      Overview
      Defamation is a statement that injures a third party's reputation. The tort of defamation includes both libel (written statements) and slander (spoken statements).
      Elements
      To prove prima facie defamation, a plaintiff must show four things: 1) purporting to be fact; 2) publication or communication of that statement to a third person; 3) fault amounting to at least negligence; and 4) damages, or some harm caused to the person or entity who is the subject of the statement.

    He owns around 50 properties and still has to pay all property taxes, utilities not covered by tenant in lease agreements, maintenance and upkeep costs, etc., so how is it right that tenants can mooch and shirk their responsibilities when he can't and isn't getting any assistance (or protection) like they are? The man's going to have to sell some of his properties at a huge loss at this rate with all the accumulative lost income/ rent owed that isn't being paid, 28,000 owed from just 3 properties?!?!? That's insane, I feel for the guy, hope he gets his due.

    • @shgalagalaa
      @shgalagalaa Před 3 lety +10

      @sheparddog117 Providing housing is a part of producing something of value for the economy, the housing exists because landlords invested in the land and either built or maintained the property. The same way small grocery stores sell you products they didn't create themselves.
      Housing is also an investment and investing on loan is also extremely common and is the reason the amount invested in the economy heavily relies on interest rates.
      If the landlord's investment fails because it's a bad investment and has no value. Then it's the landlords fault for being ''irresponsible''. It is quite different when you invest into something and the government flat out denies the income from it though.
      Another way to think about it is to think about it as a business that provides something lets think of it as a supermarket.
      Now the government passes a bill that allows people to legally steal food from the store. The store loses all revenue yet still has to pay for buying of the goods themselves. According to the store owner they should just ''go get a real job and contribute something to society, it is irresponsible to expect for people to pay for the goods you provide''.
      Your entire argument relies on legalizing theft and breaking of agreements. If that is your stance I would kindly ask you to educate yourself on law and economics.

    • @shgalagalaa
      @shgalagalaa Před 2 lety +5

      @sheparddog117 Yes if a landlord breaks their agreement you are more than within your rights to sue them and withhold rent.
      The agreement is that you pay rent and get to live in the apartment that is maintained for you. If you stop paying rent you get evicted. Im glad you finally came around.
      Merchants sell something that has value. So I suppose you give more value to a coffe machine than sleeping indoors. You might be alone on that one.
      Also should hotels be free? Afterall they provide the same service as landlords but at astronomical prices, same with airbnb.
      Also I moved to study at 19 in an apartment that I am paying for myself through the money I saved working through high-school and investing my savings instead of wasting it like most teens.
      Also the house existing without a landlord is simply false. Why do you think the house was built? Was it built because someone decided it would be a good investment to build a house and then sell it to someone? Who are the people that are willing to buy these houses and as such make building one profitable? Oh right, the LANDLORD.
      Go get an economics degree instead of embarrassing yourself any further

      The City and the State would be absolutely stymied if every single landlord suddenly teamed up in solidarity and absolutely refused to pay mortgages, Taxes, Utilities, landscaping and upkeep like appliances and plumbing repair that keep the rentals still live able for tenants…

      If banks were foreclosing on rental properties to turn a profit, we would see a glut of bank-owned properties for sale on the market. But we don't. So, unless you have evidence this is happening, it doesn't seem credible to make that claim, does it?
