    Great information
For me the key was cortisol. I reduced stress, changed job, country, got rid of some toxic people and doing 100 things from early in the morning till late late at night and a year later I stopped the medication cause I felt I didn't need itI informed my doctor about 3 months later after I checked my blood.kept checking every 3 months. Almost 4 years now, still no meds, hopefully it will keep that way

    • @tredjesongen
      @tredjesongen Před rokem +7

Yup. Kortisol. Extreme stress in childhood when organs develop leads to vulnerability for autoimmune disease.
Everybode get to have toxic stress from time to time in their life.
After a horrible time twelve yrs ago got Graves. Treated and got well after couple months. Now,after again unbelievable stressful time its back. Soo..stress must go. Whatever it takes. Just saying.
Looong before gluten or other minor details. Went vegan, that kept it away for over a decade. But long periods of stress outside control got me this time.
Worst of all is that doctors are so nonchalant about the danger. The worst is osteoporosis. So it cant go on for years. Think of it as no compromize. Stress must go,or remove yourself from toxic people. That is the real battleground.
Doctors have tunnel vision and their pet peeves.

I had no symptoms other than losing weight very easily. The specialist told me 'here, take 6 of these pills for your thyroid, these 3 for your heart'. When I told her I wanted a second opinion for the treatment she started yelling that I could die at any second. I said ok, never went back to her office again. I'm currently being treated with Traditional Chinese Medicine. No gluten, no lactose, no soy, and no sugar & processed foods.

Great information! I did the research and told my first endocrinologist that I believed cutting gluten really helped my symptoms and he said it had nothing to do with eachother but it was my choice if I wanted to do that. I changed doctors and asked if I should get the gluten tests but because I had already cut it from my diet it wouldn’t be accurate and I would have to consume gluten at least for 2 weeks to see if I had the antibodies. It wasn’t worth it to me because I completely feel the difference after going gluten free. Also been taking selenium consistently since being diagnosed and it has been amazing for my immune system! Thanks for confirming that for me.

I was diagnosed with diabetes a year ago; put on medication, but decided to treat myself holistically. Because of my age , I was also going through the menopause ; symptoms quite similar hyperthyroid; aches hot flashes weight loss ( diabetes issues).
By eliminating gluten , sugar and “said supplements; all symptoms had gone and gained amazing energy and skin.
Personally I think gluten and sugar contributes to many illnesses. It’s a shame it’s not information given to patients by mainstream doctors.

Thanks. I read the list and I have to say that I drink a lot of milk and coffee but a couple of years ago cut down my milk and coffee consumption and it did help my Graves symptoms now that I think about it.
I must say thank you for finally someone is addressing the real heart of the problem when it comes to Graves because every single specialist I have seen just wants to rip my thyroid out and I tell them that I don’t want to trade the problems I have for the problems they will cause by doing that and I ask them “have you got anything to offer that deals with the antibodies which is the actual cause of Graves?” And they always say “no unfortunately” . They try to scare me and tell me that I might die if I didn’t have my thyroid out and I tell them “we are all going to die someday” but at the best breath they ask me if the student doctor’s can attend my appointment because “graves patients never end up in hospital so they never get to see them on rounds”
So anyway thank you for the tips and I will do some more investigating on what foods are causing me issues because it would be nice to get my levels back under control.

I got diagnosed just about 3 months ago and put on thyroid medication. After being diagnosed I tried so hard to eat healthy and exercise, I cut down on my calories a lot but it didn't matter because I started to gain weight anyways. The weight gain made me really discouraged since if felt like I had worked so hard for nothing. So 2 weeks ago I began eating LCHF instead, so no gluten, no sugar (and no carbs obviously) and I've already lost the weight that I put on during those months. So if anyone is struggling to lose weight while on medication I think a Low Carb High Fat diet is at least worth a try. Though do keep in mind that all diets works different depending on age and if/ how much you have dieted before. I'm 17 and have not dieted at all before which may be one of the reasons why this might work for me but not somebody else.

I am on my third trimester of pregnancy and was diagnosed with Graves’ disease just a month ago. My thyroid function and antibodies were too high during the first trimester, but the only symptom I had was 2 weeks of anxiety attacks. I was prescribed PTU for 4 weeks and been off it for 10 weeks now. Everything is now on the low-normal levels save for antibodies which the docs fear could cross the placenta to my baby.
Baby’s heart rate has always been normal and no goiter has been seen. I also don’t have any symptoms - no hair loss, weight loss, eye problems, swelling of the thyroid, depression/anxiety, None of these! We have to be in battle mode with this mentally, physically and emotionally and not let this beat us.
I am taking only Calcium in the a.m. and iron at night, but thinking of adding vit D3 and Omega supplements. I moderate my carb and sugar consumption and don’t eat out as best as I can. I never skip working out daily 2 times at least, HIIT if I don’t have much time, cardio or strength training, and yoga in the a.m and p.m, so my arms do not feel weak at all but I feel strong.
I struggled with GERD and Endometriosis in the past and have healed naturally in 4-6 months from eating healthy and regular exercise. On a side note, when my body is dealing with some illness, I get glutathione IV shots which I get administered by my GP. Glutathione is a supplement widely used in Asia for its health benefits but administered via IV is most effective. My dose was 600 mg of gluta IV per week. My doctor said, you can’t overdose on it. Worst case is you pee out what your body doesn’t need of it.
Disclaimer: research on glutathione IV and as for diet, regularly get check ups to see if you’re on the right track.

@@grisssrodriguez7241 sorry about that. I hope you’re surrounded by people who love and understand you. Hard times and you are brave for weathering it.
My thoughts would get crazy (and dark) during the pregnancy at the height of the anxiety, but it has been a good year or so since I gave birth. At my 37th week, I was declared “in remission” for hyperthyroidism all due to good diet, exercise, and meditation.
7 months post-birth, I felt something similar to palpitations at a resting state, and my antibodies have gone up again. My GP wants me to wear this heart monitor vest (that you can’t take off for 24 hrs) to cross out the chance that it is something heart related. It wasn’t, it was the graves. I still haven’t addressed that since my last check up due to covid (busy hospitals). But otherwise I’m good. The heart racing happens maybe once every 2 or 3 months.
Honestly, sometimes, doctors can stress me out. I have seen two diff doctors, one freaks me out (told me they were alarmed my hands were shaking when stretched out but I was nervous that day being in the hospital really), and the other tells me to relax and keep up with my checkups.
The advices given here are really good. I hope you are feeling better today. ❤️

I had a horrible attack of diverticulitis this summer and was put on an IV with Flagyl & Cipro for four days, the two most powerful antibiotics that kill everything good or bad. Went home with same antibiotics in pill form for 10 days. I lost 22 pounds in two weeks (144 to 122), all my muscle was gone, totally out of breath, tremors, insomnia, and night sweats. GI doc couldn't explain why I was so exhausted but one of my test showed almost nonexistent TSH (thyroid). He referred me to an Endocrinologist and she said that the antibiotics can kick in hyperthyroidism at the level I was taking. I just had blood drawn again and getting an ultrasound on my thyroid today. Hoping this is a temporary situation. I've ordered many supplements to treat myself naturally. I do not want to go on thyroid medicine. This is another reason why I despise antibiotics but I had to take them because I had a horrible infection. Will post an update next week after I review the results with my endo.

I have one nagging question that I've been obsessing over for days, my TSI is at 90% and your blog says "...not every single case of elevated TSI is indicative of Graves' disease" which is consistent with what my Endo says. I used to be hyPO (not extreme case but I had many symptoms so was put on levothyroxine 100mg), after nearly a decade my TSH started to drop reaching 0.02 at one point!

So it is important to take it until you can get your levels back to normal. I have gained weight since I have been on the Methimazole. It sucks. I don't eat much. But I gain for no reason. I still don't look to do the Radioactive Iodine yet. Even if you do that, you will still have Grave's Disease. Then you will be put on Hypothyroidism medication for the rest of your life. He didn’t know what I needed to do to change my diet when I asked, so I did my own research, stopped drinking sodas, coffee, and all caffeine, became a pescatarian. I ran out of medication and stopped taking it (I don’t recommend this but this is what happened to me). I was off of methimazole for 4 weeks, went back for my checkup and bloodwork, and told my doc I had stopped taking the meds. He was shocked! All my levels were all back to normal, thank the Lord! 🙌🏾He took me off of the medicine. I wish I could say that I stuck to pescatarian, but unfortunately Thanksgiving, and the holidays were coming and I started eating meat again and drinking coffee, and guess what? For my annual physical my levels were abnormal again. I’m now 31, and am researching again about low carb and hyperthyroidism, and I just started being pescatarian again. While I have the meds and haven’t been taking them faithfully, I don’t want this or all of the side effects that come with hyperthyroidism to control me for the rest of my life. I refuse to take meds if it’s within my power to do something about it like changing my diet. With the Lord, I can do this. I would say research, search for holistic options. Food is medicine, within reason, as long as your levels are not drastically serious. Eat better, and your body overall will start feeling better.

I stopped seeing my old endocrinologist because he and his assistant were trying to pressure me into doing radioactive iodine treatment or thyroid surgery. I was having none of it. I felt like I'm 23 years old why giving me such an option that can make me have to rely on pharmaceutical companies for the rest of my life. I decided that I needed to eat healthy sometimes I slip every now and then but I'm very dedicated to becoming a healthy eater. I also cut off all of the stress that happens in my life and no longer allowing people to mess up my peace because of the disease that I have now. I'm also drinking water and taking things one day at a time. Even when I do go see my new endocrinologist June 13th I'm going to let him know that in no way shape or form am I going to do the radioactive iodine treatment or thyroid surgery. I have a nodule on my thyroid but I got it checked and it's normal as of right now. Pray to God it stays that way and i'm going to continue to get it checked every 4 to 6 months🙌🏿 I was just telling someone else in another thread that these doctors will rush so much information on you at one time that allow you to think about what you want to do. It's always best to research and once I researched about radioactive iodine treatment that it doesn't help you with just killed your thyroid and it might make you develop thyroid cancer absolutely not and plus it's radiation. I was recently diagnosed with Graves Disease but I've been suffering with it for a few years. The extreme muscle weakness is just scary. I've been prescribed Tapazole 5mg with two tablets a day. Muscle weakness and extreme hair loss is what caused me to see doctors. My hair loss is keeping me from being social and I'm suffering from depression. I've been told that Tapazole can cause hair loss but I read so many different opinions on the drug. What should I do? Does it cause hair loss or is the drug dangerous? Can anyone help with any information? Is there anyone watching this who has been prescribed this medication? If so, did it help you and what dose are you taking? I'm going to try and find some support groups online as there is none in person where I live. Any help is great help! Thank you

I was told that if you have a Thyroidectomy your Graves’ disease will go away, I have Graves’ disease hyperthyroidism, was hospitalized over 2 weeks with Thyroid storm and diagnosed last Jan. 2023. They have started recommending Thyroidectomy.

    • @tessmoore3762
      @tessmoore3762 Před 7 měsíci +1

It goes away because you won't have a thyroid gland. You will have hypothyroid though and have to be on synthetic thyroid medication for the rest of your life. You will struggle with weight gain because you won't have a thyroid gland. If I were you I'd try the natural things first, diet, and supplements before doing something as drastic as removing an organ.

Thank you. I am very sick to the point where I had to leave my job. I went to doctors for 2 years. My thyroid is huge and I think I may be experiencing thyroid storm. I am going to go to the er soon as I just found it from you that it can be deadly. One doctor took a look at my neck and sent me to a surgeon. The surgeon bounced me back to the doctor to find out why my thyroid was huge. Smh. I lost a massive amount of weight for no apparent reason and now i have put on an astonishing amount of weight. I was wondering if it is possible to go from hypothyroidism to hyperthyroidism?

Thank you so much for all this info. I am due for a radioactive iodine uptake scan test to check for nodules for my Graves’ disease. I am hesitant to do the test because I have to take a radioactive pill or liquid, which might cause other cancers in the future. Do you think this test is necessary for me to take?

Always combine Zinc with Copper, like 20 mg Zinc with 2 mg Copper.
Selenium is in Brazil nuts (aka Para nuts) in large amounts.
When taking daily, have no more than one or two nuts, to avoid negative effects.
Do your own research by Google on subjects...
