Five Foods You Shouldn't Eat

  • In this video I wanted to talk about foods I try to keep out of my diet. I want to stress the word, "moderation" to you guys, though. As long as you are consistent with your healthy lifestyle, it is okay to eat whatever you want from time to time. When you abuse the privileges of eating foods in moderation, it could complicate your everyday lifestyle without you even knowing it. I am not telling you to banish these foods out of your diet completely, but because they don't provide any health benefits, it makes sense to scale back.
    Five Foods You Shouldn't Eat
    3 words for you guys: Mind. Over. Matter.
    1. PROCESSED MEATS
    (FILLED WITH SODIUM + NITRATE/NITRITES)
    -I usually avoid all casings of mystery meat.
    -I don't eat red meat, but for those that do, moderation is best.
    -As for poultry; you know you always grabbed the Ranch dressing at your Grandma's on Thanksgiving to dip that turkey in. Why? Because it's bland and unprocessed. That's how you know it's healthy. That is the type of meat I would probably eat.
    -The quality of the source is the underlying factor of healthy dieting.
    2. ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS
    (I TRULY BELIEVE ALL FOODS CONTAINING ARTIFICIAL SUBSTITUTES TO SUGAR CANE AREN'T GOOD FOR OUR HEALTH)
    -Refined sugars too.
    -Coconut Sugars, Blackstrap Molasses, Manuka Honey are replacements for those that need sweeteners daily, but all sugar in moderation is best.
    3. WHITE FLOURED GRAINS
    (ANY WHITE BREADS, RICES, PASTAS
    -Poses no health benefits when you compare it to whole grain sources of flour.
    -If you are trying to lose weight, a diet with white floured foods can hamper the process.
    -Some white floured foods have a high sugar content.
    4. CANDY
    (GMO'S OUT THE ASS. PICK AND CHOOSE YOUR BATTLES WISELY)
    -Nothing else really to say here, candy is bad. We all know it. But we still eat it, because we love refined sugar. This was the hardest thing for me to cut out of my diet but from time to time should be okay for someone who lives an active lifestyle.
    5. FRIED FOOD
    (FRYING FOOD IN CERTAIN OILS AT HIGH TEMPERATURES CAN COMPROMISE THE FOOD AND POTENTIALLY KILL OFF ALL THE NUTRIENTS THAT FOOD CAN OFFER)
    -Frying food in certain oils at high temperatures compromises the food and all benefits the food can offer.
    -Asparagine is an amino acid that is found in many vegetables, with higher concentrations in some varieties of potatoes.
    -When frying, oils skyrocket to high temperatures that are unhealthy. When this happens in the presence of certain sugars, asparagine (an amino acid which is a building block of protein) can form acrylamide.
    -Regardless of what method you use to cook your food, make sure you don't OVERHEAT or OVERCOOK your food to the point where you kill off all nutrients and compromise the benefits.

      I've been to Japan who has the most fittest AND strongest rice consumers I've ever seen! I think its easy for him to stop eating because he's a vegan, and asian foods always pairs rice with a meat and veggie dish. I say do eat white rice, but cut down the portions.

    A couple of corrections 1. White rice doesn't have any flour in it. 2. White rice is actually better than brown rice because it contains less heavy metals. You can actually soak white rice overnight and get rid of almost all of the heavy metals. You cannot do this with brown rice, it holds onto them more in the "brown" husk. 3. Carbs give you energy and white rice is a great carb. There is nothing wrong with eating carbs or white rice, potatoes, etc. White bread, flour have been bleached/highly processed, so those are more understandable to eat less. Just buy a high quality white rice (some are actually made from plastic) so always check what you buy and do research.

    • @febberz
      @febberz Před 6 lety

      The nutrtional benefits of brown rice are measly, too; even though brown rice has a fairly significant amount more vitamins/minerals, because of how we have to digest it, what we actually end up with is barely anything more. If anything, white is better if you suffer with indigestion problems.

      ***** In most cases (unless you're diabetic) eating fruit is fine. And even with all the sugar, trust me fruit is a WAY BETTER option than resorting to chips, icecream, cakes, cookies, & other processed garbage. The fiber in fruit helps and nature knows best so your body definitely breaks it down differently. Also, the flavonoids, vitamin c, anthocyanin compounds in fruits are good for anti-cancer, and are actually very very good in keeping your brain in TIP TOP shape.

      Alcohol is a known carcinogenic too. If you look at WHO FAQs it outlines how much you can have, without it being detrimental, if you are going to have it. How often you have something bad determines its effects.

      @FarsirisCassidy Před 8 lety +6

      +juliaxbabee increasing the risk of cancer does not mean it causes cancer ... too many other factors are included in the process and too many different types of cancer. no, you don't have to cut out anything. vast majority of food contain cancerogenous substances, even fruits, vegetables, herbs, spices, etc. but the body is capable of dealing with them in most cases ... your own body produces cancer cells because it is necessary for your body. the whole hysterical "omg it causes cancer, don't go anywhere near it" is really ridiculous ... but yeah, lack of education leads to panic and hysteria ...

    • @juliaxbabee
      @juliaxbabee Před 8 lety

      if eating a sausage patty each day is going to increase my risk of getting cancer by 18% then no im not going to go into hysterics but yes im going to actively try and eat much less of it than I used it. Fruit isn't on the WHO's list of known carcinogens so as I understand what you're saying, obviously bacon is going to be worse than an apple so there isn't anything wrong with trying to cut back on these foods when an international health organization says that eating them increases your risk for getting cancer.

Honestly though, I think the real problem here is processed food and the extreme lack of exercise. Doing sit-ups while watching this. Everything about this is so true. The trick is reprogramming yourself and learning to appreciate new healthier things. If you need to, transition and your own pace, as long as you make the long-term adjustment. Accept that you will miss and crave what you used to eat. but your body and brain will learn to accept these changes if you hang in there because the body will recognize that it's better for you. Plus, you'd be amazed at how easily you can modify and DIY a lot of the things you miss. Thanks for this.

A few years ago I cut out sugar (only had natural sugar) and one day I had a soda and it made me feel so sick with an awful headache for the rest of the day! And imagine the people out there who drink soda multiple times a day...I don't think people realize the damage of certain things until they cut it out and reintroduce it to see how it affects them. Anyway, great video, love the clips in between! lol.

All my life I have been putting off living a healthier lifestyle, my excuses were 'I'm too busy with work and studies to cook' or 'I'm too tired to workout'.. +finessence808 there are some healthier protein shakes/meal replacements. my nutritionist recommended Garden of Life on vitacost. also, Brenda from leansecrets on youtube (shes great too!) has mentioned Jay Robb protein, also on Vitacost. curious to see what Brett's opinion on this is though!

      +finessence808 Find those that use organic stevia and maybe small amounts of fructose. Isagenix protein/meal replacement shakes are amazing and use stevia and fructose to sweeten them. They used to contain more sugar (by way of fructose), but the newer shakes contain far less.
      Try to find shakes made from undenatured whey protein, as well.

      +staceychellz Got u stacey. U should be pumped tho- I was a chocolate fiend too - but I'm about 10 years out from really changing my diet for the better from when I was younger getting into nutrition, training, fitness etc. - and for the last 10 years, whenever I was craving something chocolatey I usually go for any type of cacao or dark chocolate source! It works just as good! And since people are becoming more health conscious wit their diets, there is more out there to choose from that really can benefit your health and satisfy your sweet tooth at the same time!

There are some awesome cacao powders you can combine with coconut oil and dates that'll satisfy that sweet tooth, but are healthy at the same time. I also make 'Cacao date caramel bars'. There are a ton of recipes online and on youtube. I make a big batch and have it for the week.

She has diabetes type 2 and after my mom had a heart attack it really came to a point where I need to change the food she's eating (And myself as well) if I want her to be getting any better, which is difficult because I'm just 16 and I can't cook lol. Rice is far from a wonderful carb source...coming from a person who seeks turnups on a daily basis, white rice always leaves me feeling drained and i can never get a good energy later in the day after eating it, organic brown rice is good, but if you want really healthy carbs, eat organic fruits with whole grain breads.

    OMG I love this! I live in Norway and Norwegians eat a looooot of open-faced sandwiches. Their bread is amazing, full of grains and nuts, but oh my god do they eat so much margarine. One of my friends prefers margarine instead of butter because it's 'heart healthy,' as in 'made from healthy oils.' I try to explain to her that natural saturated fat is so much better than a tub of chemicals but I don't know. I'm not getting through to her. I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks so. Great video!
