Payday came and his check was minus that money advanced. Still screams at me 40 years later.. That was his 1st wife and been through 3 other women. And my little sis and him conspired and since took my mom who has dementia (on a good day) and made them beneficiaries on her accounts. While I have one other brother is just a town drunk .. My mom has me in the will as the executor but when the time comes and NO MONEY them two can handle it.. I have more money that all 3 of them put together. In addition to the sister definitely being fired for her behavior elsewhere, she would also likely be prosecuted for misappropriation of funds; her stealing from the company...and end up serving time in jail or prison depending on the severity of the situation. Furthermore, she probably wouldn't behave as badly elsewhere but feels she's got daddy wrapped around her finger and thus pushes the limits with him at the family business; she doesn't think he'll ever get firm with her and tell her to shape up or ship out....I hope he does because he's not doing her any favors by allowing her to get away with this type of behavior, and apparently she's been getting away with it her whole life; and it's neither right nor fair to expect the son to endure all of this any further, now or when he takes full control of the business. His father is going to have to decide to take some critical action and do what's best for the longevity of the company if wants to see his legacy endure.

As a lawyer i have seen nothing but hardship, drama, stress, criminal behavior, and embezzlement within family businesses. So much so that i dont think anyone should have strictly family/friend businesses. Its a terrible idea. Jealousy and competition is the only thing that comes from it. Some things the brother needs to know: Is he just going to run it or is he going to own it 100%? How is his compensation going to be determined when he runs it, if he's not the owner? If he's not going to own it outright, how is the ownership going to be passed upon dad's death? Is the daughter going to get 50%? Or does dad have some cash he intends to give the daughter and give the son 100%? Does he, the son, willing to build this business knowing he might not own it 100%? Can dad ask his daughter to resign and not create a family war?

Moreover, you are making a lot of hypotheticals here and excusing bad behavior. We can only go by what the brother said. He could be 100% honest or false but we don't know that for certainty.

Dad is the owner, if dad agrees to it, it is NOT stealing.
I'm not spinning anything, I'm making the full legal claim that the brother's opinion isn't fact. So to assume it is, is a fallacy. When you are going to make claims of wrong-doing, you have to be right. When there is a question about if your knowledge may be lacking, it's not spinning.
What is spinning is taking facts and putting a story to it without facts. Brother says sister is using the credit card for personal purchases. So what, that doesn't make it stealing. This is a PRIVATELY owned business with ONE owner. The money belongs to that ONE owner. That ONE owner is DAD. DAD is the only one that can claim the daughter is stealing, not her brother. Is that clear enough for you? And if dad is ok with his daughter spending the money, then it is NOT stealing.

It is not normal or even reasonable to pay private stuff from a company credit card. She is getting a wage - so why is she doing it. If her father wants her to have more money he can raise her wage or gift her money out of his private funds.
And the accountants have to book that non-business expenditure as an equivalent of wage or a gift to her anyway. If she needs an advance on her wage - that could be handled correctly. I guess it was something that could be also a biz expenditure (so no nail treatments, but a computer or phone) ... but why is she allowed to take such liberties. She likely did not aks her father for permission - and he should not tolerate it. One reason (aside from fairness and morale) is the IRS.

@@ringchaser4488 I bet at the beginning the way was paved for them. I've seen this many times in family owned business. The offspring is put into the sales department and breaks all records (of course, all sales not assigned to anyone, and all repeat customers that dad had gets passed to the offspring). So now they offspring is promoted to a manage a new department. There's a little restructuring and wouldn't you know it, boom, new revenue record or profitability record is established. Again, all things controllable by dad. I saw this a lot in car dealerships. Same story with Zig Ziglar's kids and spouses of kids.
And of course, no manager is going to hate the owner's kid. No one is going to alienate their future boss, unless they intend to quit.
Give a free venue, get people there to listen to you, then push your teenager out there to speak for 5 or 10 minutes, people are polite and listen. Do this over a few years and then you have an adult that is advertising how many thousands of people have attended their lectures. Yeah, it's game. If you, the consumer, get lucky and might actually hear one or two that are actually very good. But always remember, the kid didn't have to earn their stripes the same as other employees. Make sure they are not just quoting their dad, insure they understand what they are saying.
I have an older brother that is a medical doctor. He would hear someone speak and tell me how great the guy was. I would remind him that we had that conversation two years prior and he told me how wrong I was. Or, he would be talking about some new concept and I would point out it's decades old and give him the book that first identified it. Just because someone changes the name doesn't mean it's new. Never could get him to recognize that his little brother with no medical degree was pretty smart, even though I retired 20 years before he did. I didn't have a $300,000 plus student loan to pay off.
I use to tell people to do the exact same method for paying off debt. And I always heard that same line "but the interest rate on the other is higher". As a student of human behavior, I recognized the need for some quick successes to keep one focused. It never dawned on me you could make a fortune selling that concept. Dave definitely has helped and is helping thousands of people improve the quality of their life.
I would like to see him recommend a few other books, such as, "The Richest Man in Babylon" by George S Clason would help with people that find themselves debt free and family wanting to "borrow" money. Another book I found very enlightening is "Unlimited Wealth: The Theory and Practice of Economic Alchemy" by Paul Zane Pilzer.

Dave said he doesn't do yelling and screaming around there? That's not what I hear.
So he just pull out a gun?

No this has nothing to do with how "other" women are because all the other female employees don't do it in the company of this caller. And they also don't do it in the company where the sister of the caller worked before. That is what got her fired most likely.

She behaves like a person with a personality disorder / mental illness / addiction. Or she is just a spoiled brat. Father or parents must have spoiled her, or HE would check her, no need for the son to even call in. I know a lot of family businesses where that would NOT be tolerated. Now the CEO might yell around (Dave does the same in HIS company) but the children that do not even have very special skills do not get to misbehave, take liberties and undermine the team spirit.
The son has to call in - because the boss = the father tolerates her bad behavior (coming late, yelling and on top she takes liberties with the credit card using it for private expenditures. She can ask her father for a higher wage, she can ask him to borrow her money privately. It is also very inappropriate from an ACCOUNTING standpoint.
If these are articles that COULD pass for biz expenditures - it is fraud. Will not be detected if she does not do it more often. But WHY ? And if she does it more often it is an equivalent to a wage (or a bonus) and has to be treated like that.
And if not - the company commits fraud.

    Get a few videos..
Sit down with dad to review videos...
    Then review videos with sister...
Explain this is not acceptable from any employee... no matter who...

Rachel is well liked as Ramsey personality (and she is the only one that occasionaly dares to contradict Dave - at least a bit !) So she is an asset to the biz. And I am sure that DR would not accept it if the children would not pull their weight. Likely they would not have made these careers in another company (or not as fast), but on the other hand I am sure they do a good enough job.

I was an unexperienced stock trader and i lost over $30K when everything started to tank. Not because I was in an exchange that went belly up. I was just stupid to hold and because that's what everyone said. I'm still responsible. It just taught me to be a better investor now that I understand more of what could go wrong. It took me over two years of being in the market, I'm really grateful I find one source to recover my money, at least $5k profits weekly. Thanks so much Mrs Belinda Owens

Bad advice. Give her a raise so she doesn't have a reason to steal from the company. 👍
