@93MrYates Rio Grande carries the ring pellet molds. For whole sizes use item #111-380, for half sizes the item number is #111-381. Each mold has nine sizes ranging from size 4-12. Hope that helps!
Even if using pmc3 to make a ring i understand torch firing is NOT highly recommended, so what would be the best firing option if you do not have a kiln nor the funds to aquire one?
Hi there - If you are not able to use a kiln, then you can use a Large Butane Torch (500086: www.riogrande.com/product/large-butane-torch/500086). This will give you a good amount of heat to torch the pmc ring. We hope this is helpful!
Hey where can you buy the actual molds? I've looked on the RioGrande site, but all I can find is the shrinkage stoppers and tape. Please help? I have been making rings from coins for years and I want to get into more serious jewelery making.
It seems the ring molds have disappeared from the site. Maybe they weren't selling because they were somewhat costly for the range of sizes we might need.
+Morgan Y Hi Morgan You can if you use PMC 3, but it's not a good idea to torch fire rings. Torch firing doesn't produce the strongest metal clay ring and rings need to be strong. It's recommended to fir rings at the highest longest temp for strength. 1600 deg F for 2 hours in a kiln. I hope this helps. thanks for watching. Mark N Tech
Unfortunately, these ring molds are no longer available. Here are some similar options that we think will help you: www.riogrande.com/product/whole-size-ring-pellet-mold/111380 www.riogrande.com/product/half-size-ring-pellet-mold/111381
