    Great video, just ordered some Hastings and Jimmy Red to try next year. Looking forward to your Farmer’s Garden video - hope to see more of your trellis set-up and how you plant around it. We’ve always just “stuck” our pole beans with a gum sapling.

    Thanks for this great video Scott, can't wait to see what the old corn crib has in store in the future! Real great crops you've talked about. Hasting's is great for this area, Clemson Spineless Okra is another good variety for the South. Clay County Yellowmeat folks if you haven't had that watermelon get you some, I may be a bit biased but it always beats those store-bought melons. Looking forward to the next videos.

    Man blessed to find this through your website. Looked up heirloom southeast corn and you were about the only one I could find. Little late for this year maybe but I’m still planning on getting me some. Got me some painted mountain in three sisters already third year growing it from saving seed tried to adapt it but I was thinking I need something more for central Al. Using jadam ultra low cost fertilization methods.

    Love the video. I’m literally minutes south of the Mason- Dixon line. Some of the things that we make sure we grow every year are peppers, cucumbers, potatoes, and onions. I tend to have problems with corn due to cross pollination with field corn. Great video with lots of great information. Looking forward to the next video.

    I planted some Hastings real early this year right before last hard frost and I'm harvesting it already in north Florida. It's out of space and time for normal planting season. Thank you this is really good corn.

      @@scottrailey3892 The prayers with planting is crucial. I want to try some summer fall planting...the bugs are harsh that time of year, but my best intuition also based on uf research catching up with ancient ways is the commonly less talked about fourth sister sunflower. She's real important for beneficial insects and pollination. I'm gonna give it a go with the Hastings prolific while I'm on a successful roll of planting it outside of the standard season

    My Grandfather planted Hasting prolific every year. He was and old farmer born in 1899. Always used the farmers almanac to plant by. Hasting was planted on the full moon in early April grew 20 feet tall. Great corn.

    How do you keep black sooty mold out of you corn

    • @scottrailey3892
      @scottrailey3892 Před rokem

      Hey Steve. I believe tight plantings increase mold issues.. go to a wide row width… 42-48 inch and 12 inch’s in the row. That may help.
