    Bravo! You built one heck of a boat! That could be a dangerous trip, but you and the Surf Scoter weathered it all. Congratulations!

    Damn she's a tank! Looks like a great boat for beating around Florida and the Bahamas with a nice dry ride and can take a beating. Good call on the controls in the cockpit too so you can fish/troll or dock without having to run back and forth

    Well done trip log. The audio was difficult to hear from time to time. Too bad about the weather at Dry Tortugas but still a great showing for the little Surf Scoter.

    How is the boat doing? I think the boats flipping awesome. I'm really thinking about the surf runner 25 and I guess now there's a surf runner 27 Devlin. Very cool build!!!! Best think about it is just 115hp, that's my style!

    I wonder if some simple spray rails will help a bit. But I know when the wind is blowing and the sea is tall that everything wet.

    I got seasick from watching this. Also had me questioning my eye glass prescription with the ultra closeup, out of focus wet camera lens footage. At the least the majority of the sound was inaudible. Otherwise great job on the video.

    Is that the area where Gordon coopers treasure on discovery is based?

  • @groundzero.
    @groundzero. Před 8 měsíci

    So why did you choose the single point? Was it the cost over safety? or cost over luxury?

    • @whyzzzard
      @whyzzzard  Před 7 měsíci

      Do you mean single prop? The plans are for single prop, and I'd not radically alter the design, so Id say safety over cost.
      Also,. I the 115hp is the lowest hp that has digital NEMA output allowing for a modern head unit. Rather than a busy guage cluster, luxury and modernity influenced my choice.

    • @groundzero.
      @groundzero. Před 7 měsíci

      No, single point of failure. 1 motor. Instead of two motors. What is your plan if something happens to your only motor?

    • @whyzzzard
      @whyzzzard  Před 7 měsíci

      @@groundzero.I carry parts and tools to keep it running. I wanted to build a light sport aircraft at one time so I carry the same philosophy as a pilot. Also, we have Seatow on call and I can stop to take a leak!

    Why is that outboard so LOUD ??

    • @HondoTrailside
      @HondoTrailside Před 2 lety +3

      Things are actually louder than we think they are. Unless it is a sound we don't like
      Same reason that when you do a wedding video, and a small regular car drives by, it kills all the sound on the tape, yet in everyday life it would hardly be noticed. Psycho acoustics. We hear what we want to, or think we hear. So an acoustic guitar does not have a large enough air volume to produce the fundamental tone of the bass strings, but we never notice, because even the non-players in the audience just fill it in. Get yourself a cheap meter off ebay and actually measure the decibels of things in the environment. We are set up so that while the energy of sound doubles for every 3 decibel increase, we see the decibel scale as nearer to linear.
      Which is why you need to be so careful about noise like rock concerts, gunfire, or ear buds. People will happily go deaf.

    What's the measurements of this boat, I'm interested

    • @whyzzzard
      @whyzzzard  Před 8 měsíci

      22x8' the widest you can trailer, even 30 foot or longer boats on trailers arent more stable as the boats stability is based on width not length the max width on the highway is an 8 foot wide load.
