    2:15 According to my 8th grade economic class:
    Link only crashed the diamond market and hoard Rupee to himself, not printing them
    Taking Rupee away from system should makes the Rupees worth more, decreasing price of a lot of things
    But inflation still happens, meaning inflation wasn’t Link’s fault

    • @shadowfox933
      @shadowfox933 Před 9 měsíci +126

      The diamonds should have been worth less over time, but the price stayed constant. This means that some regulatory force kept the price of diamonds high artificially. True, it isn't link's fault, but the massive and sudden decrease in available rupees would still crash the economy (no time for other prices to adjust).
      The other possibility is that everything else goes up while diamonds stay constant. This would mean that there was a ton of money (rupees) "printed" for use in circulation. Still not link's fault, but this is the one that shows how inherently unreliable fiat currency is

    • @Ramschat
      @Ramschat Před 8 měsíci +17

      @@Alex777-ei2qq You missed the point: Link isn't printing money, he's printing diamonds. Which would have a *very* different effect. The price of diamonds would however crash, because of the massive increase in supply. The kindgom might even undergo Dutch disease, if foreign nations start buying these diamonds from Hyrulian traders, therefore making the Rupee more desirable in the international market. This could actually even increase their value! Local industries would however suffer, as any exports besides diamonds just can't keep up.
      Also, while Diamond is a hard material (hard to scratch), it is actually more structurally brittle than steel, so pretty bad for armor/weapons

      @@alexanderelderhorst2107 Nah, that's just how powerful Ganondorf's magic is; Blood Moons make all resources/monsters respawn. Link isn't the only one screwing with physics. I'm pretty sure everyone, not just Link, realized all monster and resource spawns were returning after the Blood Moons when Ganondorf was around. Of course, there would be people exploiting that. They probably have vast hordes of resources stockpiled after his defeat. Unless, whenever a Blood Moon occurred, time would revert (much like in Majoras Mask). So then, if that were the case, everyone would be trapped in a time loop. Which is debunked quickly.
