Wow, my mind is blown how low you guys are. Read. The. Affidavit. All your dumb questions are answered there in black and white. What don't you understand? You can't even read a 37 page affidavit that clearly explains how all this happened. It took me 1 hour to read the affidavit. You continue to make allegations, insinuations and keep reaching. If you are going to keep doing that, at least have the integrity to read the affidavit.

Ippei set up the account that was transferring the money. He was the gatekeeper to the account and everyone had to go through Ippei. Even Ohtani's agent, who doesn't speak Japanese, rarely talked to Ohtani without Ippei being there to interpret. Same with the bank employees and financial advisors and accountants and bookeepers and legal advisors. They all had to go through Ippei. Ippei was more than an interpreter. No you dont get it Kay. Why the hell would any lawyer or representative of ANY player, celebrity, or otherwise advise their client to answer questions about an active ongoing investigation? Zero! Noone would and thats what is baffling me about this whole thing. I never thought Kay was saying "hes guilty". Its this "well judge would never be able to get away without asking questions" bs that is totally off the reservation. What you want him to literally sit in front of a mic and say repeatedly "i cant comment on that as there is an ongoing investigation " over and over again?

  • @omgbygollywow

People are defending Shohei because he is being unfairly disparaged by people like you three on no grounds or evidence. It has nothing to do with him being a Dodger.
Making insinuations and saying things like, "It's still dubious..." is a coward's way of making inferred accusations. And then to deflect and say, "I was just trying to say that he should answer questions..." is really low. Clearly, they will not admit it, but they were wrong but not man enough to say sorry.

Dumb guy on the left: "...the minimum of what Ohtani is guilty of is being a rube..." Well, Dane Cook was embezzled by his own brother out of $12 million dollars over a period of 10 years. Dane Cook said he didn't pay much attention to his accounts and the only way it was caught was that he hired a new manager, and the new manager found out about the crime. Wealthy people are often too busy and delegate things to others. I guess lots of people are rubes, then. I worked in the Trust Industry (managing assets of wealthy individuals and also corporate pension funds, etc.) and stuff like this happens all the time. Lots of embezzlement goes on and it's not that difficult. A lot goes undetected.
Dumb guy on the right: "How could his interpreter have access to his money? HOW!?!?!??..." READ. THE. AFFIDAVIT. It shows how Ippei did it.

It doesn't make sense that he's accusing Ippei of stealing only $16 million but he made hundreds of millions of dollars in bets... What's the truth Shohei? He either stole hundreds of millions or they were placing bets together. Ippei admitted it's "technically" stealing because he had Shohei's permission on most of it except the $16 million, which is a conspiracy that should get Shohei in trouble. They won't because he is generating tons of money for LA and California.

I still don’t believe it. You’re losing money hand over fist but instead of betting on baseball a sport you would have inside knowledge on and could turn your losing around. Yet, you never bet on ANY BASEBALL? A guy that didn’t understand illegal gambling? Come onnnnnn in 19,000 bets??? Come on

Most likely Ippei did not want to raise any red flags. If he bet on baseball, he knows the bookie will start to ask questions: "Hey, Ippei, did you know this could be bad for Ohtani? It's okay if Ohtani bets on other sports or is covering your bets on other sports, but if he bets on baseball or covers for you on baseball bets, Ippei, then he could be banned from baseball if someone finds out. And you are my golden goose. I have made millions off of your bets. I don't want you to be caught betting on baseball."
At the time, the bookie thought Shohei was betting or that he was covering for Ippei. Ippei probably wanted as little questions or attention as possible, so he stayed away from baseball betting.
