  • This video is about how you can invest in a cassava farm with Greenhills Cassava Farmstead. I show how you can invest in agriculture in Nigeria.
Lanre Osifeso, CEO/MD of Greenhills Cassava farmstead, has 10,000 hectares/ 24,710 acres ready for investment. You can purchase farmland from the comfort of your home in the diaspora and have Greenhills clear your farmland, manage the day-to-day, plant, and harvest. You can monitor everything going on your farmland from their app.
I visited this massive farm in Olorunsogo, Mowe/Ofada, Ogun State. It was so inspiring to see this project come to life. Seeing is believing for real!

      Hello Iveoma,
I have been following your channel in the last couple of years, and I think your contents have been awesome and very inspiring. Thank you very much for presenting Nigeria in the light of the vast opportunities and challenges in the country.
I feel very obliged to inform you and your subscribers of my recent discovery just last week concerning GREENHILLS CASSAVA FARMSTEAD. The company is a scam. I bought 4 acres in their phase 2, Ihunbo town. The contract was duly negotiated and just before payment, I insisted on carrying out due diligence which was OK by them. I requested for a soft copy of the documents and gave it to my lawyer for scrutiny, in addition I hired a surveyor to go with them for physical inspection and to take the actual coordinate of the estate for verification in the Lands department.
The documents sent me was legally okay by my lawyer. The great shock was discovered at the Ogun state department of Lands and survey by my surveyor. When they ran a check on the Farmland, it was confirmed that the land is COMMITTED and UNDER ACQUISITION by Ogun state government.
Meaning........ it's a government land and it doesn't belong to GREENHILLS CASSAVA FARMSTEAD. Yet GREENHILLS is selling the farmlands to different investors, thereby wilfully defrauding unsuspecting Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora.
Greenhills Cassava Farmstead documents to the farmlands is a legal forgery.
I pulled out of the contract with them, I informed the company and they never wrote back again. The GREENHILLS CASSAVA FARMSTEAD MD called my surveyor and said he didn't know that the land was committed and would investigate.
Greenhills is still very active on their social media pages carrying out marketing activities with the aim of defrauding people, knowing fully well that the scheme is a FRAUD.
Dear Iveoma, they also deceived you, so that they can use you to get your followers in the diaspora. Even though you saw the operations on the ground, during your visit and physical inspection to their farm...... they deceived you. Next time, get a surveyor and don't even trust a coordinate from them and make sure you go to the government land department for proper check.
Guys, PLEASE RUN AWAY FROM GREENHILLS CASSAVA FARMSTEAD FOR YOUR OWN GOOD IF YOU DON'T WANT TO LOSE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY!
      YOU HAVE ALL BE WARNED.

Do your due diligence. Your video has promoted this and you have put your reputation on the line as a trusted source. Before you buy
    1) Get an independent solicitor that specializes in farm land purchase.
    2) Understand the local history of Mowe especially Oba and security
    3) Based on what I heard you are actually investing not buying land so be very careful what you are throwing your money into. The guy said you have no say in what is planted and you also will not be doing the farming.
    4) Ask for which institutional organisation he is registered with to deal with disputes.
    5) Be very very careful. You are better buying produce from him and reselling or processing for 2 to 3 years before venturing into investing in this project
Remember people once you part with your money thats it. Love Yoruba man in UK

Answer from Greenhills, "So for one acre, they would get approximately ₦168,000. However, cassava is a commodity so the price fluctuates, so how much they get is determined by how much cassava is selling for at the time of harvest.
They could get so much more depending on that, we take 30% management fee from the proceeds and 70% goes to the investor. The ₦168,000 is calculated. Using a base case scenario that cassava will sell for ₦20k and 30 tons will be gotten from a hectare. But right now cassava is selling for ₦60k. "
So the charges for managing the land come from harvest proceeds.

So it's a 70:30 Split. So 70% of the proceeds of the land go to the land owner, 30% goes to Greenhills. So out of the 30% is what covers the fees that you outlined above. I should have put this information in the video, apologies.

I think you are looking for more information on the process. This answer is from Greenhills, "So for one acre, they would get approximately ₦168,000.

Great question @ responsibility. I can ask Greenhills. 2nd part of your question, I don’t know if they are going to break down price of cultivation per plot BUT if you want to know how much you will get every 10 months, “This is from Greenhills, "So for one acre, they would get approximately ₦168,000. 1. It's farmland only for farming cassava.
      2. It took us atleast 2.5 hours to get to the farm from Ikeja.
      3. Yes you can buy from America.
      4. The safe factor is for you to find out, every investment requires due diligence from the investor. You determine the risk level you are willing to take on any investment. Your investment is back by Leadway Assurance (big time insurance company) BUT you need to look into what the policy covers too.

I am a bit concerned with the entry cost of this project. At N2.2m entry, how much is the company going to pay to buy back the cassava? How many tons of cassava will be produced per hectare? We hardly get a yield of 1.5 tons per hectare, even though the Zimbabwean farmers in Kwara do get up to 40 tons. Cassava is currently at N100,000 per ton (it has been as low as N5,000 in the GEJ years), and the pricing is very seasonal and subject to wide variations. Even if the company pays N100,000 per ton, it has to take a production of at least 40 tons per hectare for the project to be viable after the 12-months cycle. It would be good to know.

The concept is a very innovative one but needs a little bit of cost saving ideas.
