I could of used this the weekend I got my P4. I flew it out about a mile and a half, showing off of course to my brother in law. the battery RTH started yelling at me and I cancelled it. I flew about another 2 minutes and started bringing it back. I really started to panic when I knew it wasn't going to make it. I didn't even think of just landing it safely and go getting it. The last thing I saw was a mowed lawn and then it went black. We all hopped in the car and the search was on. We used the flight path to get the general idea of its location. Searching two particular soy bean fields for hours. By this time, we had 7 people all looking. No luck. We called it a night and I came back the next day, alone. I knew I seen a lawn. And next to this 1 lawn by the soy bean field was a thin patch of trees. I could feel it making a jedi type of connection with me saying "over here". I went into the tree line and stood, looking and looking. I leaned up against a small diameter tree and looked up. sure enough, it was about 15 ft up in the tree. Needless to say, I don't ignore the battery warning anymore.

The pet finder has helped me a couple of times. I was filming a farmer's field and it clipped a high stalk of corn and went down. The finder led me right to it. Otherwise it might've taken me hours.
I'm glad you got yours back. Keep in mind that you can change the battery warning percent to a higher value if that would make you feel more confident. Happy flying!

I just picked up a P4, but have not flown it yet. From what I understand though, if you're using an iPad/iPhone it automatically records the flights on the device, so if it goes down somewhere so should you not have a good idea where to look for it by watching the recorded video?
What I don't know is if it records GPS coordinates. When I fly my regular FPV gear I can record an SD version at the ground station with the gps coordinates overlaid with the OSD, so in the event of a crash etc., one would at least have an idea where to start searching..
Yes, you can set it to CACHE in the Go App. And I do believe it saves all of the telemetry information as well.

+TripMcSleazestack Unfortunately, the controller won't give you pinpoint location. --Especially after a crash or rough landing.
+Ken Heron worked great for me! Way more accurate at a greater distance than the beep toy. And its free! Maybe you could use it to locate an old phantom 1 or 2. Good tip on the range extenders though. Those paired with Litchi give my P4 a big distance boost!

Hey Sam! I'll prob'ly be finished editing over the weekend. (I'm juggling several projects right now.) I was born in Cape Canaveral, Florida... So I kinda have rockets in my blood too!
I have one and every time I went to us it, FLAT BATTERY !! It doesn't work UNDER WATER !! and anything over 50 mts WON'T WORK . i now use my radio RSSI signal strength to point me in the right direction to find my Quads ! I personally was dissapointed with mine. Good luck Cheers Steve

Does the Loc8tor interfere in any way with the drone's frequencies? Does it actually send anything at all when it just sticks on the drone and the remote control ist NOT used?
No. The loc8tor part is a receiver, so it won't mess with the drone at all.
