Climbing up to 20 meter on a beech tree / recreational tree climbing

  • Last summer I found this beech tree very close to where I live. It is at the top of the hill and in the middle of the forest.
In the forest it is very difficult to find trees where there are still strong enough branches further down to reach with the throwing line. Most of the time they only start at 15m.
This beech tree already has branches that are strong enough at around 8-10m.
I had to think about this beech all year round and could hardly wait when I set out to climb this beech a few weeks ago.
It was quite difficult to ascent and it was late in the afternoon, so I only filmed the 2nd ascent on the rope I installed.
It is very special to be in the treetop in the middle of the forest.
I will return to this tree in summer and make myself comfortable up there in my hammock.
I hope you will join me again to enjoy this special atmosphere, the peacefulness and this calm kindness of the tree.
Until then, all the best, health and patience.
    Simon

I'm also a rec climber and for every foot/meter that I go down a get sad knowing I'm leaving all that hard work behind, so I tend to stay a bit longer and enjoy the heights. Also, how darn expensive it's all the gear WOW! thanks for your video and stay safe.

I would like to have seen how you threw the ball up to secure a line ala anchor point.

Where do you do your tree climbing? I started in spring this year, and I've climbed a few big trees (usually beech). I've been up to 90 feet high so far. You use similar gear to me. I'm in Durham, Northeast UK

Be careful on what branches and anchor point you chose, you don’t want to chose a bad branch Union.

why don't you DRT down? then you can skip the retrieval line or even base anchor SRT?
