- A multi-part series of my build, table saw and router table workbench combination, built out of aluminum extrusion and colored MDF. Built it to be mobile to fit in different spaces within the workshop. Built to combine 2 power tools into one table. Fence system shares the same aluminum T-tracks, multiple ways to secure accessories onto the tabletop firmly.
I also made a tablesaw outfeed table in 2 separate videos to compliment this setup, which also features multiple drawers within the outfeed table. Please head on to watch those videos after watching this.

Awesome job! I wish my own kids be like your daughter ❤
The way the router lift fits in is perfect, good job on the accuracy!
Thanks there Iskons, for the observation of the video!
NICE!
Thank you! Cheers!
This just proves my argument to my wife, you can NEVER have too many clamps!
Yes but where to keep them is the problem 😉
8:41 - Tee nuts!
yep!
do you have instruction on how to build this? i am looking at doing something similar but in 1.5" square extrusion
thealuminumcarpenter.com is our website, but for this particular model, I did not draw up the design, because different brands of saws have different dimensions, but many other designs are up on the website.
Thanks for the vid, great work, very helpful. Can you link to where you purchased parts, particularly the caster wheels. Thanks
such casters are available probably in banggood or aliexpress. I see such casters on some other youtube videos.
I’m glad I found your channel, its the workbench inspiration Ive been searching for! I’ll design something over the next few weeks using misusing 30x30 channel. Two questions though - how have you found the channel nuts holding tight under vibration? I imagine spring washers might be sensible here. Also have you found a good solution for using the channel extrusion for clamping parts and sliding fences? Similar to the typical t channel that you’ve got on top. I was looking at a CNC nylon worktop with hole dogs pitched into it, but I feel like the channel sections could make this largely redundant.
the nuts do hold till today. spring washers can do the trick too. the channels were good too. you should try the cnc type and let me know how it work out !
😮😮
I have to wonder if this is going to just vibrate itself apart. Doesn't look like any locking nuts or lock washers are used.
As of now, after months of multiple use, no rattling. Cos i used flange nuts. Its meant to prevent those you said…
Where do you get your extrusions from and do you have a parts list and plans available?
Hi there, i supply these extrusions and joinery and fasteners locally. Plans, i do not have readily available. But if there is something u need to build, let me know, i see what i can help. Just email me directly. U can find my email address in my profile.
How about closing up the open spaces?
Soon, in PART 3, doors & drawers and throat plate.
Nice where did you buy the aluminum frame?
Im the local seller, especially custom made aluminum designs.
Where you got that gorgeous cutting mat from?
You may get that from anywhere 🤪 just get a size large enough for your liking!
Just curious are you in Singapore? I was hoping to get some advice on buying my aluminum
Yes. SG
@@TheAluminumCarpenter Thank you for the quick reply.
No prob. Contact us through our website.
Would you have the plans available for sale?
Im sorry i didnt make the plans. If u watch carefully, u just might make it.
Hello,
Do you have plans ?
Sorry i do not have plans.
Excuse,Do you have the length, width and height of this table as a reference?
Are you intending to build one?
yes
What do you use for wheels?
I used the same wheels or casters for all my tables. U can find these readily on banggood / amazon / aliexpress
@@TheAluminumCarpenter can you give model or part number instead of company names?
Which parts are u looking at?
@@TheAluminumCarpenter Looking at the triangle brackets you screw the wheels into?
It seems that the profiles are oversized, which makes the bench unnecessarily too heavy and also too expensive. You have used boards that strongly help to make the bench robust, stable and strong so I think that the profile could definitely be in a smaller dimension!
But I must at the same time say that I actually do not know which dimension would fit best? :-)
Maybe 3 cm x 6 cm or 4 cm x 4 cm should be enough ?!
Otherwise you have done a nice and qualitative job!
Congratulations!
Would be interesting to see someone else who makes some similar table/bench with smaller profiles so we can get an idea about how stable and strong it would be . . .
I value your opinion, the tables were/are used for building things even larger than the table, the videos are actually being edited right now, you will soon see the stuffs built 😄👍
If you ever think of doing a router sled
I would only ask to consider an electric hand planer instead
Not sure why people use a router when a planer gives better results
There could be a reason I am not aware of
I also believe an electric hand planer might actually be faster?
That would be an interesting comparison
What made you think of a router sled while watching the table saw build? And also, do u need to do these tasks on a daily basis?
@@TheAluminumCarpenter
Because you built a really nice table saw/router table.
Better than most I have seen
And I have been researching Aluminum Extrude framing and someone made a router sled with it.
But it has been really bugging me how terrible the finish is with a router sled. But maybe there is a reason I have no idea as to why a router was used over an electric Hand planer.
And with how meticulous you where with your construction
I figured you would also be meticulous with an EHP sled.
Plus I figured you might also appreciate how much nicer the finish could be over a router
I have never done a router sled before, although i watched a few on youtube in my life. Mainly is because i do not need to process wood that way. Our workshop now possess the ability to CNC and that is even better. Yes, your idea is amazing, electric hand planer, but the ability to square it up is extremely challenging. Automation is probably a better choice in this technology world. But of course, other that that, what will you prefer to see me build next? I do have amazing projects lined up already, and one amazing video should be out tmr, i am on a laserbeam focused rush right now on the edits. Let me know 😀
Do you mind post out where did you buy these aluminum?
Hi there… im a local seller. Therefore, mine are from direct factory.
@@TheAluminumCarpenter Do you have a website? If you are in mainland China, I'd like to buy some materials from you. I assume these should be much cheaper than 80/20, right? Also need to know these aluminum model numbers. Thank you.
Which country are u from?
@@TheAluminumCarpenter US
Website, is currently under construction, its not ready. It needs some more time. 你也是华人对吗,你不能通过网站从中国买吗?
Can you please share the material cost for the build?
Everything u seen on the whole build has already exceeded SGD$2000. I do not keep records for this build. Just estimation.
@@TheAluminumCarpenter Do you have a parts list? I wouldn’t mind paying for the sketch up files or a part list
