Tomorrow morning we hit the Normandy coast at a place called Point du Hoc. Our mission: disable six 155mm guns the Germans captured from the French. These guns could hit Omaha and Utah beaches, jeopardizing the D-Day landings. The cliffs there are heavily fortified. Sgt. Randall put it another way: "Anyone who even gets close to the cliffs ought to get a medal."
• Current location: Normandy, France; 3 miles west of Omaha Beach
• Date: June 6, 1944
• Mission Objectives:
- Regroup with Sgt. Randall.
- Locate and destroy the 155mm coastal artillery guns.
- Regroup with your squad at the roadblock.
- Secure the bunkers on Pointe Du Hoc.
- Regroup with Sgt. Randall at the rally point.
