- Going back 25/22 years , starting with a very windy gloomy day in 1994 we see Coal sector 37213 coming out of the low sun on an engineers train, Regional Railways 150/158s and a filthy HST.
37710 runs around the Fawley - Tavistock Jct tanks .
The usual class 59s can be seen.
1997 sees a late afternoon early evening stop off on a trip back from Eastleigh with the Highlight being Mainline livery 37372 and 37293 bringing in a PW train from Swindon and returning soon afterward , also we see the (once 365 days a week) Hallen Marsh tanks with 60079,also watch the sanders working on 59103 as it struggles to pull away.
The annoying ringing banging at the beginning is the wind hitting the nearby flagpoles..out of my control.
I'm as Bob again - spot on !! 👍- Ian
I've just subscribed. Looks like we videoed in quite a few of the same locations back in the 90s. Great memories
Cheers Jamie
A wonderful look back at Westbury Brian, and able to see the variety of classes back then...Thoroughly enjoyed that....Bob
Cheers Bob, a great place to go and watch freight movements and shunting, I have a few more later clips to publish soon I hope.
That's me at 1.03
08947 seemed to have been renamed. It was Howie in 1994, and Margaret in 1997
08947 was unofficially named Howie on one side and Margaret on the other after a staff romance.
Once a loco has been named, it does seem wrong to rename it, wonder why this happens ?? Itmust be rare, thinking of Class 52's, Deltics, Peaks etc etc 🤔
Great video . Westbury, was, and is still quite interesting . And who doesn’t like mainline freight blue on 37s ?!
Couldn’t agree more...thanks
Also the hst at 4.30 has two prototype mk3s in as they lack window frames and square roof ventilators.
As someone who frequented Westbury alot the flag ringing at the car auctions just faded away after a while as you got used to it. Havent been in a good few years so dont know if they are still there.
