    Great job on this so that we know where everything is! As someone who has done this on a 2021 CX-5 (to put the carbon edition chrome strip on) I'll caution everyone (fog lights or not) to remove the wire harnesses or the blocks that they attached to first, before removing the bumper. Mazda is unforgiving with how tight those wiring harnesses are and it would be easy to damage the connectors.

    Thanks for this video! I had to change the lower molding on the driver's side(TK48-50-7K1A) and your video helped a lot. I ended up breaking a couple clips in the fender trim, but I was planning to changing it anyways due some deep scratch in the plastic.

    Great video. It seems most people are here for the grill upgrade or replacement. What brought me here is the front fender constantly coming loose due to a broken retainer clip. My wife and I have 2016 and 2018 CX-9's, and the passenger side front fender is popping out on both of them. We thought that was really odd and started speculating as to what the cause could be. First we thought it was possibly a known issue with the model, THEN we thought maybe it was the Phoenix heat (this past summer being the hottest on record). Anyway, the next day I pulled up next to similar year Mazda CX-9 on their passenger side, and what do you think I saw... yup, their front passenger fender panel was popped out! Now to be fair I have noticed a lot of cars having this issue in Phoenix, even newer cars, so I don't know if Mazda is actually to blame. Retainer clips seem to not like 120° weather. In hindsight, we never had this problem in SoCal, so it's probably mostly the heat, and I'd say it's likely that for whatever reason, the front passenger retainer clip is weaker than it's counterpart on the driver's side. Did this help anyone? Who knows. But ranting about it was cathartic 😂

    • @j-flow617
      @j-flow617  Před rokem

      If it attached to the bumper it might be hard to do that unless it’s broken. Look at the new grill and see it uses clips or screws to keep it attached to the bumper if any.

    Thank you for this video! One question - if I need to replace the little lip portion of the grill above the Mazda symbol ("upper grille molding" I think it's called), how would I remove the little screws/clips that are holding that to the grille assembly? For reference, the clip I'm talking about is the little tiny one just to the right of the clip you are pointing to at 0:25.

    • @j-flow617
      @j-flow617  Před 2 lety +1

      You might be able to loosen the top of the bumper and pull it back some and stick your hand in there. If that doesn’t work try to loosen half of bumper and see if you can access the horn that way. If that doesn’t work for you then take the bumper off and it will be much quicker to replace it that way.

      Makes it easier, unless you just break the chrome pieces off. It might be attached with a clip or screws. Unclip half the bumper and try to get your hand back there to remove it. If you have the new parts, open it and see if it has any screw holes in them. For this vehicle it’s been a while so I don’t remember unless I look at it.

Just go through insurance and let they pay for it or pay out of pocket. But remember you get what you pay for. I’m sorry 🤷🏻‍♂️
