    I highly recommend removing the dowels in your cages and using natural perches instead. They can cause sores and joint issues and aren’t healthy for a bird to be on for longer periods.

    We find our finches also like the plain canary grass seed that can be brought in pet shops, useful when you can't get wild grass. Did you manage to see the email pictures OK, I could not see the pictures very well on my phone.

    • @paradiseaviary
      @paradiseaviary  Před 3 lety

      @John Goose yes the plain canary is always a very good seed to add to the mix, I always incorporate it here into all my seed mixes. You just reminded about your email i had completely forgot!

    Just luv your videos...so full of good info. A question.... do you put anything in the water on the waterfall to stop the stones from turning green and mossy?

    • @paradiseaviary
      @paradiseaviary  Před 3 lety

      @Heather Domoney thank you 🙂. I have a small uv light thats suppose to stop the algea growth butttttt it does nothing to help so i just clean it once or twice a month. I stop the water flush the system and spray the rocks with a mix of clorox/water and this gets rid of all the algea while also sanitizing the waterfall.

    • @paradiseaviary

      Ive never tried but work the same just depends how much eggfood you have to make since those eggs are smaller youll need more quail eggs than you would chicken eggs.

      My female just died after laying her third clutch of unfertile eggs. They incubated the eggs perfectly, I think I lack in giving them live food stuff.
      They do breed, you should check his video where he arranges his cage so that it may look natural as possible for them. I personally cover the front part of the my cage so that they won't see me working there.

    • @paradiseaviary
      @paradiseaviary  Před 3 lety

      @JZaib Khan im so sorry to hear your hen died. what species was she ? Could have been age or a variety of other problems. With birds its can be very hard to get to the cause of death without doing an necropsy.

    • @jzaibkhan7864
      @jzaibkhan7864 Před 3 lety

      @@paradiseaviary It was a strawberry finch hen. The pair chose to make their own nest after I gave them a couple of options (watched your vid on it :) So they started laying eggs in September and she died past December. I helped them open up their nest after the second clutch got unfertile (the eggs were on top of each other). So when she was incubating her third I noticed she got bald, half of her feathers where gone and later the eggs were unfertile but they kept breeding till the end.
      It was my first time with strawberry finch so didn't know much about their behavior, I was hoping for them to moult but.... my bad.
