@@cosmothefunnyparrot It really reminds me of when my son, who has autism and a receptive language disorder, used to speak with echolalia, so I knew and understood (mostly) what he meant, but he didn't say it 'properly'. For example, I might say, "Are you thirsty? Do you want a drink?" And he would repeat it back to me to mean 'yes'. He didn't learn language the way most children do... And it really makes me wonder about this funny, clever bird because there's so much attached meaning even if the individual words aren't properly understood. Amazing!

Doesn't hurt that momma affirms things & repeats, really helps her learn & makes the effort to understand. Pronouns are very difficult & Cosmo likely doesn't have an ego (psychologically) like a human, so I'm impressed that she is so easy to understand - in terms of the meaning she wishes to convey.

They may be the best talkers . They're clear, quick to learn, contextual. They don't just mimic. Cosmo definitely assigns words/sounds to certain people who are constants or impressionable. For ex: she has a saying for her brother, for the dad. Mom says she's leaving & Cosmo reminds her to zoom there & back. Mommy must love coffee too! Lol Last week she kept talking about Marcia & Einstein. She seems to understand how to get the response she wants from Alexa. She's still so young and knows so much. It's obvious her original person and new family have been very interactive. The things she comes up with. Gizmo has conversations too. Apollo is only 3 and learning so much. Einstein is 30 and still seems to pick up new understanding. They all get so much socializing and interaction. They're also have significant age differences. It's neat to watch one that doesn't know anything all the way to one that's been around the block.

You know it’s a good toy when it “explodes.” 😂. It is always amazing how big a mess birds can make. We love them dearly, and they’re 100% worth it but you’d better love cleaning if you decide to share your life with a parrot.
I've watched AGs (and had an African Grey for many years in my childhood) but Cosmo is really clever the way speaks in context. The smartest I've seen and i thought ours was clever...

Many years ago I dated a guy who owned a Blue-Fronted Amazon parrot. The guy raised the bird from a baby. The bird could talk really well and was just the funniest thing. We never knew if the bird was male or female but it didn't matter. The bird's name was Cisco and had a very large iron cage on wheels and the perch on top made the thing even taller. On the perch was a stainless food cup. Cisco ate the best food and if there were peanuts on the bottom of the cup he or she would fling all the other food out on the floor to get the peanuts. What a mess.
