      Yes! Thank you, we went to dinner a couple times and almost bought an ice cream cake. But at $33 we decided on a couple flavors of ice cream and my wife made a cake, $12.00. Haha win!

    When manufacturers warranty expires their inputs on labor rates should expire also. An hour is spent pulling on/off the lift and test drive.

      Exactly! These times are for brand experienced mechanics on 2-3 year old cars at most.

    Those hub bolts sure were stubborn. If it was a GM product with the yellow Loctite it would have really been a battle. Have you considered one of the right angle air impacts for situations like this? Eric O at South Main uses the Astro right angle with quite a lot of success up in the rust belt. Hope you enjoyed your birthday weekend!

      I’ve looked at them, I see Capri and Astro sell the same or similar one rebranded. Might get one eventually.

    Jimmy! Never been a fan of those Milwaukee ratchet I'm the only one in the shop that has the Snap-on Longneck brushless and I also have the seal head Matco and I got to tell you they are so much better than the Milwaukee. I can't stand Antiquated Milwaukee paddle switches. I understand saving money on impact sockets but the Milwaukee prices are pretty much in line now with the other manufacturer so you're not really saving much

    • @JimmyMakingitwork
      @JimmyMakingitwork  Před rokem +1

      Yeah, not long ago the SO wasn’t as good, but it been improved lately. I think my long 3/8 Milwaukee was $239 because I had a battery and charger already. I just like having one battery type so there is always one charged.
      Not a great tool, could be much better, but it works and has a 5 year warranty. Rethink it once it’s out of warranty though. ;)

    Jimmy, just wondering why don't break out the air tools once in a while. Those cordless tools are for convenience and sometimes not all they're crack up to be.

    • @JimmyMakingitwork
      @JimmyMakingitwork  Před rokem

      I just prefer not having to grab the air hose, once in a while when it’s really needed. Otherwise all electric.

    rust is the new loc-tight on them ford bolts , my 2015 mustang GT has longer bolts then necessary all over the place ,,and I don't know why .

    • @JimmyMakingitwork

      Yeah, they love having 4-6 threads sticking thru to get her rust. :/

    Any advice for an owner of a 2017 fusion like myself ?

    • @JimmyMakingitwork
      @JimmyMakingitwork  Před 5 měsíci

      They are good cars, just keep up with the oil, change it before the manufacturer recommends and if anything like a noise starts, have it looked at. Nothing really unusual to watch for on them. :)

    Another Honda tech here, sadly rear hub bearings on the newer generation Hondas seize really bad. It’s almost like they are welded together. I’ve seen a tech pop a wheel stud out and use a bolt to push against the knuckle to try and push it out, and he cracked the knuckle through the backing plate. I also don’t know if it’s true as to why those spacers are between the caliper bracket and knuckle, at least up north here in Canada after 4 years the spacers are unable to be removed in 1 piece they seize in so badly.

    • @jasonlecreux1175
      @jasonlecreux1175 Před rokem +1

      Mind you, I honestly don’t think manufacturers consider the northern/rust areas of the world. I’ve seen some 5 year old cars be completely rusted away

    • @JimmyMakingitwork
      @JimmyMakingitwork  Před rokem

      Yeah, rust and corrosion are our nemesis for sure! Manufacturers want to make it thru warranty.

    Considering having a shop do this as I dont have the tools to get myself out of the jams you did. What did you charge for this job?

    • @JimmyMakingitwork
      @JimmyMakingitwork  Před měsícem

      It is about 2 hours labor plus parts. So roughly $500 or so all together. It can vary by area though.

  • @1DrunkSocialite
    @1DrunkSocialite Před 6 měsíci +1

    So what it like for the awd fusions? Same procedure?

    • @JimmyMakingitwork
      @JimmyMakingitwork  Před 6 měsíci

      Yes. very similar but there will be an axle to deal with that may make access to the hub retaining bolts a little trickier. Usually extensions and swivel sockets will help with that.
