@@checkersgarage744 I grew up around Detroit’s so maybe I’m just used to it. In middle school, my bus was an old crown with a pancake Detroit 6-71 paired with a manual transmission. I loved that old bus, it was fast and loud especially when he’d get it wound up and flowing just right, was an emotional moment for me taking the last ride on that bus before being retired and replaced with a freightliner C2
@@tommystearns1475 Its not that I don't love the sound! Just both trucks are straight piped and after an hour at 2200-2500rpm you worry about your hearing#

Howdy, Despite the blower, a 2 Stroke Detroit Diesel is considered naturally aspirated. The blower is for exhaust gas scavenging and not designed as a power added. They require a blower to run. Its an 8v71N. If it were turbo charged it'd be, for example an 8v71T. You can usually tell a turbo from an na by the exhaust "bark" that'd be muffled and not nearly as "barky" as a na, and would have a turbo in addition to the blower.
Where'd you acquire this from looks like a rig that my former dept millersburg pa had in the 90s that was refurbished then sold to Alabama then it was sold off from there.
Fix the muffler on the aerial. Sounds like middle school shop class. I won $5 off the video. Bet another Firefighter you would gun the aerial once the brake was set to show us your lack of muffler. I drove a pumper wth the same engine and muffled properly, it sounds really smooth. Also the governor issue is called galloping. Most cold start Detroits do it. They smooth out on their own after warm.
I don't mean to be so negative but when you talk to other people like that they lose all interest in hearing what you have to say. If you had better communicating skills I might have actually considered your opinions, but instead you tried to talk like a big man. I own my truck because it makes me happy, your approval will never mean anything.
I could sit all day and listen to those Detroit’s sing their 2 stroke symphonies
As long as I get earplugs I will 😬

Good ole Detroit Diesel the most efficient way to convert diesel fuel into smoke and noise
wouldn't have it any other way!
I am so jealous I have always wanted to own a retired fire truck and you have two of them. You lucky S.O .B. 😂
Two very nice looking 4x rigs
Very cool, but I'm guessing your neighbors aren't exactly thrilled...😄
They all love the trucks and haven't complained about the noise! I try not to do it after dark or too many lights/ sirens though
That yellow one sounds so sexy with that 8V71 lol.
Can you do a video soon driving her down road.
Not naturally aspirated. It's got a supercharger genius
its got a blower

Old 71. That came from my Dept
Nice! Which one? She's been through 4-5

She's a little grumpy
Perfect mosquito control for warm weather.
Looks like she has a bad exhaust leak

No keys that's the first I see that
Its politically incorrect to reefer to an engine as a truck. Also, the Pierce is technically a Quint.
Go back to school lol
