I saw these guys last year in Milwaukee and I remember when Dave Grohl started playing this song, I lit up like crazy. Every time I listen to this song, I instantly remember literally jumping and jamming like crazy to it during that concert. I'll never forget it.

Nothing screams 2000 anything. Once we got past the 90s it's all repeated, recycled, redone, reboots or just stolen completely. This song is great. It even has a lot of similarities with a certain Sesame Street song though.
I don't know how many times I'll be listening to an original song and have some kid say something about how it sounds the same as a new song they listen to. I'll listen to it and hear heavily sampling from that original song. You look up the rights to the material and sure enough they had to list the original artist due to so much being taken. I've been told by an especially ignorant few that they stole the beat or lyrics from their new song they listen to. The look on their face of embarrassment and dumbassery is always pretty good when I tell them the one I'm listening to is from 10-20yrs before theirs came out. Who's stealing what?
There are few original works coming out these days. It's the same with movies. How many sequels and reboots can keep sustaining the death of creative thought? Maybe if some kids would put down the tablet or phone for 5 and pick up a pencil, paintbrush or instrument we could have an explosion of cultural creativity. I heard the Rock was trying to remake Big Trouble in little China. lol good luck. Some movies are great because they are terrible.
Again some of the remade works are good. Don't get me wrong. Some movies and songs sound better than the original in IMO. With advances in technology some tools are better equipped to tackle the task. In many cases it is killing creativity though. So, you're right and wrong. It screams 2007, 1997, 1987, lol even 2017.
