  • DAF Mx11 bpv faults this week. With amber engine warning and exhaust system malfunction , I needed to get to the bottom of these faults with various BPV issues such as p1052,p101e,p1024,p1025,p1026, u1579 and p1496 it's safe to say it will need a new BPV, so In this video we remove and replace the BPV after diagnosis.

    I worked on Dafs for years at a dealer, and tbh really rated them as a truck, this was PR and XE, then the E6 models came along, holy crap! company I worked for recently got rid of 50 mx11 trucks, the workshop was the quietest I had seen it in many years.

      Hey thanks for the comment 👍😎 seee I prefer a mx-11 or mx-13 e6 and my-17 to any euro-5 engine. I just find the diagnostics rather backwards 🤷

    • @CreRay
      @CreRay Před 9 měsíci

      It's not really a fair comparison, with all manufacturers the Euro 5 engines were much simpeler than the Euro 6 ones. In fact I'd say that Daf did comparatively well with their earlier 2013-2016 Euro 6 trucks. The 2017-2021 ones are not as good I'd say.

    I looked at one of these the other day. Non active fault code for BPV not reaching position. Looks worn on spindle like that one. Vehicle requesting a regen, cant even get it anywhere near due to exhaust temperatures being so low, like 140⁰c. No leaks on exhaust anywhere. Hoping to see the BPV flap not fully closing when it gets removed! 🤞 Over 3k in parts!
    Great insight these videos mate! 👍

      If youre lucky your Finger fits into the hole where the nox sensor is seated. Put the clamp arround the turbo, lift the bpv in there, hold it with your finger and get the clamp arround. The clamp doesnt need to be tightend to hold the bpv so you can use your lifting finger to put in that T-Bolt

    • @TRUCKTECHUK
      @TRUCKTECHUK  Před rokem +1

      Thank you for the comment👌. Connecting the new BPV should let it do a regeneration as its looking for the position that your old one won't be reaching. But what will that do to the actual regeneration process? I don't know, as I've never just plugged one in and carried out a regeneration. Fingers crossed, I suppose 🙈

    Hi. As a driver it’s great watching and learning the ins and outs of the faults and the rectification process to get rid of those bloody P-dings!!! I’ve recently had my BPV changed on a 16 plate MX11, would this alter the performance of the engine brake in any way? I don’t feel as if mine is working as efficiently compared to the old one. Truck is automatic and changes down but doesn’t seem to have the retardation of old.
    Thanks for reading and awesome videos.

    • @TRUCKTECHUK
      @TRUCKTECHUK  Před 6 měsíci

      Hey thanks for the comment! the fact you understand the systems is always a bonus from a technician's point of view as the more information on an issue you can give a technican the better when you want it fixed!
      As for your BPV issue, the part itself is what is called a smart actuator and processes all its own faults and positional data.
      If the engine is requesting a position or pressure for the turbo.....the motor will move it to that position....say 3 per cent for regeneration. If its unable to reach the desired position you will get a DTC just like in this video. This is the "requested" and "actual position" I'd be looking at in monitoring data with a diagnostic tool
      So if its not performing correctly you should have an error.

    • @user-jl2lk7cn1k
      @user-jl2lk7cn1k Před 6 měsíci

      Hi, no faults since new BPV fitted, also had the fuel cut off air valve replaced and a couple of NOX sensors, personally I think the BPV has been faulty for a few months as been having faults for months so maybe I was spoiled as it was not working properly. Has now started doing more regular re-gens than before as well. Maybe a bit coked up down the system? Fitter saying dpf is clean going by his diagnostics. Truck felt down on power too but I think it’s starting to come back to me. Will see how things go. Cheers.

If so how could I rectify it? I’ve checked all the fuses and nothing. Also in the comments you said you are going to start fixing the bearings on the BPV’s have you started that yet? Thank you.

    • @TRUCKTECHUK
      @TRUCKTECHUK  Před 4 měsíci

      Hey Tom. I'm glad you enjoyed the videos. If you have an internal error the only fix is replacement unfortunately as I've been unable to identify the actuator supplier. I've got a BPV here with the same faults. Internal fault and positional error. I have a kit here that needs to go into production for the shaft and with the welding required it will be a service exchange unit. But as for the internal error, it is just that... an error that is internal to the actuator which seems to be captive to PACCAR unfortunately
      Hope this helps
