  • A few of my Instagram followers suggested I make a video talking about how I got started in hypnosis and what that initial process of learning hypnosis as a beginner was like for me. This was my first ever attempt at filming/editing a vlog so please go easy on me critics. 🙃
    This ended up being WAY longer than I planned so if you watched the whole thing then you da real MVP. If not then you probably didn't take the time to read this description either so who am I kidding lol but either way I will be posting more street hypnosis videos soon so be on the lookout for those!

    Not too long of a video. I’m glad you took the time to describe the struggle as well as the success.
    It’s good to know all GOOD performers didn’t just suddenly appear/did so without challenges!
    You’ve made the idea of “not succeeding immediately” much more palatable and normal.
    Today, too much emphasis is on succeeding and not enough emphasis is on the importance of failing along the way.
    It’s how we humans learn and should not “fear” failing.
    Quote by me, Karen Robart:
    “To not allow ourself to fail... is equivalent to not allowing ourselves to really succeed”
    I’m going to give Hypnosis a shot thanx to you ...you’ve inspired me!

    You definitely deserve it man! You have a great setup, creative approach, and are really good with the eye fixation induction you use for street with. Anthony inspires me to do street and stage work too. Currently I am doing clinical work only, and its because I'm too scared to put myself out there to make it happen. I know my exact sequence to run, I'm even dressed for the part. I need to just put myself out there and try, and this great message reminded me of that. I have also seen Reveen (the father) live years ago and a few other stage hypnotists in action but didn't accept their suggestions (well, that I can remember, LOL) I think that you are just as entertaining as the best of them and have a more current style that is appealing. I'm impressed and entertained. I also love that you include positive suggestions for change and explain hypnotism instead of further mystifying it. Very cool! Great stuff. You are really a life-coach and a business guru xd.
    Really loving you and you deserved all of this, you built your skill and you did what 99.99% of people interested in hypnosis don't do... Actually perform and grind what they learn on STAGES and with random peoole.
    That's the Reason to your fast results. Going outside of the comfort SO MUCH that people won't even in a lifetime
    It helped that you already have gone out of your comfortzone being a magician so it was a longer process really of grind, study, MINDSET, and actually going past fear and FAILURE.
    You also turned into a sales man doing cold calls (ofc free stage) 😂
    Being obsessed, change environment and people you hang out with, study and implement for years.
    If you fail 10 times there is no way WITH STUDY and WITH A MENTOR that at the 100th you haven't improved with POSITIVE results (if you analyzed the mistakes through the 100s)
    Btw thanks for sharing this story.
    Hey Zach I bet that you used hypnosis to get out of your comfortzone and your fears... to change your beliefs and limitations so that you could step out and do stages in front of 60+ people etc... and so fail and learn until you understand your mistakes and get positive results
    Visualization changed my life as a business owner. Getting past the fear of selling... How? Isolation, controlling environment to focus and remove toxic people, STUDY, MENTOR and VISUALIZING myself going past fears and winning them over and over...
    Until my subconscious forced myself to not be so scared anymore and actually do the sales, do the calls, do the outreach and so allowing me to fail.
    And by failing and studying my failures and from mentors I got good at it after the 100th... The 1000th.... The 2000th... Time.
    It all starts with one guys...
    And if you are scared/you are not doing the actions...
    To do that 1 stage or that 1 sale or that 1 training or that 1 call you need to change your self-view and beliefs through visualization WITH EMOTIONS, repetition and affirmations (affirmations just to make you visualize experiences and emotions brain can't distinguish).
    Hypnosis also is a way to do it ;)

    It sounds like we made the same mistakes. Mistakes are important if we learn from them. The BIGGEST advice for a new hypnotist, as you could probably agree now with, is to NEVER tell someone you would like to "Try" something, and that you are "Learning" hypnosis. That creates a tiny bit of doubt in the person, and sometimes that's all that is needed to make it fail. This is why we don't start on friends and family, because they know we don't have a lot of practice. The first time I told someone I was a professional hypnotist (lie) I hypnotized them with ease. Confidence, even if you have to fake it, is important. You have to remember that the subject being hypnotized doesn't know the lingo, or when you are doing it wrong. There is always a way to fix a mistake, or retry a failed subject. Sometimes they just have to see how easy it can be for others to be hypnotized, and then they drop like rocks.

    • @ZachPincince
      @ZachPincince  Pƙed 5 lety +1

      Yes confidence is crucial, although I've found it really doesn't matter too much what you tell people to start as long as you are confident doing the actual hypnosis.
      I've actually experimented with intentionally telling people that I'm "trying" or "new at" hypnosis and yet when I do the hypnosis I do it so confidently that it works just as well as when I tell someone I am a professional.
      Actions speak louder than words so it's honestly not very important what you say to start just make sure you are extremely confident in what you are doing and you'll be just fine. :)

      @@ZachPincince Our path is similar. I started around 2007 from a mentalism angle, which was after my card magic obsession. haha Back then there wasn't a lot of media about hypnosis even on youtube. I got DVDs from John Cerbone, Sean Michael Andrews, Tom Silver, and Justin Tranz. I trained with Geoff Ronning in Vegas for a weekend, and then booked my first show. It wasn't until I did a training with Sean Michael Andrews, that I felt I was really versed in the rapid/instant ways. Just when I thought I didn't need to buy another product, I got Manchurian Approach and Trilby Connection by Jacquin. No formal trainings are needed, and no expensive DVD sets or online training courses. I just tell people to get Trilby if they are coming from no background in magic, or Manchurian if they are magicians that want to up their game. I do think training is important if you go the therapy route, but for demonstration and entertainment, one can become a hypnotist for under $100.

    • @ZachPincince
      @ZachPincince  Pƙed 5 lety

      The fastest (and cheapest) way to become a hypnotist is to do hypnosis as much as possible. Trainings and DVDs will speed up your learning curve for sure, but there is no better teacher than experience. :)

      @336025abC Pƙed 5 lety

      Fake confidence isnt all that important either.. in my experiences talking with people on street doing imprompt hypnosis... most important elements are a willingness to try something new/fun/exciting and follow really simple instructions. if they cant do those two things with you in first 5 minutes... your wasting your time- move on.

Through watching your videos I listen to your explanations and what you say and do to hypnotize people. So my first attempt was my girlfriend which at first I thought was a total fail because she said she lied to make me feel better but then I ask what did work or almost worked and it was pretty much everything I did like the word hypnosis being funny forgetting name the stuff you do. She thinks its weird that i can do that so she doesn't like me hypnotizing her. So I want to extend to other friends

    I enjoy your videos. My first roommate in college used to hypnotize me all the time and I usually enjoyed it. At first it was things like my hands stuck together or stuck to a wall. He did things like making me rigid and put my head and feet on chairs so I was suspended between them. He always said I was his most receptive subject, but that may have been because we did it pretty much every day. We did something that was a variation of your invisible man. He did it so I could see his clothes walking around but couldn't see him. I thought I could even read the label inside his shirt. By then I was used to being hypnotized and wasn't too freaked out by it. I think I had the most fun with that. One morning he turned it around so I couldn't see myself. Just my clothes. He laughed himself crazy as I walked naked in front of the mirror looking for myself but not seeing anything.

    • @thomthomas5439
      @thomthomas5439 Pƙed 6 lety

      I was lucky top get him as a roommate. A few times I remember being frustrated being under hypnosis because I couldn't do something. With time I became very comfortable with him as my roommate. I became calmer and my grades improved. I felt like I became a better person because he hypnotized me several times a day almost every day. I had this good feeling when I was hypnotized like he was in control and I couldn't be blamed for anything. Part of that was because he wouldn't let me do bad things and only good things. I got to like the feeling of control. There was this very strong feeling of trust between us. When I visited him this summer I was out within 5 seconds of seeing him. I was surprised at that since I hadn't seen him for 6 months. Do you have people you hypnotize frequently and how do they feel about it. Do they look forward to the experience the way I do? Have you ever tried to test limits of hypnosis?

    • @ZachPincince
      @ZachPincince  Pƙed 6 lety +1

      I don't really hypnotize the same person consistently - it is usually different people at different shows all the time. But people can develop an affinity towards hypnosis just like they can towards anything else, you just don't see or hear about it much because hypnosis isn't something that too many people actually get to experience. And I am constantly testing the limits of hypnosis all the time - that limit has yet to be reached! 🙂

      Ben Thong , that is how you hypnotize your mind and convincing yourself of that, I studied for few days and started to act like I know, I was giving inductions (small steps I had learnt) to the ppl I know. it was not happening, but I didn’t lose anything, yet learnt through that. Now after three years of reading and giving inductions, I still consider myself to be at the first steps.
      I learnt so much through my own experience, I was telling ppl (now you will start feeling this and that!!!) then I learnt that’s wrong, and now instead of that I say (do this and that) I give commands and that makes it happen.
      Just do it man, I blv you can

    Hey Zach. I've got a little experience Hypnotizing people. I've hypnotized several of my friends and family and a few of my colleagues. I don't know if I want to do this professionally, but it is a hobby for me at the moment. I just wanted some adadvice on instant inductions. I can't seem to get those right. I've been doing the Dave Elman Induction and it works well that way, but the handshake Induction just doesn't seem to work very well for me. Still working on it though. Anyway, any advice you have would be excellent.

    • @leemonroe3491
      @leemonroe3491 Pƙed 4 lety +2

      @@blinks3458 No. Eventually you'll come out of hypnosis on your own if the Hypnotist isn't there to continue guiding you. So if I hypnotized you and just left, you'll come out of it in about 10-15 mins(it varies) and just be feeling really relaxed. Some people have been known to just go right to actual sleep after a while. But no. You can't get stuck hypnotized.

    Hi there! I am an aspiring magician and know a small handful of tricks and have always thought about trying to learn hypnosis myself! I just have no idea where to start since there's soo many different paths that I can take in terms of beginning my learning. So I was just wondering what you'd reccommend for begginers.

    • @ZachPincince
      @ZachPincince  Pƙed 6 lety

      I would definitely recommend checking out the two books I mentioned in the video (I linked to them in the description as well) because they will give you a great foundational knowledge basis for getting started. My biggest piece of advice for a beginner though is to not let inexperience hold you back from getting out there and actually doing it - experience is the best teacher so intentionally put yourself into situations where you are forced to practice. And remember that failure is not a bad thing - to avoid failure is to avoid many valuable lessons that you won't get anywhere else. Best of luck! 🙂

    Firstly, thank you so much for this video, I've been looking for something like this for ages, and its great to hear a genuine story, one question, do you think you could ever make a video about some of the things you did wrong when you were starting out, how to avoid minefields and all that stuff so you can get people off the ground quicker? If not just maybe reply with something that might help, I've just started studying hypnosis and had my first couple of attempts a few days ago (success varied from not successful at all to about 2 seconds of "oh hey look hes actually under" before he smiled and came out). Also haven't invested any money in it yet because money is a little tight atm, although might get those books you were talking about, don't think we have any CD players xD. Thanks for the help!

    Does hypnosis work if I have an accent?

    • @ZachPincince
      @ZachPincince  Pƙed 6 lety +3

      There are ways in which hypnosis could be done non-verbally so technically you could even do hypnosis without saying a word. Obviously verbal communication does help the process quite a bit though, so as long as the person you are working with is able to comprehend your accent enough where they can still understand what you saying to them then it makes no difference. 🙂
