When you traded two Favor for two Secrets on the Red Exiles turn the reason you got two Secrets is because of the Old Oaks ability and because you had a beast adviser.
By default if you trade Favor for Secrets you get none unless you have a matching adviser.

Really well spoken and organized. I haven't read the rules yet but I did catch earlier in the video that discarding from a region always goes down the the lower region.
I saw at 20:17 Taming Charm was used to discard The Old Oak. I think the Old Oak should have gone to the lower providence (Hinterlands?)
    Keep up the good work!

Thank you for this walkthrough! I got Oath in a trade a few weeks ago, and I've been hesitant to reset the deck. You video gave me the confidence to do so, and even go through the walkthrough! Keep up the quality content! Subbed!

Thanks for this video. I am a huge fan of Root, but still debating on pre-ordering Oath. It is really hard to follow some of the playthrough videos on other channels, so this really helps clarify what can be done in this game by the player. I think I am sold....about to watch your next vid. Thanks again for you hard work!

First, thank you for your kind words! I like the walk through and think there was quite a bit of thought put into it by Cole Wherle and team. Glad you found this one helpful!

I hope to see a full, solo playthrough. The walkthrough is pretty straightforward so I didn't watch this, but I'm a fan of your channel overall.

Thanks Adam! There’s more to come! The walk-through examples are probably a bit better for someone really new to this one. I do like how thorough it is for covering many concepts and actions in this fantastic game!

@@clvrswine if you really want to be specific, it should be hyphenated, which also makes your snarky correction incorrect.

@@DadGotGamez The hyphenation depends on the sentence construction. "A cut-and-dried decision." But: "The decision is cut and dried."

Thanks and I plan to! Working on one as I type. Well not as I type, because that might be quite impossible (at least for me), but you know what I mean :)

Such a great Idea for a video! And so well done!
I have one correction for the Red Players trade action:
Without the adviser, he wouldnt gain any secrets vom the Old Oak. One matching advisor is mandatory to gain at least one, this us the normal rule for trading for secrets. But then the special ability from the Old Oak gets triggered and he gains an additional Secret. You did it right, but the commentary is confusing.
But again, great video, especially your camera work 😉👍

Im really waiting for the solo pltrough, because i need to decide, if provides a good enough solo experience , because there is a slim chance to play it multiplayer, due to lack of gaming group.

In this tutorial are you deciding what actions to take or is this all predetermined in the rulebook?

What do the secret and favor that are placed on a site ever do? They just stay there?

If you were to follow this for three players would you just take out a color? Or play all four for the first round then take one out?

Looking forward to more Oath videos. A nitpick: When Red trades favor for secrets it gets one secret becuse of the matching advisor and one secret as per the special ability of the Old Oak. The way you explain what happens in your voice over makes it sound like you get one secret by default, which is not correct.

Hello pete! I was intrigued with this game, but I'm on the fence to be honest.
Looks like too much, disorganize and weird. What is your personal opinion about this game? Your opinion matters to me.

    • @ModernTablegamer
      @ModernTablegamer  Před 3 lety +1

Hey Bernardo! Alright... So far I really like this one. I think the ebb and flow of power and temporary alliances you have to form to slide into victory give this a dimension that is deeper than just what is on the table. I also like it because it reminds me of a Pax game that married Root :)
