Had my 2016 Vrod Muscle for a few months now. Absolutely love it, started out with a sportster and it blows my mind how people could hate on people just because they own a particular type or style of bike. Everyone like different things, just ride what you ride why the hate.

I've had 2, Muscle and currently have the Night. Such an amazing bike, great look, fast and just so damn cool. I constantly get shit about how it's not a Harley. It's not great for long continuous rides due to comfort but I'm not the type of rider that likes comfy bike; I like the grit of what this bike offers. Funny story, my ex would ride with me and you have to hold on as there isn't much seat back there; she's tiny though.... We'd go on rides with groups and other passengers were sitting in massive seats, on their phones, taking a nap, etc. Not my passenger, full Koala Mode. Thank you for the review!

I’ve been riding Vrods for right at 20 year. I’ve had 6 altogether, and currently have 2. A 13F Muscle, and a rare 08D Nightrod. I’ve got lots of favorite Harleys. But none come close to the Vrod.

  • @bolexmadnessbygilbertsolor6953

The VRod was meant to attract new and different riders to the Harley fold with a machine with heavy torque and power. While the machine wasn’t a huge sales success, it wasn’t a failure either. It attracted riders looking for power which the VRod delivered in buckets. Water cooling enabled higher compression, tighter tolerances and greater reliability. Although many HD faithful don’t regard the bike as a “REAL” Harley, it wasn’t meant for them although many came around when they saw the monster horsepower and torque at just a twist of the wrist. If the VRod was a failure HD would have killed it immediately; instead it had a 15 year run and was actually more popular abroad than here in the USA

  • @jorgerodrigogomezflores5711

Riding mostly in the city, I needed something water cooled and relatively close to the ground (I like having both feet firmly on the ground at the stop lights), and that made the V-Rod the only Harley I could consider (the new Sportster S also fits the bill), I know that it isn’t the most comfortable cruiser out there, but it looks great and puts a smile on my face everytime I start it.

I bought my 2004 V-Rod and dood, you know with 120 horse power and 80+ torque I love it! I had a guy at Sturgis call it the 'Hardley-Daividson' - I thought about getting my feelings hurt but no way. Other than that, I have had nothing but good positive comments about my V-Rod. I put some throw-overs on it for storage and light touring but I love getting my V-Rod out on the road and opening it up. The torque alone has probably saved my life more than once. I can get outta nasty traffic situations so fast and I'm a heavy guy. Keep preachin'! I have met a lot of V-Rod owners and no one is ever disappointed when they actually ride one. Most people don't realize that the V-Rod doesn't even start to kick in, until after 3500rpm then it's game time. I was guilty of thinking that there was no way, that a bike with only 1250cc is going to satisfy my needs after I have owned the biggest CC Bikes on the market. I have a custom Motorcycle shop in Chattanooga Tennessee, and have been blessed with the opportunity to be able to ride anything that I choose to ride. After owing a few M109R1 and 2s ,a few Harley Davidson Road Glide Specials, Honda VTX 1800s , and the list goes on and on" the V-Rod just wasn't on my radar until I actually rode one that a customer wanted to trade in for something with less power. Yeah I said less power because he had just gotten out of the hospital, after having open heart surgery. He rode his bike up to my shop from LA , wich means lower Alabama where I am from. He rode several of the bikes that I had in stock, and I jumped on his Night -Rod Special and the rest is history. He rode home on a Yamaha warrior XV 1700, and I kept the night -Rod Special until I got my hands on a V-Rod VRSXE Destroyer with the screaming eagle package. I learned a valuable lesson from that experience wich has helped me ,to stop judging whatever type bike it is until first riding one. Great video thanks for sharing.

Harley guy 27 years and counting. My first Harley was a beat up 73' Iron Head 1,000 cc Sportster in the mid 90's (I'm a Gen X). Boomers on big twin Harleys would make fun of my "girls bike" .....until the light turned green and I smoked their hogs off the line. LOL!
Still ride my 93' Harley Evo Heritage Bike Show Winner, since 97'. Always wanted a second bike in case my Evo broke down. It never has. But, I finally started researching a second bike. I want a muscle crusier that is fast off the line and has a wide rear tire ....stock.
Saw a bike that looked very cool. Shocked to find out it is a Harley Night Rod Special with an aftermarket body kit. It looks like a Batman Harley. LOL!
Found out the V Rod/Night Rod is a Top 10 fastest muscle bike, with 2008 up model Night Rods have the larger engine and a 240 rear tire that can be changed to a 260 without mods.
My second bike will be a Harley Night Rod Special with an aftermarket body kit, mid controls and Z bars. Live to Ride, Ride to Live. LOL!

When I was looking to buy a new bike, I test rode a V-Rod Anniversary. I loved it, but I ended up buying a Triumph Speed Triple. I sill love the V-Rod, aside from the fuel efficiency. I don't understand how the people within a company's fanbase will hate on you for riding a few of the bikes they make. Get made fun of for a sportster, V-Rod, the Street and even a Dyna in some cases. It's like if you are not riding their top of the line bikes that cost more than cars, you aren't riding a proper Harley... It's why I stayed away from Harley riders in general. Just love my Triumph and hang out with the rest of the biker world.

Nice bike. The Harley world is indeed strange. I've owned several bikes from different brands and I used to say I'll never buy a Harley just because of the looney cult mentality that surrounds the brand. I was riding Triumph and Victory for the last few years and then Victory went out of business. So in 2019 I decided to give Harley a try. Bought an Ultra Limited. It's a great bike with superb fit and finish, but far from the best value. It took thousands to bring it up to the performance of my older Victory tourer. By the way, my Vision gets similar reactions as your V-Rod. A LOT of attention. Some from haters but more from folks who think it's an awesome looking bike. Anyway, stay safe and keep riding what you like.

What's the difference the 2 models? Also do the years matter?

    • @stevem4783
      @stevem4783 Před rokem +1

Mostly the same bike overall, but there are differences. The Muscle is much wider up by the airbox and the engine is ever-so-slightly more tuned for torque, whereas the Night Rod Special is thinner and ever-so-slightly tuned for more HP, but honestly, if someone didn't tell you you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference in tuning between the two, it's very miniscule.
The Muscle also has dual pipes, one on each side, the NRS' pipes are throttle side. The seats are different, the Muscle's is more squared and the NRS' is more rounded. Taillights, turn signals, mirrors, handlebars, and gauge clusters are different.
As far as the years, not really. The 2012-up have a little more forgiving rider position (not quite as stretched out,) inverted forks, and slight styling differences.
If you look at the much older V-Rods, before the Muscle and NRS, there's some differences in years. In 08 they all moved to 1250cc, the older ones are 1130cc, but the older models are actually slightly quicker because they ran a 180 rear tire vs the 1250 models running a 240 rear. The 07 model had the 240 rear but the 1130cc still, so it's the "slowest" V-Rod produced. Originally the first V-Rods had a smaller gas tank too, they moved from 3.7 to a 5 gal I think in...07? Don't quote me on that one, I forgot the exact year. They also received a slipper clutch and ABS in 08.
There were a few unique Rods in the mid-2000s that had mid controls, the 06-07 Street Rod and the 07-08 Night Rod. They're usually pretty desirable and hard to find because of it.
