So motivating seeing this video on my recommended! Got myself a 318is myself some time ago, just got done with a engine rebuild with turbo and some other modifications :) Almost ready to hit the road. So nice sound and lovely car :D so rare to see these IS cars! Also, i've got a question for you! How low is your oil sump to the ground?
That's awesome! Thanks 😀. It's not that low, I haven't had an issue with that. However, as you can see on my latest video, my car is not that much lowered. Any lower than this, then it would be a bit problematic!
Yeah, saw the other video! Mine is also not that much lowered, but it looks to be a little more than yours. But the lowest point of my entire car is the oil sump. Which i'm really not a big fan of, considering the bad roads here in Norway :P
@@johannesthorsen1830 Yeah mine too, that's just how it is with these cars. If you're worried you can buy or make a skid plate, then you should be safe :)
@@johannesthorsen1830 Yes it is, but I have replaced the oil pan for the E30 one, since the E36 one doesn't fit. So everything from the intake down is the same.
@@MNthrT Nope, I have 2 mics, one under the hood next to the air intake, and one just above the exhaust pipe in the back. The interior sound is from an iphone.
Compared to the m10b16 with 75hp, it now feels like a proper car. Before it was just terribly slow but now it feels like this engine is right for this chassis. The power in the upper RPM range is always surprising, but on the lower end (< 4000rpm) it's a bit low on torque. Depends on what you like in an engine. I like it, but a year and a half after the swap I am already considering doing another one 😉
Yeah, the little 4-pots don't have any low-end torque, but they're fun to rev out. As for the swap i'm guessing a 6 cylinder? Wish I had the resources to swap one myself but Australia doesn't have any of the parts. @@OGBemfa
Schmiedmann headers. The rest is a stock exhaust with a cat and a center silencer delete. BUT, I played around with mic positioning and post production to get the sound that I wanted. Irl sounds too raspy.
Nice i had a custom exhaust done but also had to play around w resonators and bigger mufflers to try to cut out that raspiness stock headers tho my exhaust guy was surprised the m42 could be so loud lol@@OGBemfa
@@PabloRamirez-rx9jo Yeah, m42s can sound really good with a proper exhaust! I'm thinking of a Simons center silencer and some universal muffler to get a bit lower-sounding tone.
The engine is essentially stock. The only "engine performance" mod is Schmiedmann headers and no cat. The car also has no AC, or power steering so that frees up a bit of power. The final diff output ratio is also shorter than the original E30 318is since this car has an E36 gearbox + 3.91 diff (top speed is around 185 km/h). Suspension is ST Suspensions springs (40/40 drop) + ST dampers.
What do you guys want to see more of in the next videos? Let me know!
7:06 sees the 60km/h speed limit sign, shifts a gear down and floors it haha what a bro
man wish i lived in a place like you with these roads and landscape.. nice car and video.
Finaly a highway shot, amazing videos man!
Nice driving! Would love to see more of this car.
i love this, your car is almost exactly what i want to turn my 84 318i into!!
pure driving experience
I like that grumpy little engine.
I love it, thank you for upload😎😉
Been a few nice days lately makes me wanna get mine out for a quick drive in these nice winter days we get randomly.
I like this vid, thank you for upload❤
cant wait for my e30 project to finish😭😭
very good video and very nice car you can do preview outside of the car before driving it will be nice
Thank you! I will do that in the next video. Similar to my E46 video, but even better :)
Proper stuff. Subscribed!
Je vais essayer d'acheter une 318is quand j'aurai les moyens.

I also See your engine is from a e36? judging by the intake. but the engine should be about the same otherwise

Bro, I like the angle that you mount the camera. Nice.
Is it shot by GoPro ?
Thank you! No, it’s an iPhone 13 Pro, but I will get a gopro soon for even better videos!
is the mic and sound all from the iphone too ? @@OGBemfa

Hi mate which model of steering wheel?
MOMO Prototipo 350mm
Btw how much faster does it feel with the M42 motor? I like the shorter gear ratios too.
