  • If you lift your 4Runner you may need to adjust the rear trackbar to avoid bumpsteer and other issues. Check out this kit I installed to fix the problem.

    I use those same tires on my JKUR and they are very good. If my 4Runner wasn't mostly a pavement vehicle I'd for sure get them.

    I’ve had the BOTCK for 1.5 years now and I almost have the same setup as you with an RCI gas tank skid plate, 3 inch lift on the rear. Same thing happened like hitting the gas tank with the drive shaft and my aluminum skid actually grinded itself. 🤷🏼‍♂️ But, putting the track bar on the middle hole is what they actually recommend and I did that so now it doesn’t keep hitting the skid anymore but still happens occasionally on really articulated situations. I actually don’t have a lean but maybe because I have both front and rear sway bars on. I have sumo springs bumpstops on the rear and it helps greatly with preventing bottom out. I also have opt offroad rear LCAs because ny OEM got bent from falling on a rock. I adjusted the rear LCAs a hair further back and my true 33s tuck in nicely under the fenders. I agree that 35s is too much for the 4runner. The perfect tire size in my opinion is a 285/75/17 or a skinny 34 inch tire.

      Sounds like you have your rig dialed it!
      My experiments haven't quite landed me there yet. But that's part of the fun right.
      I'll have to try the adjustments and sumo springs. Thanks for the info!

    35" tires are way too big without other mods. I have been using 275/70/17 for 4 years now and I have not had a single issue. I have taken my 4runner all over the place too. Monache Meadows, White Rim, Grand Canyon, various trails in Utah, Death Valley, Lippencott pass, Alabama Hills, Funnel Lake, Azna Borrego, blah blah...these are not extreme trails like the rubicon but they are trails that demand high clearance and 4x4. Ditch the 35s brother. The 275s look a little small but its just optics. They perform great.

    easy way to measure is to take a tape measure and measure from frame to the tire

    That’s how you really know what works and what doesn’t, is tinkering and doing it yourself. Great video tho!

      @@DBCoffroad I’ve done work that I’ve read off forums and most are false info, some are good info. I’ve notice most forums is just repeat of what they hear So now I just tinker and try it myself like what you did in the video.

      @@jeff_k1493 Yea I've found forums unreliable. Just have to trial and error yourself. I appreciate the feedback!

    I would say it's well known that 35s are just hard to fit on a 4Runner. Because of body kit differences, a GX460 can fit a 35 as easily as a 4runner can fit a 34.
    Anyway, this is why I did a small 1.5" lift on my 4R. Minimal geometry issues. Retain downtravel.
    Gonna try to stuff a 285/75r17 soon. Probably will need bumpstops to limit uptravel. But definitely the most cost effective way to get the biggest tire I could think of. These Toyotas love skinny tires for sure

      @DBCoffroad  Před 2 měsíci

      Yea I wanted to push the limits with the 35s. I still like them. They just limit some suspension travel. I'll try longer bump stops first.

      @@DBCoffroad I appreciate it. I’m debating if I should get it when i install 1.75” front and 1.5 rear springs. The price for benefits is definitely worth it

    • @DBCoffroad
      @DBCoffroad  Před 2 měsíci

      @@chewminem2044according to the website it’s more for 2-3” rear lifts. Since it’s all an experiment, I’d try your lift out first and see if you notice any bumper steer or axle alignment issues. Then maybe try the “Shorty” kit they have. Luckily the BOTCK isn’t very expensive to try out.
