🤗Hey there mr. Hilton it's been awhile since I've been on your page and I just wanna say I hope all is well your way 😀 Now I must say that your new Jag Has come out to be a beautiful car at first I was a lil upset you got rid of yo 09 xf but now looking at this 1 - you made a great choice it may not have the same shape as the previous 1 but I still feel that you made a great choice.. this car is absolutely beautiful and + with your customizations you did to it made it even more stunning better than what Jaguar did to it .. I know it was kinda hard to let go thee other 1 .. that's how I felt when I got rid of my 2010 profolio for the 2012 profolio sport pack I'm in love with this car but with that being said you are appreciated man I'm about to do the same to my car as you did to yours.. thank you for bringing us inspiration to our Jags ... Ps Jags for life 💯💯💯💯💨💨💨
Thanks for your kind comment Alpha. It's nice to know there are some people out there appreciating what I share. If my videos just helps one person, then they've done their job ;) Glad to hear you got a 2012 - good choice. I must admit, my new XF has been quite a reliable car since they fixed my "troubles" which were mostly caused by the dealer and not the car. I love driving it and the respect it gets from other drivers and people who see it parked. Everyone admires a Jag when they see it. Because they're awesome :D
Hands down best video on doing this! I just bought a 2019 XF and was looking on how to get into the console so I can add a wireless charger to the pad. Now I am going to add these lights as well!!!! Great tutorial!!!! & Thank you
Amazing stuff, if I ever need a repair I'll bring it to you, you must know how to completely rebuild one of these things after all the stuff you have done lol
Lol, I like seeing how things are out together. Very interesting. I didn't mention in the video, but I had the entire dash in pieces trying to figure out how to run the wire. All that was left was the glove box, instrument cluster and upper dash and steering wheel 🤣
After my recent 2012 XF V8 S/C purchase with 40K miles on the clock, I am just now catching up all of your amazing videos. thanks so much, for taking the time to document the upgrades and experiences. I have learned so VERY much about the XF inside and out thanks to you. Wishing I had half of the video/editing capabilities that you do... just know that your efforts on this channel appear to be helping ALOT of people around the World.. As for Ambient lighting, prior to seeing what you've done with this project, I did find some EL Wiring and wondered if the BLUE hue of the color is a match. It does look like a match on your Year model. Is it safe to assume that all years are the same?
Thanks for watching. Absolutely, the Jaguar cool blue ambient lighting is a good match to the cool blue EL lights. The video unfortunately doesn't really show just how awesome it looks at night. 😉
Alright Hilton, this looks fricking amazing. I just have to wait till the weather gets a little bit warmer and im going to do this myself aswell ! Its a pity you Sold your X260, I love mine. But we can't forget how awesome the XFR is though. Nice Job man !
Which normal bulbs are you referring to? The one's under the footwell? The ones in the dome light are all 3 led already. I know the footwell aren't and the trunk.
Loving it, loved your last job of fitting the dash cam, after watching your how to video, mine went in a dream 👍. I will be ordering these strip lights so that I too can spruce up the interior of my XF. Quick question, you don't happen to know anything about why 1 door on the central locking doesn't work??🤔
Hey Simon, sounds like the door lock in question is faulty. It's a complete unit and is a battle to replace. The new XF's door locks are similar to the old XF. This video should help you if you would like to do it yourself czcams.com/video/8dBULmGEAK4/video.html for a rear door and this one for front door czcams.com/video/5hF5iR8o_pQ/video.html
Thanks for your reply, seems it is a common fault on the old style XF, had similar on the front driver door. Thanks for the mega, detailed EL light install, you Sir are a genius 👍😭
Hi Hilton, thank.you for putting this video together and for sharing. Just brought my first XF Sport and loving it. Looks like Jaguar was either afraid or couldn't be bothered to put in ambient lights , which is a shame, as it looks like you've done. Beautiful job yourself I will be attempting this myself. Thanks again for all the videos you've put up, it's all been very helpful. Just a quick question the head lights on your which type are they. D3S Bulbs or LED??? 👍🏽
Great job! Do you know the quality of the AliExpress lights? My main dude is related with the lights after after one year or after hours of usage, I don't know if we lose quantity of light o colour with the time
Why Alvaro. Only time will tell how these lights perform. I bought extras so I have many spares. It the lights fail or the regulators fail, I have enough to replace them. But I'll do an update a year from now 😉
Wow great video! Does the colour of the ambient lighting match the colour of the interior lights? I have a Jaguar XJ and I wanted to install these on the centre console. I want to only install them if they are a perfect match to the colour of the interior lights. Many thanks
Hey Roony, they are 100% match. Not only that, because of how I hooked them up, they dim with the interior lighting when I dim it or brighten it. It can be a bit bright if you're on a dark road with no street lights, so dimming is necessary then, but driving in town at night, they okay set at bright as it isn't distracting. But 100% color match which is why I chose Ice Blue.
I wish you were in the UK so you could help me do this to my chequered flag 25T XF. Unfortunately I’m no good with these types of things and would probably damage the car completely! Good job though and have really enjoyed watching all your videos.
Hey there Aj. Yeah, if I lived there I would have gladly helped you do this mod. Pity not many people from my own country follow my channel as I would love to help anyone who lives close to me with their Jags. I don't have this car anymore, but I will probably be doing this to my XFR in the coming months. Just waiting on some more EL lighting stock ;)
Hey there, I was finally able to get a 2009 Jaguar XF-S. I love what you did in this one, but where did you get the lighting strips? Would love to put that in when I wrap blue Carbon Fiber over the wood paneling. Any suggestions?
Hi Hilton We only need 2 cables ? The first cable it's the blue and White ceiling light . And the second cable it's the ground ?? it's the same for jaguar xe ? sorry for all these questions i'm a little beginner and i really want to do this. thank you so much
Yes it's as simple as that. It should be the same for XE but I'd recommend you do what I did in the phase 1 video and use a test light to check the plug for which cable is linked to the headlight switch.
The new F-Pace facelift has a different interior, but my guess is the cables leading to the overhead console light is still the same, so when it comes to running your main harness from that wire, yes, I'm sure it's doable, but you would need to sit in your car for a while, look around and decide where lighting would be best suited to lift it up a bit to look more premium ;)
Nice video! I’m wondering if this same wiring process works for the previous Jaguar XF version, the 2012-2015 one. I’d love to do it in my XF 2012 but I wonder if is even worth it considering I don’t want to take everything apart to find out it won’t work as the wiring might be too different.
It is the same process indeed. You will have buttons by your dome light that light up at night when you turn the headlights on - such as the park distance sensors switch. So you can check which wire supplies light to it and tap into that wire. I'll be doing this on my XFR in the coming months. Just received another batch of EL lighting for the project ;)
Yes you can. If you pull the a/c controls out you can test which wire runs to that plug that feeds the a/c stack with ambient light when you turn on the headlights. Using a little test light you can easily figure that out. 😉
@@carfanfan Hello and thank you for this information on the Jaguar Xe on the other hand the air conditioning control is additional buttons it is built into a console I can not remove the wires is there another way thank you very much
Could you send me Phase 1, regards to the door Ambient Lighting! I have the same type door card and would like to see where and how you've run that EL lighting. Thanks
How can i get in touch with you? I can’t figure it out wich of the blue and white cables for running the live one are u using . I can’t see it clearly in this video.
Hey there, you need to use a test light to see which pin on that plug lights up when you turn on your headlights. It could differ from car to car. Once you know which pin, you can identify the color of the wire that leads into that pin from the harness. That will be your live wire that you will tap into for your positive. You can use a bolt on the inner door opening behind the dash side cover where the door rubber seal goes as a ground and run your ground wire from there. This video might also help you - skip to 5:55 and that should give you a good idea ;) czcams.com/video/vx-ab2XakWw/video.html&ab_channel=JagFanHilton
@@carfanfan thanks can you give me the site or the link to buy the light and the housings please because i find the blue you have it is the same as the dashboard
This looks great man! Happy to see someone not afraid to get crazy with projects. Keep it up.
Your a lot braver than me, the extent of my xf upgrade has been swoping bulbs in footwell and boot for LED white lights. Great vids by the way.
Thanks Mark 😉
Wow, you are very brave pulling the trims apart, my luck they would break 😉. Great video and well done 👍
A remarkable job, Hilton. It looks wonderful.
Take care, Jeff
Thanks Jeff, glad you enjoyed it ;)
Great Job! Looks Fantastic.🇬🇧❤️🇿🇦
Thanks John 😉
