dreamcatcher is a 7 member genre mashing group that uses a lot of rock/metal instrumentation and hence all their songs are pretty distinct. odd eye is the final part of their dystopia series which criticizes social media. odd eye specifically addresses all the lies and falsehoods that exists online. with this in mind you can probably piece together all the symbolism and imagery in the mv. scream is the first part and boca is the second part.
You are not far from the song meaning. For context, officially, odd eyes is about the beauty shown and seen by one eye and the other eye is the beauty within (something to that effect based on interview with one of the member when asked about it). One of the popular theory or interpretation is that it is a social commentary about the media, and users of social media, portray the perfect life with the latter putting up fake personas online where everything is perfect and beautiful (i.e. imagery of siting behind a mask, lyrics such as beautiful scenery, live it up, perfect mirage etc.). As the final part of a trilogy called the Dystopia series which their earlier MVs ("Scream" and "Boca") deals with social media online hate comments, perhaps the need for such fake persona is to defend against the haters online or to reinforce their self worth. Also, the song points out that despite the beautiful front, deep down, , it is a lie and such people could be full of sorrow or suffering to keep up with such a facade to seek the necessary attention. Similarly, the need to seek such attention also attracts hater who will still hate you regardless of what you do or having more success than them. They are addressing the issue of online hate and bullying. Based on fan theories, in this song they are essentially saying that online people have different personas compared to their real life (see Yoohyeon holding the phone to her face at 2:55 giving her the Odd Eye effect) and the Utopia they thought they found online turned out to be an illusion. Dreamcatchers Storyline is VERY complicated like Storylines from BTS, TXT, Enhypen etc. Their Story has been going on since debut, so you won't be able to figure it out, if you don't watch the mv's in order, lol. Dreamcatcher is known for having one of the best choreos when it comes to GGs and many ppl refer to their music as "Anime-Intro-like" since their title tracks are pretty rock inspired and their mv's always aesthetically pleasing. Omg yasss finally!! I've been waiting for my fav reaction channel to react to my fav girl group!! Yeah they've been on journey of finding their utopia where people wont say bad words anymore and live happily (as in Scream, they potrayed how people are affected by bullying and bad words, Boca they tried to purify the tainted world of bad words and here in Odd eye they realised that they can't achieve their goal) but eventually they want us to know that the utopia may not be the reality we are facing, but we can still seek for the utopia within us using one eye to face the reality and the other to see the utopia from within (hence the title odd eye). Fun fact: I read somewhere that they use the reference of the movie matrix here when the space bun girl (yoohyeon) drank the red water. In matrix, "red pill" refers to a choice of willingness to learn a potentially unsettling or life-changing truth and "blue pill" remaining in contented ignorance. Therefore, taking the red water means they are exposed to the hopeless reality that they are in where there is no utopia and in one of their concept photo, there are blue IV drips and liquids. The entire Dystopia series (Scream, Boca, Odd Eye) are all about cyberbullying and internet hatred. Odd Eye is the conclusion of the hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil vibe they were going for, where they realize that Utopia doesn't exist. Just like Ateez, Dreamcatcher has full on storylines, but DC's are broken up into two series so far: Nightmare and Dystopia. The Nightmare series (bonus points if you two can pick out all of the horror movie references in it) was their debut and leans heavily on rock and J-rock influences. The Dystopia series has them experimenting more with various sounds and genres while still keeping that core of rock. They also have a collab song with King's Raid called Deja Vu that's unconnected (I think) to either Nightmare or Dystopia. (And yes as others mentioned, they have some elements of girl crush, but Dreamcatcher isn't here to intimidate you - they're here to terrify you. They deal in gothic horror and dark fantasy.) However, the people at Happyface Ent knew they had serious talent on their hands and instead of flushing Minx out and trying again, they decided to re-debut them on Jan 13th, 2017 (the date when they knocked me flat and I haven't bothered to crawl out of the Insomnia hole) - they added 2 members (Handong & Gahyeon), changed the sound to rock (it's what everyone else *wasn't* doing), change the concept to dark and horror, and let them loose on the world. It worked. Dreamcatcher has a massive (compared to domestic) following, two world tours done, they're about to do their third/fourth online concert (they're doing a 2 day concert, broken up into Utopia (acoustic) and Dystopia (rock) with a live band) and are charting their own path now. This is the third, and final title track for the "Dystopia" series. The series deals with hate speech and cyber-bullying. Part one is "Scream" and how hate speech makes them want to scream (hear no evil). This is my favorite girl group. These girls are sooo unique. At this point, I truly believe I'm fans of the producers more than the groups hahahaa because Dreamcatcher producers are the same Ateez producers! Jajajaja. DC story line is amazing and beautiful, and sometimes they are intertwined with Ateez's theories or maybe that's why inSomtiny like to believe. Hahaja

Dreamcatcher are very unique. They are the dark angels of Kpop and the only girl group who incorporate Rock and Metal in their music, fusing that with Kpop into something that basically is a new genre. They also are drenched in horror and social criticism, which again is special. Plus, they are massively talented, all of them. And while the girls look like they could rip your spine out when they are on stage, off stage they are adorable crackheads. Odd Eye is part 3 of the Dystopia trilogy, which is about cyber-bullying, hateful comments and people losing themselves in the (fake) online world. People can get lost in the world of the Internet and social media and their online personas can take over their life. Dreamcatcher want us to use our odd eye to see through the lies (on Facebook and others) and don't be fooled by the "lies masked in sweetness". Great reaction! Definitely check out the rest of the dystopia series - Scream and then Boca. Odd eye is the finale. The have a whole other storyline too previously, based on nightmares and a spider's curse which starts with Chase Me (their debut) although Fly High is technically a prequel to that.

yaaaay I'm late to this video but I love them so much omg I'm so happy y'all are reacting to them. as an atiny I always notice so many similarities in the song writing, some choreo (hand motions) and even costuming. they have a red outfit they performed this song in and it's legit the same exact patterns as a yellow outfit ensemble ateez wore on a recent fireworks I'm the one performance. also the shared producers are also songwriters for both groups and I've read they've shared stylists but I havent been able to confirm. dreamcatcher is a 7 member genre mashing group that uses a lot of rock/metal instrumentation and hence all their songs are pretty distinct. odd eye is the final part of their dystopia series which criticizes social media. odd eye specifically addresses all the lies and falsehoods that exists online. with this in mind you can probably piece together all the symbolism and imagery in the mv. scream is the first part and boca is the second part.
You are not far from the song meaning. For context, officially, odd eyes is about the beauty shown and seen by one eye and the other eye is the beauty within (something to that effect based on interview with one of the member when asked about it). One of the popular theory or interpretation is that it is a social commentary about the media, and users of social media, portray the perfect life with the latter putting up fake personas online where everything is perfect and beautiful (i.e. imagery of siting behind a mask, lyrics such as beautiful scenery, live it up, perfect mirage etc.). As the final part of a trilogy called the Dystopia series which their earlier MVs ("Scream" and "Boca") deals with social media online hate comments, perhaps the need for such fake persona is to defend against the haters online or to reinforce their self worth. Also, the song points out that despite the beautiful front, deep down, , it is a lie and such people could be full of sorrow or suffering to keep up with such a facade to seek the necessary attention. Similarly, the need to seek such attention also attracts hater who will still hate you regardless of what you do or having more success than them. Hence, based on the same interview, the member did said that utopia can only be found from the beauty within, and not what is seen and shown outside etc.

Welcome to the world of Dreamcatcher! I think you’ll like it here. A little background for this song. Dreamcatcher videos always have storylines and this is part of their Dystopia Trilogy. They are addressing the issue of online hate and bullying. Based on fan theories, in this song they are essentially saying that online people have different personas compared to their real life (see Yoohyeon holding the phone to her face at 2:55 giving her the Odd Eye effect) and the Utopia they thought they found online turned out to be an illusion. Dreamcatchers Storyline is VERY complicated like Storylines from BTS, TXT, Enhypen etc. Their Story has been going on since debut, so you won't be able to figure it out, if you don't watch the mv's in order, lol.
Dreamcatcher is known for having one of the best choreos when it comes to GGs and many ppl refer to their music as "Anime-Intro-like" since their title tracks are pretty rock inspired and their mv's always aesthetically pleasing.
Dreamcatcher is really underrated which is sad, cause they're sooo talented in everything they do and their discography is top tier, but many ppl ignore them, cause they're so different from other GGs :(

Omg yasss finally!! I've been waiting for my fav reaction channel to react to my fav girl group!! Yeah they've been on journey of finding their utopia where people wont say bad words anymore and live happily (as in Scream, they potrayed how people are affected by bullying and bad words, Boca they tried to purify the tainted world of bad words and here in Odd eye they realised that they can't achieve their goal) but eventually they want us to know that the utopia may not be the reality we are facing, but we can still seek for the utopia within us using one eye to face the reality and the other to see the utopia from within (hence the title odd eye).
Fun fact: I read somewhere that they use the reference of the movie matrix here when the space bun girl (yoohyeon) drank the red water. In matrix, "red pill" refers to a choice of willingness to learn a potentially unsettling or life-changing truth and "blue pill" remaining in contented ignorance. Therefore, taking the red water means they are exposed to the hopeless reality that they are in where there is no utopia and in one of their concept photo, there are blue IV drips and liquids.

The entire Dystopia series (Scream, Boca, Odd Eye) are all about cyberbullying and internet hatred. Odd Eye is the conclusion of the hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil vibe they were going for, where they realize that Utopia doesn't exist. Just like Ateez, Dreamcatcher has full on storylines, but DC's are broken up into two series so far: Nightmare and Dystopia. The Nightmare series (bonus points if you two can pick out all of the horror movie references in it) was their debut and leans heavily on rock and J-rock influences. The Dystopia series has them experimenting more with various sounds and genres while still keeping that core of rock. They also have a collab song with King's Raid called Deja Vu that's unconnected (I think) to either Nightmare or Dystopia.
(And yes as others mentioned, they have some elements of girl crush, but Dreamcatcher isn't here to intimidate you - they're here to terrify you. They deal in gothic horror and dark fantasy.)

Okay time for the goodies:
They weren't always Dreamcatcher. 5/7 (Jiu, Sua, Siyeon, Yoohyeon, Dami) were in a group called Minx, debuting in 2014. Very innocent/cute concept, pop sounding music. But just like a lot of groups (when going up against serious competition like Twice, Gfriend, Mamamoo, Lovelyz, Red Velvet...) they couldn't get any traction going or stick out. However, the people at Happyface Ent knew they had serious talent on their hands and instead of flushing Minx out and trying again, they decided to re-debut them on Jan 13th, 2017 (the date when they knocked me flat and I haven't bothered to crawl out of the Insomnia hole) - they added 2 members (Handong & Gahyeon), changed the sound to rock (it's what everyone else *wasn't* doing), change the concept to dark and horror, and let them loose on the world.
It worked. Dreamcatcher has a massive (compared to domestic) following, two world tours done, they're about to do their third/fourth online concert (they're doing a 2 day concert, broken up into Utopia (acoustic) and Dystopia (rock) with a live band) and are charting their own path now.
They're also all massive dorks. Check out insomnicsy's channel for her epic 'This is___' series for their personalities. KraayJay's 40 min long guide is one of the best put together (though a bit out of date) and has a lot of music spoilers for title tracks as well as B-sides. This is the third, and final title track for the "Dystopia" series. The series deals with hate speech and cyber-bullying. Part one is "Scream" and how hate speech makes them want to scream (hear no evil). Part two is "Boca", which is 'mouth' in Spanish, dealing with how they're going to shut the haters mouths in defense of those who are targeted my the haters (speak no evil). Part three is "Odd Eye", and how their search for Utopia is all a facade and by opening ones "Odd" eye do you see the reality of it all (see no evil). The visuals of three MVs also deal with with time - ("Scream" - the past; "Boca" - the present, "Odd Eye" - the dystopian future). The members:

This is my favorite girl group. These girls are sooo unique. At this point, I truly believe I'm fans of the producers more than the groups hahahaa because Dreamcatcher producers are the same Ateez producers! Jajajaja.
DC story line is amazing and beautiful, and sometimes they are intertwined with Ateez's theories or maybe that's why inSomtiny like to believe. Hahaja
There are subtitles if you're interested in what they're singing. Some of their MVs even have subtitles with the names of who's singing what (like Scream for instance)!
Dreamcatcher are very unique. They are the dark angels of Kpop and the only girl group who incorporate Rock and Metal in their music, fusing that with Kpop into something that basically is a new genre. They also are drenched in horror and social criticism, which again is special. Plus, they are massively talented, all of them. And while the girls look like they could rip your spine out when they are on stage, off stage they are adorable crackheads.
Odd Eye is part 3 of the Dystopia trilogy, which is about cyber-bullying, hateful comments and people losing themselves in the (fake) online world. People can get lost in the world of the Internet and social media and their online personas can take over their life. Dreamcatcher want us to use our odd eye to see through the lies (on Facebook and others) and don't be fooled by the "lies masked in sweetness". I can only recommend you to keep reacting to them, they are always interesting and entertaining! And the song is a banger!

Great reaction! Definitely check out the rest of the dystopia series - Scream and then Boca. Odd eye is the finale. The have a whole other storyline too previously, based on nightmares and a spider's curse which starts with Chase Me (their debut) although Fly High is technically a prequel to that.

yaaaay I'm late to this video but I love them so much omg I'm so happy y'all are reacting to them. as an atiny I always notice so many similarities in the song writing, some choreo (hand motions) and even costuming. they have a red outfit they performed this song in and it's legit the same exact patterns as a yellow outfit ensemble ateez wore on a recent fireworks I'm the one performance. also the shared producers are also songwriters for both groups and I've read they've shared stylists but I havent been able to confirm. But if you know what to look for there's a lot of things linking their songs etc., These girls and ATEEZ imo are the gems of this generation and I think will become the faces of the new wave of kpop going forward, and I'm a 2nd gen stan so admitting that means I love them lol
