    1. Ditch the calorie counting.
    2. Hunger & Satiety: Eat when you are hungry & Stop when you are full.
    *Eat Slowly (pause between bites, hold your fork in non-dominant hand)
    *Be present (turn off your tv, put your phone away - notice the taste and the texture of your food)
    *Don't overload your plate (remember: you don't have to eat every single thing that's on your plate if you are full and not hungry anymore)
    3. Respect yourself (your body and your health)
    *Choose foods that honour your health and your unique needs & that make you feel your best.
    4. Give yourself permission (allow yourself treats sometimes as part of your diet - it's unrealistic to try to be perfect)
    5. Every body is different.

    Would love to see a video on your diet choices and why you eat or delete foods. I recently have chosen to be more mindful of my choices and not eat the seemingly healthy things that make me feel bloated or sick. For instance, I’m limiting corn and beef because I don’t feel good after eating them. But I will always drink kefir because it makes me feel great. Etc.

    Hi Meghan! I really enjoy watching your videos. I learn something new each time I watch them. You had mentioned food sensitivities. Have you considered doing a vlog on that topic? I have recently discovered that I have a sensitivity to wheat, but I am still trying to figure out what all that is about. I have eczema and noticed that rashes flare up after I have eaten manufactured bread. I am still hoping to see if I can tolerate whole grains and that the sensitivity could be from processed wheat. Any information you could provide on this or what my next steps should be on this journey, would be greatly appreciated! Thank you from Florida, USA

    Thank you for another great informative video! I have never heard of this approach but it makes sense. I am definitely a stress eater and have been working to be more aware. It certainly is a process, but I know it will come more naturally as it is practiced consistently. I really appreciate how kind you are with your delivery, no shaming. It is a reminder to be kind to your self, that can be a hard cycle to break. I once had a teacher respond to the question "how are you?" by saying "every day in every way I'm getting better and better". That has stuck with me for years...it truly is a journey!

    I think this is one my bigger challenges. When I get into times of stress, which is more often than I’d like, I resort to comfort food and over eating. I have about 15-20 food sensitivities but the main ones being dairy, egg, gluten, rice, peanuts, almonds, pistachios, potato, corn, etc. Sometimes I feel overwhelmed with the number of sensitivities and find it hard to find foods that don’t hurt my stomach. It’s a daily challenge for me and one that I’m determined to find a solution to and be more respectful to my body. I love your tips and think I need to incorporate them into my life!

    On the point about the mindfull awareness of being present, we do a hygge meal time. No electronics and enjoyjng the conversatikn. I'm a weird Auntie aparently haha because i dont have the tv on when we are eating. Also, i dont tell my niece she has to clear her plate, just to eat until she is full. But that comes from a weird but now healthier relationship with food 😊

    Hello Meghan.
    Great video and tips, really enjoy it! I have a questions and would like to know your opinion, i recently having weight loss but blood test said that i'm normal. It is something wrong with my digestive system? Btw i have gastric history and also my body feels so bloating, really appreciate if you could share something thank you

    • @vstr4276
      @vstr4276 Před 5 lety

      Probably you're not absorbing food properly, that will cause the bloating and the reduced intake. Try drinking a glass of water with a tablespoon of baking soda in it first thing in the morning, if you don't burp pretty heavily in the next few minutes you're probably short of gastric acid which could cause this. If that test is fine, you might have to look on

    Thank you Meghan, I found this such a helpful video... was it bad that I was watching it while eating lunch? :-)) I've just returned from a late break to Greece and feel so super fit and healthy on my return... why? Well, the amount of walking I did was so much more than at home (and there were a lot of steep inclines). I also didn't snack in between meals, didn't eat so much chocolate or crisps, just had a light lunch and ate out for dinner with an entree and a main. I have honestly lost weight, but didn't once feel deprived. However, now I'm back, I seem to be slipping back into my old ways which isn't good. I will be watching more of your videos to give me some inspiration... best wishes from London xxx

    Do u think intuitive eating is a good option for someone who is already obesse and has diabetes, high blood pressure etc??? Or should i start by dieting first to get my health under control and then start trying to eat intuitively

    • @meghanlivingstone
      @meghanlivingstone  Před 5 lety +4

      Hi there! Great question :) Remember that reaching and maintaining an ideal weight means long-term, sustainable lifestyle changes instead of short-term diets. It would be a great idea for you to work closely with a practitioner to help you get on track so you can rule out any imbalances, but it's never too early or too late to begin integrating some of the principles of intuitive eating (such as being aware of when you're hungry and full). Big hugs to you!! xoxo

    Lots of negativity for counting calories, but there is a positive side though, at least for nutritional beginners like myself. I liked the math, that I knew what my body burned in calories in a day doing nothing and if I stayed below that number, those numbers added up and when the number reached 3,500 calories, I would lose a pound. This process became a game to me, how I could eat the most for the lowest calories. That naturally led me to salads, lean meat, fish, whole fruit, etc.... I ate whatever I wanted, as long as it was under the amount I set myself for weight loss. So for beginners, it is a great education. Good food is naturally good for you and helps maintain a healthy body weight. Why eat a bag of greasy chips that are 1000 calories and my limit for the day OR eat a huge delicious salad, fruit, meat, etc? I crave those now and can trust myself. After I achieve my goal, I will come out with a good education and can stop counting because visually and in my body, I know what is right for me. So counting is a good way to start if you have no idea what your choices can be. Thanks for the tips. Love the vid.
