- Tabla maestro Pt. Swapan Chaudhuri's performance at the FEA-curated Past/Present festival in Kolkata was nothing short of brilliant.
In this epic one and a half hour recital, he demonstrated a wide range of styles and techniques on the tabla, from traditional compositions to rarely heard bandishes from Khalifa Abid Hussain Khan-saheb and others, tukras and farad compositions to chakradars.
He was ably supported by Dilshad Khan on the sarangi.
OMG! That tihai beginning at 51:12 was the BEST thing I've heard on a tabla... And I've been hearing great tabla for so many years.
This was by far one of his finest performances. There was some incredible magic in this and you can see it on his face from the first minute.

Its tradition that few Disciples come with their Master. So they can listen and learn. It has more reasons tho
First of all you should know many tehjeebs in Indian culture before listening any pure classical music. There is a vast difference between a dude and disciple. I am also a disciple of a legend tabla player so I know it well that just sitting idle on the stage with his guru is such a hard and long path. They have definitely earned it after paying lot of hard work and talent.
