Thank you for making this video. It's a definite time saver for myself and others with what seems to be the the catalytic converter that goes on all of these naturally aspirated 3.5/3.7 engines.
Thanks for the great video and explanations, George. I now know that Advantage Ford dealership didn't solve the problem. They didn't successfully diagnose the problem which is a bad sensor, instead they replaced the front cat that went bad because the sensor was bad and left the bad sensor in. Your video explained everything clearly. Thanks again. Henry
No way! Wow your very welcome! Im glad this helped out! Yeah they try to do the "Process of Elimination" first so they can squeeze every penny out of the consumer instead of fixing the problem so you have to come back. Thank you for your SUPPORT!
So I'm removing the nuts from the manifold, but the stud is pulling out with the nut. Is this gonna be an issue, or can I simply just thread the stud back in with the nut?
No, not a dumb question at all. Depending on the code. If its p0420 is going to be bank 1 if it's p0430 is going to be bank 2. Bank 2 is the front one closes to the radiator. Bank 1 is going to be the rear one. Closes to the steering wheel. Hope this helps
You have to get oem cats from the dealership because they will throw a to lean or to rich code and turn the check engine light on. I suggest getting the correct ones from the dealership
Great video thank you. I’m in the middle of replacing my rear exhaust manifold, I removed all the nuts but I am having a hard time removing the nuts for the bracket on the cat. Any recommendations and details on which tool you used and how you removed them would be greatly appreciated.
I used an air impact with an 1/2 extension...multiple extension with a Swivel...it was hard, soak them with wd-40 or PB blaster. Try different angles till you find the correct one. With out an impact you can possibly break the bolt or strip the nut.....these models are horrible. Sorry bro wish i had better news for you
@@559powerscape thank your response. You are definitely right, I stripped all the nuts with the socket so had to put a Irwin grip on it. Hopefully I don’t have to remove the axle shaft to drop the rear cat
@@559powerscape do you know if the studs that go from the bottom of the exhaust manifold that connect to the catalytic converter. Also do you recommend putting any kind of sealant on the manifold gasket and the studs that go into the head and the 4 big studs that connect to the cat. Lol sorry man a lot of questions.
No you dont have to put a sealant thats what the gaskets are for. The studs on the exhaust manifolds shouldn't of came out. But if they did, they go from the bottom so the cats are lined up and insert the nuts to hold then into place. Honestly do what you feel is right. Main thing is you want everything to be sealed correctly so you dont have any exhaust leaks
