    Love your channel Great video. One thing I am having difficulty with is. Bill size and shape. I make a nice looking bait figure the bill is perfect for the size, BUT not much if any action. Is it the angle at which the bait is being pulled that is the issue? Or do I need more weight in the front? I have decided it also has to be about the buoyancy of the wood, because the cedar carved baits , were not as active as others. Is there anything you can help me with on this? Like the more buoyant a steeper lip? Or more weight or both? Or a different angle in which it’s pulled? I believe the cedar needs more weight right behind lip, and I will try that tomorrow. Was hoping you had some expertise to give. Thank you in Adavanced! Love your channel

    • @EngineeredAngler
      @EngineeredAngler  Před 3 lety +2

      I say this a lot and, although the number of variables that go into a good crankbait design is huge, the best place to start when you have a lure that is not working well is at the tie on eye. I would take the lure and bend the eye away from the lip, test it , then bend it down towards the lip and test again. You will see some improvement is one of those adjustments. Then its a matter of following that improvement with more adjustment or design change.

    Hi from an Italian fan, congratulations on the videos. Do I need a couple of tips:
    1) is there an inexpensive silent compressor for airbrushing?
    2) how did you create the steel wire to keep the lure steady?

    • @EngineeredAngler
      @EngineeredAngler  Před 3 lety +1

      There are small airbrush tankless compressors that are under $80. They all are a little noisy but you can put it in a closet or cabinet. To see how I make the wire twist eyes watch this video:

    Hi there, another excellent video thanks! Can you explain why the tow eye and rear hook eye are below the centre line? Thanks in advance.

    • @EngineeredAngler
      @EngineeredAngler  Před 3 lety +2

      Sure: The tow eye needs to be below so that when you twitch the line it moves the head up on-to the water not into the water. This allows for the walk the dog action. The low tail eye will help with roll stability if it is below the center line. If it is at the center line it will not contribute to stability and if it is above, it will hurt the stability. Hope that helps.
