  • MDMA, also known as Ecstasy or Molly is the psychedelic that is the closest to getting FDA approval for treatment for PTSD. In this video, I talk about how it will be used.

That stuff is wild! Its surprisingly distinctive in terms of its effects compared to mdma. Mda can make you trip as hard as LSD. Its quite psychedelic. Mdma is far less stimulating and ,believe it or not, is even more of a love drug! Its hard to pick a favorite! Mda is probably better for taking in a club environment (as long as you're modest w/ the dose so the psychedelic aspects dont overwhelm you) because its more stimmy and longer lasting. Mdma is better for chillin w/ the homies and forming deep connections :) if anyone reads this have fun and be safe ❤

With MDMA’s ability to increase feelings of compassion, it makes me wonder how MDMA would impact psychopaths, if at all. Would their lack of empathy make the therapy useless or would we find there’s something else going on there? Hmmm….

I'd say for sociopaths yes. Because they are created from childhood trauma.
Psychopathy is often seen as genetic, if you Google the topic. You'll find people on Quora and Reddit, who are admitted diagnosed Psychopaths, (people with ASPD often do a lot of drugs), who say all MDMA does is increase their energy/euphoria/sexual arousal, and desire to interact with others, (mostly for sex), but they all said it didn't activate the love/empathy it does for 95%+ people.

I think this is a great idea. As a teenager the few times that I did X really changed me in positive ways. Back then, I was so obsessed with heavy metal and dark, depressing music. Using this party drug and going to rave and listening to dance / pop music was groundbreaking for me to like other more positive and lighthearted music and I think those experiences helped me open up to more compassionate way of seeing myself and others. It really opens up those pathways that make you want to connect with others instead of feeling isolated and alone.

I've always had depression and it is always in the background of my mind. Some days more or less but it is always there. The one time that i took MDMA, a friend gave it to me. I didn't take a lot of it but I remember just feeling even, like a lot of mental pressure was just gone. I thought, this is what normal people must feel like all the time. It's such a shame that MDMA doesn't last long - even if you redose after some hours you just get the methamphetamine-related effects but not so much the serotonergic ones. It can take months for it to be effective again. The long-acting SSRI's are okay-ish (though livesaving for me) and 'meh' for many people. I guess our brains are wired to counteract the happy neurochemicals. 🤷 Hope that there comes more research into this - it feels to me like everybody is talking about cancer, which is horrible as well of course, but things like mental health seem like not so interesting targets for pharma companies. Or maybe they do try to work on it, but we just don't have the basic research knowledge yet. Hope you are having a good day today, take care!

Yes interesting stuff these particular fungi. All I will say, is that whilst MDMA might have medical potential.... As someone who took a lot of it illegally as a teenager, it really can fry your brain and contribute heavily to causing weeks, months, or even years of depression. I'm only just getting well, not exaggerating, 20 years on, after going 'mad fer it' from age 14 til about 25.

Thank you for another excellent video. I have complex trauma, and EMDR therapy has failed and often been damaging (even the “safe” protocol). For the reasons you talk about here, I took an (underground) guided MDMA journey a few years ago, although the therapist did not follow the same protocol as MAPS. Of course, MAPS has two therapists, you stay overnight, etc. - which is rather difficult to set up when you’re doing this below the radar.
My dose was not customized by body weight (I’m a lot heavier than I look, my digestion does not absorb things well, and have an redhead metabolism - we need more of some meds than other people). The therapist broke it into two doses, which I should have probably taken all at once. (Apparently she normally administered multiple substances at once, but I requested MDMA only.) I don’t think that it was sufficient to receive a therapeutic experience, and OH BOY, the comedown was so much harder than when I was a young adult. I had to use every tool I’d learned in therapy to cope with the biological crash the next morning, coupled with my disappointment at not experiencing more healing.
It was certainly not the worst therapeutic experience I’ve had - that award goes to EMDR! - but I wouldn’t want to do that again. Psylocybin is a substance I tolerate better. But, if a clinically tested protocol were available to me, I MIGHT try it again. I do think that it ought to work, if the setting and dosage is correct for that person.

I’ve heard wonderful things about this treatment. I will say I’m intrigued however…a bit apprehensive. I know it’s a much lower dose than what people would use to party. Way back when in my 20s I dabbled. Anytime I tried any type of hallucinogenics I always experienced a “crappy” response. Anxiety and wanting it to be over.
The only time I did not experience this was when I ate a tiny amount of mushrooms. I was laughed at by my party peers. But I was affected just enough to feel the effects but not lose control. It was the best time and the last time. I finished college and moved on to a career. I had this principle that once I was a real adult party time is over. I became pregnant and a life long Mom. So even a glass of wine was controversial…only to me! 😆
Now that my youngest is almost 10…I’ve been thinking about that one time. And hearing all these stories of success. I’ve been dealing with extreme depression and PTSD from a traumatic event. My brother was murdered by my father…yes I didn’t grow up in the healthiest household. The murder didn’t happen til recently…the energy of the event has been building for decades.
Moving forward has been really hard to begin with…but all those small chaotic events up to this major one has always thrown a wrench into healing. It didn’t seem to ever end.
All the treatments I have been receiving has been trial and error, really. I’ve spent more time looking for treatments and meds that work more than the time of actual therapeutic healing. It’s been exhaustive.

So sorry to hear about your story. I hope MDMA comes quickly. In a safe environment with a psychologist I suspect it can do amazing things. Hopefully also for you. I never partied so much with MDMA, just used at home with friends to have deep connections, hugs and talks. I think it would be a godsend for therapists when the client is 'stuck' in a trauma and keeps reliving it.

It’s perfectly normal to be apprehensive, even the highly experienced will have some anxiety prior to going in. In some way it indicates respect for the medicine.
As Drake stated sometimes too low of a dose can actually be more difficult, especially w/ psychedelics (which MDMA is not).

Interesting that this video should crop up today. I was just thinking about how close minded I am, in the sense of being able to take in new information, or even wanting to. Not being able to, because of the fear of letting in anything negative too. I've had PTSD-C for most of my life and it has affected my ability to learn so much that I have no prospects. I want to study badly but its an exercise in futility, no matter how much I try, my self defense mechanisms click into place and I can't take anything in.
I'm temping at the moment and working with someone who does Molly frequently and from what I've observed they are incredibly adept at pattern recognition and seem to absorb everything they come into contact with, being able to turn ideas and concepts on their head with very little effort. Maybe they're just intelligent but it's given me pause to consider certain things. Things that this video fall in line with, so thank you for this timely addition to your channel.

Just a small nitpick- MDMA is an empathogen, not a psychedelic. The term psychedelic refers to drugs which act as 5-ht2a receptor agonists, like LSD, mushrooms, DMT, mescaline, etc. MDMA has a very distinct profile of effects compared to psychedelics- it focuses more on the sense of touch in terms of its perceptual effects, rather than focusing on visuals like psychedelics do.

Somewhat related is CBD. Some think it does totally nothing, due to how diluted and weak rip offs many products on the market are. Others treat it like it's literally magical and harmless, like they treat weed in general.
Truth is, potent CBD products show potential for helping with anxiety, PTSD, and perhaps even a good add-on therapy for Psychosis, amongst other issues, but also not totally harmless. It can cause potentially lethal drug-drug interactions at cytochrome P450.
I myself use it a lot, and until I got familiar with dosing it, well, it really is possible to have so much of it it makes you stupid, heavy, and end up in bed just like the real thing.

It sucks you would have to buy any psychedelics illegally. but if you can find a therapist or any therapeutic contacts that would be willing to work with said psychedelics. then you would have to take the risk if you’re that desperate. What sucks is a lot of people who are suffering can’t wait years for this type of treatment to be legalized. so if you’re desperate, some people will be willing to risk certain things.

I went through an emotionally traumatic breakup, and a close friend of mine arranged to have an MDMA experience with some mutual friends. Even without the therapy, I found it to be an astonishingly healing experience. The day or so afterward, I felt so incredibly at peace and just accepting for the first time in probably years.
My biggest concern about the studies concerning psychedelics is that they will legitimize them at the cost of well, cost. Street doses of high quality MDMA were about $50 each when I did it several years ago. In a medical or psychotherapeutic context, it could easily be thousands, if not tens of thousands, and unlikely to be covered by insurance. If the medical establishment (as a whole) had real interest in helping people over profiteering, then they would argue for decriminalization instead of legalizing for strictly controlled medical use.
I like to use as an example the numbers where marijuana is legalized, and opioid use has dropped off sharply. And given the choice of years of antidepressants or antipsychotics, I think I'd rather take some MDMA, magic mushrooms, or some LSD.
