John Szarkowski is more known for being the director of photography at MOMA from the 1960s-90s, but his photography is strong in its own right. I would highly recommend checking out his body of work (again, curatorially and as a photog himself) if you haven't already.

About woman photographers, I think you didn't mentioned Vivian Maier or I missed it, so if you want to find more female photographers her works are interesting to check!
Yes definitely overlooked her by accident! I’ve also recently come around to the work of Helen Levitt who is amazing!
3:30 to add to this peaople of color are even more underrepresented than women in photography so maybe try to seek out those as well. In art and even more so in such an expensive art form like photography the lenses of those who are historically underprivileged are very important
