  • Guhyasamaja Tantra is hailed as “the King of All Tantras”
in Buddhist canons. Like any tantra systems, Guhyasamaja
Tantra assures the swift attainment of liberation and
enlightenment. It especially emphasizes the means of
attaining the Truth Body or Dharmakaya of the Buddha by
generating the ‘exemplary’ and the ‘real’ Clear Light and
of attaining the Form Body or Rupakaya by cultivating
the ‘impure’ and the ‘pure’ Illusory Body.
This tantra is followed by all major schools of Tibetan
    Buddhism.
This audio recording contains a recitation of Guhyasamaja
Root Tantra, which forms the foundational text for the entire
body of teachings, literature, rituals, practice, and meditation
    dedicated to Buddha Guhyasamaja.
As the world continues to endure difficult times with so many losing their lives to the COVID-19 pandemic, and on the urging of many members of our Tibetan Buddhist community particularly those practising within the Gelugpa tradition, our kind resident teacher Geshe Lama Konchok has seen it fit to upload this recording of the Guhyasamaja Root Tantra (Chi: 密集金刚 Tib: གསང་བ་འདུས་པ་ Sangwa Dupa). This recording was done in Singapore some time ago, and recited by Ngarampa Geshes from Geshe la’s alumnus, Gyudmed Tantric College (Venerable Geshe Tsering Thundung and Venerable Geshe Dawa Nurbu Sherpa).
The importance of this Tantric ritual lies in its unparalleled potence in assisting the transference of the consciousness of deceased persons to higher places of rebirth. Guhyasamaja is also one of the most important tantras in the Tibetan Buddhist canon, particularly in the Gelugpa tradition, and is often referred to as the “king of all Tantras”. It is also one of the tantric practices that is known to lead practitioners to achieve Buddhahood within a single lifetime.
With deaths in unprecedented numbers in so many countries, Geshe la hopes that the availability of this Recording on CZcams will allow relatives and friends of deceased people of the Buddhist faith to benefit by playing this Recording to their departed loved ones, particularly where the prospect of being unable to find members of the ordained community to perform last rites has become very real in the recent past. Please therefore feel free to share this Recording, which benefits not only the consciousness of deceased persons, but also those of us still living in this world, journeying in Samsara.
May the merits of this recitation and the power of these prayers bring an end to the pandemic, and indeed to the suffering of all sentient beings.
