  • Inside Africa's Largest Floating Village! (GANVIE) is a video about me exploring Ganvie which is a lake village in the Benin Republic, Africa, lying in Lake Nokoué, near Cotonou. I take a trip to this village and explore how people here live. With a population of around 45,000 people, it is probably the largest lake village in Africa and is very popular with tourists. I definitely recommend this place if you are looking for things to do in Benin republic. Do like, watch and enjoy.

There are many sites of refuge in Africa where people evaded capture into slavery. Mountainous areas were common places of escape. The Akoko region of South Western Nigeria had many settlements in the surrounding hills as the region was constantly raided by different armies for slaves. The Atakora hills in Ghana also served as refuge from slave raids.

Very informative video. I'm learning so much about Africa that I don't get in the US. The perseverance and creativity of the African people is a testament to despite the circumstances we have the capacity, fortitude to survive.

The way the functions of the boats are divided is funny.
    1. One for me to go and catch the fish
    2. Second for the women to go and sell the fish 🐠 caught
    3. Third for the children to go to school...
