Hey Chaps! What do you think of the LG Gram 17??
This is the first comment of this pinned comment.
Need More power
Nice laptop
May I ask what camera you use to record your videos? they always look so clean : )
15W processor.
Got last years Gram and I love it! I was a dedicated Mac user for years and I have to honestly say, I don't really miss it much. I got a lot for my money and did not want to buy the ridiculously priced new Macbook pro.
Now MacBook air 16 or 17 will be dropped with 100wh to take down gram
I don't own an LG Gram but glad you're loving it so far! :D
And cost $500 more.
How is display of gram.? Is it good for eyes??
vennu gopal itâs good for the ass
This week, I got my LG Gram 17 with the 16GB RAM and a 512GB SSD. First impressions:
1. It's light for a 17" laptop, but not crazy light. It's still a laptop.
2. The build quality is good. Reviewers show how flexible it is, but I don't think you'd notice it unless you look for it. The only thing I'd say is that the hinge is not quite as stiff as I would like. If you tried using it on a train or plane, it might bother you. On a desk it is stable.
3. The screen is glossy. (How I wish it was matt!) I got a screen protector to reduce the reflectivity, but I couldn't get it on without air bubbles (which I hate even more), so for now I'm living with the gloss. But it's fantastic having a 17" screen for productivity (and day trading). And it's clear and bright. It's overall a good panel.
4. Keyboard: It's okay, apart from a couple of differences from a standard UK keyboard layout. In particular: the way the "|" key is situated adjoining the Left Shift key; and the horizontal Return key (which means I sometimes hit the "#" key by mistake). But the typing experience is good so far.
5. Okay, so it's not a powerhouse. I bought it knowing that it would be fine for productivity, but not expecting to do anything particularly demanding.
6. It was a bit laggy on first use. I did a clean install of Windows... and now it's running perfectly.
7. The sound is okay. It's fine, if not anything special.
So far, I'm happy with my purchase, but these things I would change if I could redesign it for next year:
- matt screen (!)
- stiffer hinge
- slightly better, upward firing speakers
- keyboard layout
- an Ethernet port would be nice, rather than the Dongle provided...
- And a more powerful CPU would be nice. Ideally, a Ryzen CPU with their better integrated graphics would be fab.
@AKSHAY VOLLALA For coding, itâs fine. If you need to do lots of compiling, you might want something more powerful.
This laptop was made for everyone, not just for you. Stop complaining and be happy these is 17 incher with great lcd that weights 1.3 kilo or whatever.
May be the best business Laptop of 2020.
I prefer lager screen to work with documents.
Notebook*
lol a notebook is subcategory of laptops... why argue semantics?
Same here. I will never understand 13inch word/excell double documents workflow... It just sucks ;)

As expected, another awesome laptop review from TheTechChap with lots of helpful one-liners. However, u seem to forget to mention about this year's huge upgrade in terms of SSD performance. The NVMe SSD in this year's Gram is much faster than any of its previous iterations
the 17' combined with 1440P is ideal for productivity IMO
Agree. Iâm so sick of 4k on laptops. Bad battery life and big hit to performance in Lightroom.
Don't forget the 16:10 aspect ratio which even makes it better for productivity.
It's better than 1440p: it's 2560 by 1600.
Just ordered one (previous model, as rare as hens teeth in the UK). It's the pefect laptop for someone like me who doesn't require a huge amount of power and is ideal for cloud gaming on that huge screen. Other 17 inch laptops are heavy beasts and about as portable as Fatty Arbuckle after he's eaten all the pies, this thing is a triumph of engineering.
Never mind the laptop, I want that desktop background on the PC!
That's just a cutom desktop case. You can build it yourself. I think that's a coolermaster case...
and before you say you couldn't build your own PC, seriously, its not hard. Just look up PC build guides.
Cole Knowles I donât think you read his comment properly, he said âdesktop backgroundâ not that he wants to build is own PC.
i like how you were bouncing a 17 inch laptop lol and the faces you made đ
cute af
Got mine in Feb. and I'm loving it!! It's amazing - even though it's last year's model - just didn't want to wait: )
check costco, it is on clearance because not lots people want it , for 600 usd. you can get another plastic junk. it is back to the price it should be.
Umm... You made a mistake that I've seen everyone so far make. Stickers aside, it's very very easy to tell this new 2020 model apart from last years model. The hinge is different and if you give it a good look, it's a big difference. That aside, the keyboard has been improved and the number pad has been expanded to a 4 column, vs the 3 column last year. 2 obvious differences. I had last years model for 2 and a half months before exchanging it for this newer model. Gotta love Costco 3 month return policy. As a result, I have a lot of experiance with both. đ
How's the typing experience? Does the trackpad have good palm rejection? I struggled with the xps 15 on this front
0:16 seriously? The stickers...? the hinge is completely redesigned, and a big upgrade in terms of aesthetics
3:12 thanx for adding that I had no idea wats the difference btw 16:9 and 16:10 was too lazy to search and heard every1 talk about it now I finally know
I see the reason for MIL-STD durability. The flexibility and feeling of plasticiness. The first one provides the springiness and second one the absorption of energy. Together they soak up external forces and reduce stresses on components. Simply smart!

This is best laptop that LG makes. đ„șâ€ïž
I'm seriously considering purchasing this laptop to trade stocks, I love the fact that it has a big screen, and is light, just what I need, I've been wanting to replaced my 13" Dell laptop for quite some time now and this Laptop fits my needs.
Go for it! It's one hell of a laptop. The light weight combined with the big screen makes it so enjoyable to use.
Hey im thinking of buying for the same reason, how are you finding your 17" gram? does it run metatrader fine without issues?
@@TheImpersinators Hi, I don't know about Metatrader but it runs ThinkorSwim perfectly, I bought it on Ebay, open box brand new, I paid $1,150 but with taxes I ended up paying $1,210 and I'm extremely happy with it, perfect size to trade stocks, love it! Very light, very portable too, great screen, excellent computer.
I've had a 2020 17" Gram from Costco since early January. Overall I'm impressed with the machine... fast enough for my purposes, the screen quality and dimensions are nice (I prefer the gloss finish over matte), lightweight, great battery life, better than average keyboard key action and the best fingerprint scanning I've used. I also like that I can add additional fast memory and a second NVMe drive - the unit I have came with a single 512GB SSD and 16GB of memory (8GB soldered, 8GB removable). I'm about to order a second NVMe SSD for data storage (500GB Samsung EVO Plus) and replace the existing 8GB SODIMM with a single 16GB RAM SODIMM (Kingston Technology HyperX Impact 16GB 3200MHz DDR4 CL20 SODIMM Memory HX432S20IB/16). By the way, the unit's case is made of a magnesium alloy, not plastic. I'm also looking into a Thunderbolt docking station and/or expansion chassis to use with assorted external devices' connectivity (such as PCI-e Firewire card to connect with legacy audio interfaces).
What I really, really dislike is the incorporation of the numeric keypad alongside the "regular" keyboard - I don't need the numeric keypad, plus it causes the "regular" keys to be way too offset to the left. I'd much prefer having the regular keys and touchpad CENTERED in reference to the screen. The current layout makes for awkward typing positioning; I'm sorta getting used to it, but this issue was nearly a deal breaker for me. Other things to improve in future iterations: (1) top facing, larger speakers - there's plenty of room; (2) a standard SD-sized card reader; (3) a quick charge battery arrangement; (4) a reasonably priced AC adapter as an accessory; and (5) a more user-friendly way to add/replace the SSD(s), memory and battery.
Your comment kinda helped me. My sister is gonna take her her degree in nursing. She asked me to help her find a good laptop for her work and studies. Is the brightness ok bro? 350 nits is kinda low tbh.. And in the review he keeps pressing the keyboard in to show that the build quality isn't the best. Does it flex like that when you type on it? Since you own it for about 6 months now, how is the performance?
Do you know how many external monitors can be connected at the same time?
hey ! is it possible to have a feedback after 2 years ? any durability ?
omg 1:31, my desire to buy it suddenly dropped to 0.
Exactly! I was loving it until that exact moment!
I have the laptop, in the video he had to press it a lot...trust me, when you touch it, it feel soild, not soft like a rubber thing
But you don't buy your laptop to play around with it like that lol you just put your palms down and type
I played around with this laptop for over an hour at the store and it does not feel flimsy at all. With regular use you don't notice any issues at all. I was even trying to replicate the accidental touching of the centered trackpad while typing as some have complained about but it didn't do it even once. Only think keeping me from buying it right now is that it charges slowly. Can anyone comment on this?
Do you really press or bang on your laptops like that?
Hmmm... Seems like my dad won't budge on using a 15" laptop, he just likes the 17" Toshiba satellite from 2009. I'm saving up for Father's day, but LG should make some cheaper options. The 17" form factor should make a huge comeback on every brand
I have the 2019 version. Battery is phenomenal. Not for power users but very portable and great display.
impressive, i love you have 2 ways to charge it, thats huge.
This is a unique device, there's nothing else like it in term of form factor
I don't know why I just love my MBP laptop
Just bought this laptop for 410⏠from amazon through a price error :-)
So happy
Hope amazon will send it and not cancel the order !
oooooooh did you get it?
I don't think so. They probably cancelled it.
@@lgiorgos1 got it a week ago
Hey.. Loved your review!!
Plz review Lenovo Ideapad S540 too!!
Small arrow key is the fly in the ointment.
I'm sold on it. Plan to buy this black Friday if I can get for around $1000. If it had a touchscreen & was 2-in-1, I would pay up to $2000 for it. That would be my ideal dream laptop.
Costco deal expires Sunday
@@riazk27 Thanks for letting me know. I may buy another one. I just bought a used one from eBay for a bargain price. Loving it. Just wished it had 2-in-1 feature also. Anyway, it's a great taste of the future of ultralight laptops.
Love the keyboard colors, matches my favorite website
LMAO AHAHAHA
Thatâs exactly what it was based off of
Hello there, regarding the last year's model and the 2020. The sticker is not the only way to recognize it, the new keyboard layout with the expanded backspace and enter keys and the four-column number pad in comparison to the three-column from the previous model. I saw at the store nearby yesterday. You mentioned twice that is not good for photo editing, others reviewers and websites recommend it for photoshop users. The mini SD card is a weird choice with so much space. I have a Macbook Pro from 2015 and I want to update to something more powerful, my mac has the old intel iris and use photoshop for my photography workflow. But my computer struggle with my sony mirrorless raw files, so i switch back to my old raw Canon DSLRs. I don't edit videos...I just feel I am behind others, this computer is beautiful, I held it in my hands, I like the simple looks, the screen - I think is gorgeous, but no 4k or touchscreen. Any photographer out there for advice?
Compared to the oldet model, about eight function keys have been enlarged so they're easier to find and press.
I probably would buy this one. I love the super lightweight with decent power. I just wished it has a 4K resolution, touch screen.
What do you think of the microphone and camera quality?
9:38 windows XP wallpaper in the background :D I've got a discord call
Hey can you do a hands on review for the dell xps 2020 model. Everyone is waiting for it
Perfect for me except......350 nit that is very reflective.....deal breaker. I like to do some work outside and this would not be good. So I'd go with the XPS 15 Except....everyone says it overheats....deal breaker. So I keep looking.
Thanks a lot for the review! Do you know if they'll release smaller screen versions and when? Also, do you recommend the new LG Grams for content creation or better to get a laptop with a gfx card? Cheers!
Why LG Gram's weight is in a kilogram? Should it be named "LG Kilogram"?
well the old 13 inch model is under 1 kg..
Thank you so much I like your interview about laptop LG
i like everything except the sound. the downward firing speakers are rubbish. if you put it on the bed the sound is all muffled.
battery life is 10+ hours. bought on ebay 2023 for $700 same specs as tested.
Do you recommend this loptop for watching movies and some...college projects??
It would have been funny if one of the times you threw it up it didn't come back down
This or the new Dell XPS 17?!
The keyboard has also been upgraded over the original Gram 17 - I believe some keys have been made bigger/ have better spacing
A full numpad now compared to same size keyboard from 14 inch used in 17inch one
VPN donÂŽt work on netflix...
Wow Big Screen is Better!!! đđđ
I am waiting for the new 2020 with big upgrades you mentioned in previous vid. Looking for similar to Dell XPâs 13, in weight, and esthetics,
you know we're going to ask where you got the wallpaper...
I will never understand the appeal of touchscreens on laptops.
Marcel FR helps with mobile app development, you can touch the screen as if the app is running directly on the phone (through an emulator of course). Other than that, yeah not needed đ
â@@etmargallo don't people just emulate by connecting their phones via usb?
I'm waiting for a 17inch light weight 2-in-1
What about Suits will we see a new Season any soon ? :P
Wallpaper link please?
Thank you for reviewing this laptop, amazing video, very helpful video,we are waiting for your next video, keep spirit
Can the GPU be upgraded to GTX 1050 or 1660?
That's the only compromise I felt and also U type processor but not a big issue.
I have a few sketchup files which if this laptop can operate without hanging then I'll buy it..
@The Tech Chap 2-lane thunderbolt or 4 Pci lanes thunderbolt 3?
0:51butter fingers
great review, thanks
Glossy screen hurts the eyes. A matte screen and deeper travel keyboard would be perfect.
You mentioned in your review something about "with this resolution", but did not actually tell us what is the resolution. I think it is 2560 x 1440, isn't it?
2560 x 1600 in fact - but yes you're right I should have! (177ppi)
Wondering how it compares to the the newest DELL XPS 17 laptops. Needing a work horse host that can handle a lot of virtual machines
I was about to go with XPS 17 until I saw gram 17 . I am a developer as well . Most of time I do not really run heavy duty stuff . This has 16:10, much lighter , much cheaper .. I will go with this one rather than XPS 17.
Mate watching ur video first time, you kinda look like Tom Hiddlestone
Anyone have the link for the wallpaper background?
How is this for web development? I like 17 inch screens because of the immersive factor. Got a 15â laptop from hp with thicker bezels. I have been regretting my decision, at the time I bought the laptop, there werenât many 17 inchers in the store I bought it from.
hi chris, did you get lg gram in the end?excited to see if youâre happy with it (i am considering getting one as a dev)
This is lighter than my 13.3 inch laptop
the best consumer electronic tech channel in the world i like your video a lot i hope you will hit 1 million very soon big fan from india
Is this good for online teaching, while using headphone ?
Can you do a review on the LG Ultra PC 17???
So lg gram or dells xps 15????
The reflective screen really takes away from the laptop - the screen is supposed to be its main selling point.
U are the naughtiest tech CZcamsr on this planet. đ
Is this model, 360 degree and touch screen?
the bad part about this machine is no anti glare on the screen
Wish they brought it with Ryzen with its powerfull integrated graphics
So whats better?
This laptop
or
Dell XPS 13 (2020)
Nothing wrong with the Dell XPS, personally I find 4GB a minuscule amount of RAM so I would go with the gram
3:18 is it really 350 nits? I think I've read 400-410 on their site. That'd be a huge disappointment if so!
Your mom was a huge disappointment
Looks nice but seems to always have Stock issues in the U.K. - where can you buy one?
If this comes with ryzen 4500U with way cheaper price then im on..atleast i can game with cod warzone in 1080p low comfortably
Can't find them anywhere in the UK (mainstream sellers)
Review on Dell XPS 13 2020
Please
I see a lot of reviews of laptops, never really understood the review part where reviewers intentionally press on certain spots on the laptop to flex it. Like are you serious? Of course it is going to flex if you PRESS on it. Is there a standard of quality that says laptops are supposed to be bricks of metal that don't flex?
How is having black bars at the top and bottom of videos a bad thing.. đ€Š
I like the laptop but no touch screen and high price is deal breaker for me
Is there a i3 14 inch version of this laptop maybe at under 700 dollars?
Does anyone know if you can set it to turn off the keyboard light automatically after a few seconds?
Well done LG the best design
doesn't the keyboard have a new column over by the numberpad?
Sir
The serial number on backside of panel is printed or its a sticker.pls tell me
Hey The Tech chap, Can I get your Wallpaper/Backround please?
cheaper than a surface laptop with the same specs or very close
Surface laptops have touchscreens. This does not. Huge difference.
Can you game with decent setting on this laptop?
What is the hardware difference between the 15.6" and 17"?
What about any hitting issue? Fan noise ?
I wonder how many people just browse the web on thier laptop and once in a while go lke... 4:23 Hmm! That's interesting
meeting military specs is a marketing gimmick....the DoD does not really have that high of standards, for their general purpose requirements. The more specialized specs that are harder to meet are not public, or operation specific.
17-to about 18 inch laptops are enough the $9000 21â laptop from acer? I think is like a desktop that you will keep on your desk
0:32 SONY ??
3:02 "its not toych screen" that destroyed it.
I bought a LG gram 17", they tell me to charge the battery before use but they do not tell me how long I reach the ideal charge 80/90 % someone can give me the answer
Could use something like an Ryzen 4700
