He is one of the greatest jazz trombonists ever, and a really amazingly nice and humble guy. I was booked to go ITF this year to see him and my father was diagnosed with colon cancer the day before. I called a good friend of mine who I was due to meet down there and told him the deal why I wouldn't be there. The next day I got a call at 12 am , and it was Bill Watrous!! Evidentally my friend had told Bill what had happened and he took it upon himself to call me and wish me all the best. : )
