  • This is to show how the self test goes on a working installation.
    It also show how to test the audio cable and what it should sound like when plugged into the audio port.
    The self test is documented on pages 48-52 in the installation instructions:

    Hey just wanted to say I bought you light/Spengler/sound blaster kit and couldn’t be more happy with it!!!! Quick question though if I wanted to add a smoke machine/e cig for vent do I need your relay kit or can what I installed handle it?

    • @ghostlab42
      @ghostlab42  Před 2 lety +3

      Most e-Cig smoke kits need a LOT of power from the battery so I make a vent relay kit to allow you to turn on or off something during the vent sequence. It is a relay that acts like a remote controlled switch: open most of the time and closed (switched on?) during the venting sequence.
      Here is the installation instructions:

    Aha! So when I don’t have the Audio Jack plugged in, my pack powers up. When it’s plugged and I power up the battery, Spengler kills the pack lights. No response.
    If I remove and reinsert the audio Jack, pack lights stay on but are not interactive w wand.
    I plugged the audio Jack into the other input as you did, and I’m getting no thump signal. I tried switching wires. Nothing.
    When I do the jumper test I get no less blink with fort jumper. Only when both are added. Please help.

    • @ghostlab42
      @ghostlab42  Před 2 lety +1

      The audio input is a stereo jack so uses both signals as sound sources. If you do not get the thumping when plugging in the audio jack it means that the control signal is not on either of those signals.
      If the signals were swapped, it would still make thumping sounds.
      Do the wand sounds make it through to the sound board's speaker when the cable is plugged into each of those jacks? This would confirm that the audio is connected properly if it can be heard through both jacks.
      The wand does need to be in the "powered down" switch setting but receiving battery power from something and the Spengler link should pass all tests so we expect that it is at least trying to output pulses.

    So I was able to do all the self tests and added the new parts to the boards and everything sounds great!
    I do have a question on troubleshooting my cyclotron lights. I closed up the wand and I must’ve knocked something lose. Neither they nor the blue graph bars come on.

    ok so I need help. I have done the self-test and it worked just liked the instructions told me, but the problem is I'm not getting any sound from the wand I'm only getting the sound fonts from the soundboard and somehow I'm getting the afterlife start up sound as well. I'm fairly confident I've soldered everything correctly. I haven't ordered the light kit yet, does not having the lights affect everything? it's just I'm struggling, and I really want this to work because it so freakin cool. please help.

    • @ghostlab42
      @ghostlab42  Před 6 měsíci

      The light kit (or lack of light kit) should not affect anything.
      Are you able to initiate the vent sound or song from the wand controls? This would indicate two of the 3 wires are working correctly.
      Is the wand itself still making the sounds?
      See the video starting at 05:30. You should be able to hear the clicking and also any sounds from the wand.
      If you do not hear the sounds from the wand coming through the speaker, it could be:
      1) a bad connection between the spengler link and the sound board (solding at the stereo jack in the wand handle, a bad audio cable or a bad connector on the sound board)
      2) the yellow wires that are attached to the back of the wand's main circuit board are not making a good connection.
      May be easier to continue any debugging via email: doug@ghostlab42.com

    Hey, I’m having problems with my standard Wand kit. Initially powered on but light #2 and the Ear hand no illumination. Then it started to go on and off, restarting sequence. Now it will not turn on at all. Connected via 9v, all is tight and secure. Any thoughts? Thanks!

    • @ghostlab42
      @ghostlab42  Před 2 lety

      The Spirit Wand Lights kit or this Spengler kit?
      If the Spirit Wand Lights, that gets regulated 5V from the powercell or the sound board. If you are using a small 9V ("transistor battery"?), not some larger rechargable battery pack, it may be that the battery cannot supply enough current. Do you have a voltmeter (or DMM)?
      Measuring the 9V and the regulated 5V that goes to the Spirit Wand board could let you know if the voltage regulator is part of the problem.
      The Spirit Wand Lights board also has a test mode that is described on page 5 of the instructions to verify the LEDs are working.

    Is there an installation guide or something that you provide with this when someone purchases the link kit? Also does it have the ability for more than one song?

  • @Raideen66
    @Raideen66 Před 2 lety

    I was able to fix the sound with the 3 part mod. All good.
    The trouble I’m having now is no power to pack lights after I closed the wand. Dang it! What wire should I check? All LEDs check good.

    • @ghostlab42
      @ghostlab42  Před 2 lety

      You can see if the Pack Lights board has power by using the CONFIG trimmer (adjust carefully - it is plastic) to go into test modes that will light up some powercell lights.
      The power and controlboth come from the 10 conductor ribbon cable that goes between the powercell and the sound board.
      Another test: The sound board should request the powercell board to start up if the audio cable is disconnected from the sound board's "Wand input" jack.

    will you ever make an afterlife-style cyclotron led kit for your original ghostlab42 proton pack internals?

    hello I have the Spengler neutro and a set of lights for my proton pack in 3d but I would like to make a direct connection to have the sound on my proton pack thank you if you can help me

    • @ghostlab42
      @ghostlab42  Před měsícem

      For just sound, it is possible to open up the wand and connect a second set of wires to the internal speaker. Then run the wires through to your pack and connect to some audio amplifier that has differential inputs. Single ended input audio amplifiers can also work if they are powered by a battery that is completely electrically separate from the wand which needs to be running on its own battery.

    • @ghostlab42
      @ghostlab42  Před měsícem

      @@cedricmoreau7537 No plans - You would just need to find the wires that are attached to the speaker in the wand. The speaker is removable, so the wires are easily accessible.
