Genre and aesthetic. I keep my sff series together and have separate shelfs for thrillers, non-fiction, classics and poetry. Everything that doesn't fit there, I've sorted by color.

All bookshelves are pretty I think, and it's best for you to actually love your bookshelves and find your books easily than just organizing them so they look pretty haha. Good work there anyway !!

I just recently watched one of your videos (I think it was a haul?) where you mentioned that you weren’t going to get a third shelf and then you post this with a new shelf hahah I love it! Definitely wish I had more shelves for my books and maybe an empty one for new books!

Well there are 2 reasons... 1 I haven't found an used copy of it yet! 2. I'm not rushing to read the series because I don't like waiting for the next book! Since it's two series of 5 books I'll probably read them once the fourth one comes out!

My experience is that if you have your books close to a window at any length of time they will start to yellow and look old really quickly. They will also get dusty as dirt/particles get blown in through the window when it is open (hence why the windosill is always dirty)
