Everything is getting from bad to worse at an incredibly fast pace and all the government thinks of is how to play games and politics. I for one has been hit very hard and at this point, I am more interested in a solution because I don't even think both are qualified. What is the way forward for the less fortunate ones like me if this goes south? How do we survive this phase? I am slowly losing my mind.

Quite simple: First, vote wisely, Spend only on necessities, Invest in your health. Always invest what you can, but you must ensure you spread your investments (locally and internationally) but of course be well informed about where you want to put your money. At the present Australia's economic growth is ranked 43rd out of 52 OECD countries.
In 2012 last year of labour, Australia was the best performing economy in the OECD.
At present Australia's debt is 65% of its GDP, in 2012 the debt was 28% of the OECD, the best in the OECD back then.
At present we have the one of the worst internet conectipn out of all the OECD countries, thanks to the Liberal party handing over 16 billion dollars tax payers money to their buddy Telstra.
Australian economic growth is now ranked 60 out of the 50 OECD countries. Go figure.
Transparency international has ranked Morrison's government 18th out of the OECD countries, this the worst ranking ever in the Australian political history.
Since 1969 the highest government tax to GDP ratio has been John Howard, Morrison's government is the second highest ever.
    These are facts.

Properly targeted education at low cost or realistic cost is what's needed.A job when I left school as that was permanent, with bright prospects could be landed with average yr 10 marks. Now that same job requires a degree or even post grad even though the said job is easier today due to technological advances but as so many people now have degrees the bar has been lifted to the current ridiculous height we currently have. Hello Australia:)
I am only one person but I wanted to share something from just an everyday American. Trump was a horrible American experience and I am still dumbfounded that he manipulated so many Americans who haven’t a clue of what his kind of politics would usher in.
So much for that bottom dweller.
About China & the Solomon Islands… I realized how truly remarkable Australia is for standing up to China about those islands. With all this business with Russia going on it fogs the mind. But here is my view…
Guadalcanal is sacred ground. America lost thousands there and Australia I believe lost around 23,000 in WW2, and was by America’s side in those Islands. Australia came to the aid of those Islands in the 2000’s to restore peace. Sacred land protected by the blood of Australians and Americans.
That Australia stepped up to remind us, not only from a security perspective, but from a fought for and died for perspective, hit me as noble. I would fight along side of an Australian soldier any day and twice on Tuesday.
That is just my opinion, and I am an old woman now. But I remember. We must all remember outside the fog of the thuggery of dictators today.
I have seen too many wars. My child served and was injured. The price of our freedoms require standing up even when it hurts.
Thank you Australia. This American appreciates you.

tf do you mean, standing up to China over Solomon Islands? The Australian government have been bullying Solomon Islands into being left reliant and thus deferent to them! It's got nothing to do with standing up to China! Solomon Islands wants to enter freely into a security deal with China similarly to how Australia freely joined AUKUS.
This isn't Australia being some sort of good guy, it's Australia being a bully and standing over a smaller neighbour because we don't want to lose power over them that we've held since Federation. It's plain old Australian local imperialism and nothing more. We aren't better than China, we're just smaller.

Scott Morrison said "Australia respects the sovereignty of individual Pacific Island states......" It is Solomon's choice to build a diplomatic relationship with China. You cannot blame China's success because of it is less transparency. A successful diplomacy bases on both parties mutual respects, cooperations, communications and international interests. Although the diplomacy is transparent, a lot of Australian politicians still want to hold up a black veil in front of their faces to view China. Mainland China consistently focuses and trys to complete the peaceful unification with Taiwan, but the Australian politicians are deaf and the media seem to be too old to have the capacity to balance the listening and speaking skills
The biggest problem of the Australian politicians is that they cannot tackle the internal problems, but waste time and energy to blame China. Politicians play political games to divert the internal critical attention. l think they all need to have a self-reflection lesson to have the courage to face their real problems and then to have innovative ideas to move on.
We all know that only arm manufacturers can make great profit in wars, others are looser, but Australia cannot stop fighting for US. So far, from what l can see, Australia does not have an independent foreign policy. It's proactive US follower's role is laid back in the South Pacific region.

Hearing the Greens talk geopolitics made my eyes and ears bleed, and the fact the audience - mostly young liberals - don't know what they are clapping for just makes the irony even sadder. She knows absolutely nothing about Realism in the IR. Solomon Island getting help from China had nothing to do with climate change and cutting foreign aid. China knows the PM of Solomon Island is no better than the leadership of Myanmar i.e.: despotic and easy to grease up. And the irony is that the climate change impacting the world is caused by industrial nations like China and the US, and they have done nothing to reduce the emissions. For example, China building more coal power plants in Southeast Asian countries to export THEIR coals and workforce.
China is using the opportunity to do something like this to embarrass ScoMo and they have been eyeing the Pacific for the last decade because of its strategic location, courtesy of Japanese occupations during WW2 that proven to be an effective bulwark against US' Pacific campaign. China literally surrounded Australia and blocked off naval bases in Guam and Hawaii, reducing the US carrier group response in the event of a Taiwan invasion and isolating Australia militarily. Diplomatically it works well for Beijing as in the UN, there will be fewer countries going against China's agenda of rewriting global IR in its image.
Honestly, all of those claps would turn into placard protests, just as how it was in Hong Kong, Tibet and Mongolia the moment they know what hit them.
