I'm 26 (about to be 27) and this is LITERALLY my life narrative right now. I spent my early 20s irresponsible, making mistakes but learning which is ok, but now I'm reaching the stage where I NEED to start moving forward, or else life will begin to make me suffer for it. I can feel my hourglass starting to tick whereas I was in "Peter Pan Mode" of frozen time even just a couple years ago.
The vast majority of those who leave coffee shops are housewives returning home to nag their children.

oh thank God.
Best comment I've read so far
Glad I'm 21 I must be able to be completely retarded
If you're watching this in your 20s, you'll do just fine.
I'm 53...and still an idiot. Christ, most folk are.
Wrong. Depends on precisely how you are an idiot. Some mistakes are permanent.
Stop click baiting, the video was still great though
Well i guess this termination of mental infancy and transition from non defined potentiality into specialization and limitation in order to go trough the process of maturing and later branching out based on mastery and security derived from it, IS WHAT MAKES REAL MEN! And generally speaking, since this is so rare in modern society due to the epidemic of flawed parenthood, a lot of males are non desirable to women because they failed to go trough these stages on the path to real maturity, leaving them ''stuck'' in fantasizing instead of achieving. This causes women to be in higher demand for fully fully developed men who are often referred to as alpha males.Hence, Women desire for real men. It is an accurate title of the video but it is more between the lines i guess.
Women want those types of men, we all know that, but the real question here is: What are these women doing to actually DESERVE to be with these men they want? I could be a textbook alpha male, capable of anything, an excellent breadwinner and all, but I wonder what those "women" bring to the table? A pretty face, a sexy and attractive body, a nice personality, good manners, youth, FEMININITY, those traits are the MINIMUM any women MUST have if they want a "real man" like the JP's description, anything less than that will be ignored or used as booty calls, that's the harsh and cold reality, but many won't accept it. If you are a high value successful man, don't settle for any lesser female, REAL MEN DESERVE REAL WOMEN, not delusional ones.
Exactly! You see? It's not so simple.

The channel owner did change the title but it is still a wrong title. I would suggest him/her to watch the video a couple of times and come up with a better title. You are doing a disservice to Dr. Peterson by reducing his teachings to "men vs. women." He is a professor and teaches both men and women.
Liaquat Ali
Yup, Jordan is brilliant and this video of him - isn't the title of the video.
I strongly agree with your statement.
Popularity my friend he knows he will get views it is up to the viewer to make the judgement after the video. Pros and Cons. I am glad you catch up though.
Cant you f**kin read the title of the channel? Clash Of Title damnnn
What does this video have to do with women's desire for men?
Liaquat Ali Maybe that was the overall conversation. Women generally don’t want overgrown infants..
A Alvarez, even if it was the topic of the overall talk, the video above is more profound than the narrow scope of the title. The understanding of the subject matter could be applied to men as well as women.
Title misleading. Barely touched upon directly.
yeah there are a lot of channels floating around glorifying Dr Peterson and grossly reducing his ideas to little more than pop psychology
I'm almost willing to bet money that he puts click baitey titles on his videos as some kind of psychological experiment or because he knows the effect it will have or something like that. he's too self aware to be doing this purely for views. I hope at least.
A more appropriate title for this video: "Jordan Peterson: How to make oneself valuable, and the increasing irrelevance of a traditional college education".
And that is what women desire in men
i should've read this comment before watching the whole thing...
There are many things that a woman might want from a man, depending on where she is in life: fun, adventure, knowledge, money, children, social connections, kindness, reliability, love, prestige, protection, labor, muscle...
Margaret Palermo
Are you that thick? The fact that women like this in men doesn't make the title relevant.
Then nobody will click on this video.
I'm 30 now and this is exactly what I'm going through... :-/

yep, fast approaching 30--still no idea what im doing. Not in too much debt, so thankful for that. I devoted myself to music for years, but my ambition fell off...slowly at first, but then it got to the point where im competent at playing/arranging and recording music, but there is no joy...still looking for the missing pieces. To quote Barbosa from pirates of the Caribbean "food turned to ash in our mouths"
@@jaymeselliot8181 You have a very useful and very beautiful skill, did you ever love music or was this something you may have pushed toward? If this was something you ever loved you have mearly loss passion "like a couple living a mundane life raising 2 kids with 1 on the way" good news is that passion can easily rekindled. Now if you have never loved music you have like most people spent a great deal of time and possibly money learning a craft. That is not bad, because you do not you have to love something to be good or even great at it, you just have to practice and work hard. If the latter. Sounds like you then my advise is work realy hard at building you carrer in status because we all need money and while you work to be successful try different things until you fins what hooks you. Hope i could help!
I agree that the title is misleading, but still a quality video nonetheless. Dr. Peterson is one of the best minds in the world today. His practical and logical approach to life in general is increasingly rare nowadays. I am glad there are still educators like him teaching young people in our institutions of higher learning today.

title is disconnected from video but very solid advice. very important.
"You can go to University to not be something" is such an apt statement by Peterson; far too many young people these days seem to view Uni' as some halcyon holiday and don't focus on studying nor in doing their best but instead seem to think it's acceptable to literally just get passes - just obtaining an average of 51% or so - to obtain their degree. I have a cousin who was accepted into Uni' as - and solely due to her age, being considered to be - a "nature student". She wouldn't have been accepted based upon her academic results from her senior High School, which was the criteria when I was accepted by my alma mater. Not only that but she studied Nursing yet barely scraped through, and had to repeat a number of assignments and practical(s) i.e. tests. Now she is working as a nurse but I wouldn't want to be one of her 'patients'! It also seems that almost anyone now can enter a University course and unfortunately the value of a degree, and the recognition of - ideally - the hard work out in to obtain a University credential is gone, lost in large part because people obtain entry to courses through Technical Colleges and/or on the basis of "age" (as if that's shouldn't at least be accompanied by some rigorous academic tests too), and because it's been deemed acceptable to scrape through by just barely passing.
Maybe apart from the Unis tightening standards for degrees, employers could start examining University transcripts where the individual's exact marks plus any scholarships (awarded based upon academic merit, not for racial or other matters like sports participation) are listed for all to see. However, how to alter the typical tendency of many younger people today who have a ridiculously overblown sense of entitlement combined with a lack of work ethic?!
I would love to sit down and have a conversation with this great man
That would make 2 idiots.
Google or CZcams his interview with Dr. Oz...it was nearly 3 hours and touched extensive and broad topics.
2:35 I love how Peterson gets emotional while talking about Jung
The channel owner continues to clickbait potential viewers. Please allow me to spell out the core concepts discussed in this video. They are, "Potential, Sacrifice, Maturation."
I genuinely like Dr. Peterson. A real treasure to have him in these times.
Tremendously helpful, wise even.
We should have more educators like this and at a much earlier age.
So proud he’s Canadian.
You would think its easier to knock down the fences than to make men struggle against even greater barriers, yet this is the recipe in the Peterson Papers...
"plumbers save more lives than doctors". truth
How though? xD
So proud to live in a country where college debt is so, SO rare.
"There's a lacking space for people to make the transformation from adolescence into adulthood" that's so true though
Without a doubt this is one of Petersons most important lectures. Depite misleading title.
"Plumbers save more lives than doctors". That pretty much sounds like someone who just realized that they have made a condescending comment towards a certain group of people, and tries to fix it by comparing it to another group of people that such person believes is far more relevant to society. Not only is he condescending them on the first place, but he is reinforcing such belief with that statement about plumbers and doctors. Magnificent lesson from our beloved Jordan Peterson!
Heeyyy plumbers are very important
Plumbers have saved more lives then doctors. The biggest cause of premature death in the third world is poor hygiene and dirty water. Plumbers and plumbing has fixed these problems in the first world. England and Europe were once gripped by plague carried by rats which lived in open sewers...wiped out one third? of English population. Try reading into what he is saying before mocking the analogy and thinking before you open your mouth. Poor hygiene kills thousands of people everyday....dysentery, typhoid and the like...totally preventable by good plumbers😂😂😂
@@kathaira9431
You clearly did not understand my joke, because my point was not that doctors save more lives, but rather that Jordan Peterson was forced to say that because he just made a condescending comment towards plumbers, regardless of whether his second statement ends up being true or false. However, my dear friend, if you want to play the game of who saved more lives, tell me; on what study do you base your assertion? And how do you know Jordan Peterson was referring to such study? Did you ask him yourself?
I have actually done my research on the topic, and the evidence shows that it is not only plumbers or doctors who save lives, but the combination of all those professions, so if you want to assert that plumbers save more lives, you have to give numbers and a causal relationship in which only plumbers themselves saved those lives. I would recommend you step up your reading comprehension skills before you go on to strawman other people's jokes (I did not even make an argument). And believe me, I was not trying to be condescending towards plumbers, but rather mock JP for doing just that. I happen to come from a family that lived out of that profession during many decades, which is why I found JP personally insulting.
Victor Magariño common sense does not require a study to tell you what common sense should tell you. Prevention is better than cure. The biggest difference between life expectancy in the third world and first world is access to hygiene and waste disposal and access to clean water. It is all over the tv everyday...donate to this charity or that charity to provide clean water...$1.43 per day. There is a reason that you are discouraged for taking a dump in the street....it spreads disease. Plumbers fix toilets and drains to keep water clean therefore prevent disease....common sense. How many people do you think would die if raw sewage was left all over our major cities. As for the condescending comment...most plumbers I know are good blokes and would appreciate that their chosen vocation which requires them to spend a vast amount of time up to their elbows in other people’s shit is appreciated by someone who obviously talks sense not shit. Perhaps he could of used a different section of blue collar workers...scaffolders or truckies to illustrate his point but plumbers came to him first...shit happens. In an age where everybody finds a reason to be offended he was bound to offend someone. At least he is educated enough to recognise this.
@@kathaira9431
First of all, common sense is the type of unscientific argument that cannot lead to any reasonable truth. Common sense also tells us that the sun rotates around the earth, and that the moon emits it's own light, and yet this is not the case. You seem to know this, which is why you tried to justify your position with more than just "common sense". To what you stated I have to say that I agree with you completely, but that you cannot attribute all those lives and prevention techniques to just plumbers. Architects, for example, also played an important role in that process you describe. The problem with an individualistic world view is that it does not allow you to analyse the interdependence between different groups, and that is part of what I was making fun of. Either putting doctors or plumbers as the sole saviour of our society is a mistake, and the unconscious slip of the tongue that JP exhibited is enough to make a simple joke using the same psicoanalitic theory that he is an expert at. I did not feel extremely offended or anything, and I understand that we can all make mistakes. But JP became famous by deliberately misrepresenting Canadian law, so I am more sceptical of what he has to say than whar other people who have no record of lying at such a level claim.
He’s brilliant and logical and clear enough that there should be no reason for click bait but I understand why there is. And he knows too. Some people don’t want to consciously expand without some entertainment or pleasure or personal gain even just egotistically. Ego yells and sex sells so I understand click bait.
The title didn't have anything to do with the video. What is going on?
I dont understand why a lot of his videos have a wrong title😒
He defines 'maturity' as deciding what you want to do for a living before you are 30. Well, that's one definition of maturity, I guess. But it's not the only one, there are plenty of others. And it's tough for many people, trying to work out what they WANT to do and what they CAN do. And even if they do that, they may just not get that lucky break into the career of their choice. Peterson was one of the lucky ones - he found what he wanted to do (psychology/academia) and what he was good at, early on. And the opportunity was there for him to start his career. BTW, when he was young, it was a LOT easier to get a teaching position at a university than it is now, when every second person has a PhD, it seems. Many people are not so lucky.
Man, this man is second from Jesus...
Never have I felt so proud to be a plumber 😁 Jordan really is special.
His use of the game engine avatar analogy really made sense. That’s exactly how I plan. Well put
What does this have to do with women's desire for men?
Does anyone know where I can view the full version of this lecture?
4,000 generations and we've come so far - astonishing.
Ive heard before that ability to accurately play out detailed future scenarios is marker of high intelligence, it really makes sense that is what sets us apart, and makes us so dominant.
This guy is a great father for everyone to be proud to have. He puts it straight with tough love. Yes, there ain't wrong with University per se, but there is something wrong with attending University while not learning and thinking that you're still OK just by being there - we go to be educated - if that doesn't happen, either you failed, our you should get a refund.
Where is the source of this original video.
He is spot on, once you hit you're 40s you've got grown children who still need you, you don't need another 40 yr old child pissing you off. He is a very intelligent man
I admire this man. I connect so much right now to what my university has done to me :(
You posted a video with a certain heading, and in neither of the compiled videos, was that topic ever discussed even once.
Jordan for prime minister would be amazing
Dr Peterson is fucking brilliant! I love listening/watching him.
It has a lot to do with looks also, youthful looking people will always be treated more leniently in my country regardless of their actual age, biologically some people do tend to look significantly younger or older than their actual age, of course besides genetics which is the main cause it also has got something to do with lifesyles/sun exposure/stress levels, and diet.
love jordan peterson.. one of the most realist man of todays generation..
Despite the fact that I love listening to Jordan Peterson, this video gets a thumbs down for the F**KING click bait title.
jordan peterson for president

God bless you
This would have to be one of his most important video, esp for introduction to him.
having a degree in a design discipline (i wont say which cos i now hate it) we learned a design process - critical thinking and graphical and verbal presentation. Even after a Masters post grad degree you still just fine tune these skills, which is fine. but there is so much more to being 'a designer' - of course you need training and to gain experience in the work environment of the real world. to be honest wish i had never bothered with university and just went straight into work.
Who knows if I could work for/with Phillipe Starck - I will let you know I worked many years in SE ASIA and UK as an 'Architect' (unregistered) I was very badly paid in SE ASIA and to be honest very badly treated in the architectural profession. It was not great in the UK either thanks to the recession 2008-2011. I quit architecture when i was in Thailand in 2012 after a bad experience there. I will never work in architecture again. So no i doubt I would work as a designer or architect again . Too many bad memories. I have kept busy teaching English in Asia since. Suites me fine - still broke just less stressed. cheers
Glad to hear you have an interest in the design world. There a lots of great designers out there Starck and Barragan, Corb et al all being greats. Personally I like Morphosis - thom mayne LA/USA - Eric owen moss also LA. and japanese such as Shin Takamatsu - my favourite building being Nagasaki ferry terminal built in 1996. along with a few hundred other buildings i could recall, many i have had the good fortune to visit. I have a dream of sdesigning my own house on a tropical beach maybe Thailand or Vietnam - my next port of call. I think i might have to pay for that myself.. so it may be a while before i realise that project.
Dr Jordan Peterson deserves a more respectable and relevant video title
This lecture was amazing and enlightening...but had nothing to do with men and women. It has to do with how people evolve as they grow up...and the internal and external struggles they encounter trying to reach their human potential. This man is one of the most brilliant people in the world today.
Jordan Peterson is a stud.
he certainly is.
If you think he's a stud, you might think I was a 2x12.
A Alvarez I don't know about stud because that reference is related to his potential ability to get women. That particular reference must be done away with by men as women are doing away with their desirability by men.
He does possess clarity of thought.
Actually, he is the dumb person’s smart person.
M KKrupp who's smart person's smart person then?
I would love to take his class
Was that class or ass
The doc wanted to see how many child adults are in here, when you work all day to make a living and try to make the best out of their lives it attracts women. Women want to see men that keep trying and also never give up.Women need the feeling that they are safe with that person and not with a whimp. When women takes the role of the male a man is lost
Wow just wow
This man gives me goosebumps when he speaks
Think, read and write...
Well thats me. Went to pleasure Island and learned more from J.P. than my semesters at college.
Great video. Been working farrr harder lately then ever before in my life and its caused me a sacrifice in terms of seeing my friends as much and even moreso females. But having the drive and focus that I have right now has also raised my standard for females in my life. Literally just had a conversation with a girl I really hit it off with recently about how if we let our personal goals/lives slip to spend extra time together it would be meaningless because we'd fail to build anything real that way.
This video has nothing to do with the title.
Wrong title, but great information on the progress out of adult adolescence into a full adult
I wish he would address the issue of having a learning disability. When he said that having an English degree and learning to speak, think and write would prepare you for any complex job, I've found that to be utterly false in my case.
I can read, write, and think deeply, critically and creatively, but those things are mostly irrelevant at the jobs I've worked at. The most successful people are generally charismatic, extroverted hard worker types who can barely spell but can get shit done.
I have NLD, which has no cure or treatment, and a terrible prognosis (worse suicide rate than schizophrenia), and I'm trying desperately to integrate the wisdom from Jordan's videos into my own life, but I seem to always hit a brick wall no matter what I do. I don't want to reach 40 (I'm 33) and still be grossly incompetent and unable to build skill sets or to set goals and make progress toward them.
I don't want to end up hopeless and suicidal. I just don't know what else to do really except try, and that simply isn't enough when you have a learning disorder. Your best effort is always unacceptable and you basically always fail, repeatedly. It's toxic and it conditions you to expect failure, and I haven't found a way to break free of that when you never get any victories over anything meaningful.
Great lecture but where does he say women desire these traits from men?? CLICKBAIT TITLE! 😱
I wish I discovered this guy when I was 22.
Terribly misleading title. Shame on you. Dr Peterson’s thought and articulation is substantial on this topic and worth showing it for what it is.
Title is completely misleading
I like his idea about our minds being like game engines. I had this idea for a long time now, that we have shifted our evolution away from the physical world more into the abstract one where we develop new ideas and strategies so much faster that the traditional approach of nature can do. Let's see where this takes us in the next 50 years tho...
When Peterson say something is wise, you better know it!
Because you mention sacrifice, something that really helped me while researching Edgar Cayce's authenticity was finding he promoted a concept of setting a one-sentence spiritual ideal or principle to live one's life by. I set mine too high, but now even though it's still considerably higher than a goal, it helps in almost all circumstances. For me, it's a benevolent, one sentence version of why I choose to be in this earth.
The title is wrong, it doesn't match the video.
in my university we are being tought how no to think talk or write , just do what people with money want.
the penalty accrues, and when it hits it just wallops you
damn right in the feels. its too true. time to turn things around
@Tom and Hugo: He seems to be referring to men who lack a career. One might object that the traditional (and outdated) image of the 30something male somehow sleepwalking along a career path only to wake up on his 40th Birthday aghast at having 'suddenly' become middle-aged is also ugly. What is more interesting is how the image reflects Peterson's alignment with Nietzsche as a kind of pseudo-theistic aesthete (if that's the right term) - In the potential absence of ultimate values, new ones must be created, leading to new 'sinners' or "reprobate" to label ugly and otherwise reprehensible. Such a rigid and impersonal value system lacks the subtlety to actually find value in many unique situations. At what cut-off point does an underachieving adult male can no longer be anything but 'a bad thing' that "no-one cares about" (to use Peterson's words about some of his own past clients..)
3:03 Wish we were told this earlier. Most majors are useless at the other end.
Bob Bruce i think people know. When you study and it all the tine easy and boring you stay if you just wanna avoid having to put effort in it. Its a pleasure island that people chose to stay on.

Hi Jordan I feel like an old baby so much and I had a lot of trouble in my worklife. But for me there has been no correlation to "luck with women". On the contrary that has proven to be a field where I have been able to transform. I can see why but well.. it's interesting I think.
I've been a US resident for over 30 years and saw the shift from Men being somewhat recognized as the. Necessary component of a family to being completely dethroned and
marginalized or pushed to the side. I'm from Jamaica and I inform American women going there don't try to bring that mindset there It won't work .Men in America have allowed their personalities to be defined by women SAD
Fascinating that as university Tuition has skyrocketed, there has been a coincidental shift wherein the vast majority of college graduates are women.
Great video but it has absolutely nothing to do with the title.
Dam....i wish I had this video 30 years ago and insight to absorb and practice
"If you can speak, think, and write..." That's a big IF. After 30 years of teaching, I'd say very few students ever aspired to think. They usually prefer to be told what's what. And this is normal. Truth be told, society doesn't want thinkers. They bring change, and change is uncomfortable, especially if it is political. We're all in Idea Boxes, ideologically sealed off from opposing ideas, even when times call for a drastic Rethink, as the times do now, concerning the environment, culture, etc.
You’re so badass Dude! The part when you said that one must find their inner child again once they’re done with apprenticeship! That’s exactly what I’m doing now! Plus I agree with your stands on the whole pronoun movement. Your logic is impeccable. You sir are legendary 🥛

Anyone else have to work while at college? Restaurant jobs, summer jobs and sometimes 2 part time jobs all with a full load of classes. I never thought to criticize the process at the time ( C/O '01). Me and I think it pretty much everyone bought into the idea that the institution of colleges and universities universities was supposed to be difficult. Then add to it, me and people like me, value judging every credit so you put your best effort during your least tired and stressed times toward important classes. Which meant anything outside you major didnt get your full attention. Some classes I took might have benefited me more or opened unforseen doors but I wouldnt know being in survival mode. All that said just to point out I was paying for current life while taking a loan for school. Luckily I avoided the credit card companies getting kids hooked on that whole other giant of a mess. You zpend your 20s thinking how independent you are and looking bAck now I see the predatory forces trapping the young with debt. That movie Fight Club was brilliant. It explained it all.
