Thanks for watching and the support!
You probably won’t realize it till your older but it so nice to see a Dairy operation.
Hi from Australia Kip. I’m a retired hay and silage contractor out here. I was one of the first contractors to wrap bales over 35 years ago. Gave up the tube wrapper after 4 years when I imported the first combination bale wrapper to come into Australia. Have had six more since. Also gave up finger reel rakes 12 years ago and changed to double rotor rakes. They do a better job with less problems. And the European manufacturers are at least 10 years in front of North America. And Krone balers run rings around everything else on the market.
Wow, I never seen anything like that happen. I'll say it again, it's great to be on a family farm where each member has kind of a "specialty". I know we can all do all the jobs but each of us has a "talent" to bring to the table. Love your drone footage, you have a beautiful farm.
Glad you were close to home. Thank you for putting drone in the air. Your videos are real.
Your buyin ponies, what a great dad!
Even though the rake collapsed it's a blessing you had a backup Also would've been worse if it wasn't tedded May God bless you and your family
I’ve never seen a rake break like that!! Glad you had backup or some of that hay might still be in the field. Thanks for taking us along to the Fair. Brought back some great memories.
as a farm kid from the 50 ths, this is hard work now that farms have increased in size and loved this vidio and great dad and family, more equipment, more expenses, everything has to be done on time and the weather has to co operate and the stress that goes with farming. while the big stores clean up with huge profits.
That was a bummer on that rake breaking. Can’t get over how all the kids are growing. Beautiful family Kip.👍👍
Love watching your videos, we got about 3in of rain in about 45 min today ,,, Mother Nature at her finest
The old bar rake never lets you down.
Till the bar rake jams and fails. Kip moves a ton of thick heavy hay so often... even upgraded to a higher HP and bigger frame tractor. That will test any rake to the max!
Those New Holland rakes are the best rakes ever made!
@jayceredmer7300 Guess its the reason why New Holland stopped producing them.
@@CGW116A New Holland still makes Bar Style Rakes.
That’s a case of best made plans. Then Murphy comes along and says I have other plans for the day. Stay safe out there guys.
Well done for staying calm. You are a champion.
Nice video and drone footage
ANOTHER VERY INTERESTING VIDEO THANK 😊😊😊
Wow! Crazy how that just crunched back like that! Definitely blessed to have a back up. ❤🙏🏻🇺🇸
I hope you get your children involved with 4-H so they can raise animals for the fair. If’s a rewarding experience to watch your children work and show their animals. Happy you got the hay done before the storm. Thank you for feeding the people ❤️
So sorry about the rake
Hopefully it's back in action soon.
Great footage throughout the video and thanks for taking us along to the fair.
Be safe have fun God bless
Interesting video. The rake brakes hopefully your brother can fix it. Storm hits. The best part of the video watching you and the family at the fair.
Good show
Belts and suspenders. That was a good idea to have a backup hay rake.
WE used to go to the Goodell's fair every year as a kid. Such memories. You bring back my childhood!
Wow, going back to those old school new Holland rakes. Judy hard to beat when it comes to reliable.
Enjoyed watching the vðdeo😊
Thank you for sharing both the ups and downs of farming 😅😢😊
That Dolly System is nice for those Bar Rakes we had a Extendable Pipe on the front Rake and the Back rake Had a 3Rd wheel on the Tsung and it worked pretty good until we purchased the New 16 wheel Rake!
Hey Kip I wish we could get some of that rain here in South Eastern MN it's dry we're in a moderate drought so it wouldn't be bad to have some rain but not a lot at one time. It's weird how the weather is affecting the whole country. Stay safe man.
Great video Kip A rakeing we will go! A raking we will go! Oh crap.
I don't miss milking, I do love your vids
Hello! I just watched your video, it's very good, thank you for sharing, have a good day❤
Hope u get the rake fixed I'm glad it did not happen on the road love u guys❤
Sorry about the rake....always something.... You weremoving alot of thick hay. Nice video!!!! Loved the fair part. Ty..God bless 🙏🙏
Thanks for another great video. It was interesting and enjoyable.
Wow. Lots going on in this video.
Sorry about your big hay rack failure. Wow. That main cross bar broke in half. I suppose it has a lot of pressure on it going across the field. That will take some major redo efforts. Am sure you all can get it fixed and going again. You all are good at repairs.
The older rake you have did a great job and got the taking done. Good job Kip.
One thing after another in this video. Now the bad storm moves in and time to milk. Cows are scared.
What is going to happen next. Wow.
To bad on that wheat field. Probably got too tall and the heavy rain and wind knocked it down. Looks like you were able to get some of it through the combine and saved. Wow. Part of a tough couple days.
Thanks for showing us around the fair. We always did that also. Lots to see on the farm animals. Kids were enjoying it for sure.
You had a tough couple of days there. Hang in there. Knowing all of you, you will get things back on track snd going right.
Thanks for everything Kip. Sorry about the tough days there.
Take care and be safe. Thanks.
The Iowa Farm Boy. Steve.
Best video ever!❤ God Bless
Great video Kip. Bad weather, but at least you got the hay under cover. too bad the rake got badly damaged but it is fixable.
Kids were sure enjoying the fair, brings back memories when I was their age.
I live in Fenton MI. Good luck Katherine!!!
Good news. You have Greg.
I just wondered can you cut the wheat straw after the combine with discbine to get the wheat that's down and bale it It would help prevent volunteer wheat and get some bedding Keep up the great videos May God bless you and your family 🙏
That rake is toast! Be interesting how you plan on fixing it.
Time for a Rowse rake? 🤣
jk, you'll get it figured out... hopefully everything else withstood the pressure.
Bummer about the rake.
The Goodell’s fair brings back memories, I think it was 1978 when I had the reserve champion hogs.
At least someone is getting rain .here in west central Ohio .three hours south of you we are begging for a rain..
I've never seen a roll bar setup like that one left one right ain't a bad idea for cheap rake setup
I found that letting straw get rained on, dry out and it will shake out better.
Good to know.... I may have to try that.
The saddest part about the rake breaking is that we didnt get to hear the 4430 anymore. Hope that 4430 stays as your raking tractor enjoy watching it work.
❤😮
You’re an awesome dad‼️
How do you drag it halfway down the field without knowing it broke
Awesome channel! Been watching for 3 years… as with driving a car, speed kills!
I can see why it broke. It was not designed to work at those speeds you were driving.
That grass was heavy and you were driving quite fast.
Master fabricator here.
When i was watching. I said man this guy is flying with what rake. I told you so.
I'm surprised that thing holds up at all. The hay being spread nice and thin like that probably helps alot.
Beautiful storm in its own way...everyone was freaking out including the cows. Heavy rain is better without wind and hail.
Some nice Showpigs!
Good luck with that Kip.
I'd be saying more than holy -moly!
Great video of your dairy farm operation and your family life You should wear ear muffs when your working with the tractors I didnt and im wearing hearing aids at 55 Take care and all the best from Ireland seamus😎
You was doing good till you broke it but it’s fixable. Always had a Good time at the Fair made many lifelong friends and memories
It takes a lot of inner strength of character not to scream & cuss when things unexpectedly break.
Hate to say you ain't farmin unless something happens. I blew apart discbine with 50 acres on it over the weekend
Hope you have another rake! What did your wheat make? Our wheat made 14 bushels per acre.
I fix this kind of damages every day. Dry soil become bumpy and vibrations broke weldings
Howdy Kip
That happened to me once exact I hit a tree that was not there 5 minutes ago
I notesed several teeth missing on the wheels. Maybe to much ground pressure ,could be a reason for Frame failure.
If wheat is going down mostly because of too much fertilizer or the farmer bought a less good sowing product, he only thought of getting high yield, not a stiff straw keeping it up for the combine.
Question the cows when they went in the rain ALL had their tails hiked really high, I'm assuming they were freaked out? Good video!
Rrrryooog
That is some flat wheat😮. No fun combining that.
Love the vids. How big is that wheat field??
I had my old V rake snap again this year so it’s going to get scrapped and parted out.
I was noticing you managed to make it down the field a hundred and fifty yards before you got er wound down. 😬
None of my business, but have you ever considered slowing down some when pulling a rake that wide?? Just a thought here.
It's impressive that companies are allowed to sell equipment that are undersized....
Did the wheel fall in a hole or something to cause that. What a disaster. Don’t know which is worse the rake breaking or combining the down wheat.
I'm big round wheel rakes are the way to go old for barre3 bar old New Holland rakes you see a lot of leaves flying but you farm on
So the wind is what made the wheat field look rather strange
Hey kip, when you have a monsoon pour down like that, do you bother even trying to scrape out the passageways of the dung, I guess it would just be a massive pool of slop running everywhere, out of where you push it to??
I have never seen that happen before.
Oh man. It never fails. 😢
Had a very similar catastrophic break on our same hay rake. 3 catastrophic failures in 2 years in fact. 1/8" steel tubing doesn't hold up to the physics. $32k H&S to replace it.
That’s bad. There is a lot of pressure on those rakes. I never liked the wheel rake of v rake. I like the whirl rakes. Never fails things break when it’s go time
Well that's because you didn't put no gussets on it after you Repaired it
Was this the same rake you were using in your last video? You had mentioned it was pulling and you thought it was because of the wet ground. Wondering if it was starting to break then. Like you said, thank goodness is was close to home. The fallen wheat, could you cut it and bale it? Do you guys get together and discuss what's needs to get done and who's going to do what on any given day? So, when does Summer get her pony? How did Catherine do in her ballgame?
That's farming you'll have days like that it didn't even make the governor open up on the tractor some new steel a little bit of time be back up and going like it was new
c
Seems pretty fast ground speed to keep much for leaves on the alfalfa@
you can break anything going at that speed, your just knockin 7 bells out of the rake
There is a lot of poorly designed equipement out there that shouldn’t be. Especially wheel takes. That should have a truss frame for as long as the spars are.
With nice cattle u have get kids into 4 -H show some of them rake Houston we have a problem
Big oucher...... If you are going to keep that rake, if it were me I would find a length of square tube that will fit inside the tool bar and weld it solid.
miss farming so bad. haven't figured out my favorite tractor of yours yet cause you seem to have one for each cow...... but ill tell you I hate the heat but can't work right if I can smell the dirt or grass so full cab is out. I don't care for computerized.....2000s are out.....
Now breakdowns...... don't miss those farming, trucking or logging.... but as they say.... cant break nothing dreaming.... sigh
that beam that broke on the rake...... cut the break flush on both sides and rather than fishplate outside..... get a square tubing that fits inside the beam you have that's about 2ft.... and use it as a backer insert to weld to it and the beam.... you can then plug weld a few spots on each side and then grind it all flush to the beam and paint and no ones is the wiser.... unless they watched this. the rod tho.... ya, thats not gonna be easy to hide th fix....
Think about the amount of hay those rakes move in a short amount of time. They get the crap beat out of them. If you use your equipment its going to break eventually.
The famous Kuhn chockolate steel 🤦♂️
as we say here in Wisconsin UFFDA.....
You could have cut away the broken part and continued with only 3/4 of a rake and repaired it later.
Caution around the fair food ....stay healthy Kip.
I like my H&S xrake
I hate wheel rakes never has one not break, switch to rotary 👌
I guess your rake hates when you talk about it your saying how its such a good rake then it snaps on u i guess it didn't like hearing that.
time for new kuhn rake.
Why does kuhn not fix this it has happened on several of them rakes
I wish you would have shown the bale that you hit
Enjoyed this very much! New subscriber
