bracing and backscene
great stuff as ever boys well done
Thanks
Looking great u should my have worried it would be to urban decently add Rowland hill village it can be it's last resting place and the slight interference might be electricity from the track but not sure overall looking great
sorry lots of spelling mistakes apolligies
i meant to say "Looking great I should not have worried it would be too urban defiantly add Roselands hill village it can be its last resting place and the slight interference might be electricity from the track but not sure overall looking great"
Great idea with the country station, maybe an appropriate place to put the Greenhill halt and Roselands hill village in. The idea of the post office works well and thee whole layout is starting to remind me of how it was in update 4. Also liked the little historical note about the construction of the light railway. Maybe an idea for the canal could be to have it lead into a tunnel at the end of the scene.
I will do a history of the branch line at some point linking into actual history if you see what I mean
good to hear although I doubt the layout will be the same next time, that is why I like the way you model: just reading books and popping buildings down until you get the desired look.
also for the rural section it might be an idea to build a stone retaining wall rather than a brick one.
@@ewanfawkes2708 I had the same thought
I like the canal tunnel idea
Looking great
Thanks
Brilliant video
Thanks
could you do a series of live scratch building build along going from start to finish so people can do it at the same time as you do it? just a thought.
We have three or four videos on buildings from start to finish so hopefully one of those will be helpful
@@BudgetModelRailways I know as I have seen them .it was just as something you could do and also they are all like at least 2-3 years old and I was thinking that you would use different techniques and than then.
Really good progress can we see a running session soon on this layout.
Its planned, probably once the layout is finished
Looking great. Great use of waste materials.
Could you please advise me on a problem I have ? my train stops when it has passed my peco electrofrog point. The main loop is powered but the train stops when past the branch off
I would make a guess that its an insulfrog point? If its a brand new one then they can be made either insulfrog or electofrog.
Where do you get these railway books from? Charity shops or something like amazon? These sound quite interesting
EBay and charity shops
Is there an English translation for the word 'Lokbahnhof'? Because that is basically what you are building there. Try to get hold of a PDF edition of Miba Spezial number 69 if you need additional inspiration
Cant find a translation but I believe bahnhof is railway station and I'm guessing lok is local?!
@@BudgetModelRailways It is not that translatable I think, but it means that you have a station with a locomotive shed capable of basic maintenance.
Hi me and my girlfriend are doing my own layout in 00 scale but its only bout 3 by 2 foot as not got enough room dus it matter to do with size.let me no.
You have to use the size you have lol.
how are the military wagons coming along
Still in the planning stage, long way down the project list I'm afraid!
@@BudgetModelRailways ok what is the current model your working on
@@kasptv7734 currently we are snowed under just keeping up with orders, so it will be sometime before we look at developing need models
✓ 👌
Be careful when using foamboard. If you paint it with acrylic paint it warps ...
Ive never had that problem?
can you use cardboard for the top as well been thinking along they lines for ages
instead of foam board
Cardboard would be fine, we actually used card under the double raised running line
@@BudgetModelRailways ok thanks no im of top tescos to get a box
@@BudgetModelRailways i forgot to mention it is a biggish area 2ft x1ft
Your mic is harming got bad
It would help if you kept the camera still. Not a critism, just me.
You cant really keep the camera still and film all the layout, in three different directions?
@@BudgetModelRailways Panning is fine, It's the random movement which confuses me when I want to look at something. When is your next live stream?
Possibly next week, its trying to fit everything in?
